Also traveling for work, but I'll be gone through Friday. Will try to post, but definitely will be slower.

"HIGH IS GOOD" RULE
When rolling any dice, **high** is good for whichever player is rolling. The only exception, of course, is when the rules explicitly state otherwise.
This standard takes effect as of this post.

IT fixed it over the weekend. Came back to office with my laptop completely intact. I was worried it would be a complete Windows reinstall that would wipe out my browser and bookmarks.

@DOC As I've said recently, I'm rolling PC saves to speed things up, but when it comes to dying and stabilization, I think we should pause and wait for you, the player, to roll your life and death!

Just curious... how close are we to level 8, assuming we don't get et by the swarms?

A ways, actually. There's still a bunch of stuff in this dungeon before you hit 8th.

Wanted to let you know that I will be traveling internationally over the next two weeks. Chances are that I will not be checking this game over that time. Please feel free to bot me as necessary. See you guys in October!

Pfffft. I mean, if you wanna prioritize **vacationing** over discovering the secrets of Hollow Mountain, I guess... OK.
Seriously, safe travels. Hope you have a good time.

Must get my passport updated...

You can't just say "traveling internationally" and leave it like that! Let us live vicariously through you and at least hint at where you're headed. Hopefully someplace fun!

That's a great point Frantino! The fact that my passport totally expired (I should have renewed it...) shows just how long it's been...
GM Derek
Are you kidding me? Have you not seen the millions of people walking around texting and reading their cell phones???!!!! Have you not been on a college campus seeing students reading books while walking to class???!!! I have even seen several times people with, of all things, a newspaper across their steering wheel and driving in LA. Whatever. I wasn't trying to memorize any of the spells. It just keeps my character from being able to access one of those unprepared spells to possibly cast once a day.
Hmmm. OK. I have often wondered how I would map LA driving behavior with Pathfinder mechanics.
Reading While Walking/Driving
Reading and walking at the same time is a full round action. A person Reading While Walking moves at half speed, cannot act in a surprise round, takes a -4 to initiative, -4 to all skill checks, -4 to all saving throws, and loses his Dex bonus to all Dex-based skills, AC, Reflex saves and initiative checks. A person Reading While Walking cannot navigate/use stairs or difficult terrain.

Okay. I caught up on the nearly 100 posts while I was gone, but I had a question. Did we decide what we are going to do with the found loot? Usually, I not it on the loot sheet in Roll20, but I wasn't here. Did anyone log it? From what I saw, we found:
-Haversack
-gems
-Books
Did I miss anything?
Also did we figure out what we were doing with the other large amount of books we found that had value?
Frantino Kaddren
Two books we found were magical, a blessed book and a clay golem manual. The blessed book can really only go to Ezranadir while the golem manual seems bound to be sold. Frantino recommends we show it to the Golemworks in Magnimar, they're always looking for new (or forgotten) methods of golem construction. The handy haversack also contained a dagger of venom with the gems. One of us will keep the haversack although it hasn't been officially snagged yet, while the dagger is likely to be sold, no one seemed interested.
We're gathering up as many of the nonmagical books as we can in various extradimensional storage. If there isn't enough space for all of them, Frantino the historian strongly urges us to make a few trips back to the ship to make sure that we take them all with us. It's likely the Pathfinder Society or Sihedron Council will acknowledge their value and buy them off of us.

Of this part of the complex, yes.

@GM Derek
What is the issue that is not RAW. As far as I can see the only non-RAW ruling you made was to freeze only 5ft of the creature. I think that the entire creature should be frozen right now per RAW.
RAW, when the ooze failed its save, then the entire creature should have been frozen. Nowhere in the RAW does it state that the creature needed to be completely covered. As I read the description of oozeclot unguent, the liquid's properties work when "an ooze comes in contact with it". There is nothing in the RAW that states that only part of the creature is frozen. I would equate this to how poisons work and not how a spell like Entangle works. A poison effects the entire creature where Entangle is specific to where you are standing.
I'm sure you are a little concerned that this is overpowered, but I think that is not the case, and that the mod designers built this into the mod. The creature gets an average saving throw (DC 15) to avoid the effects of the poison. With the high CR level of this creature, it is only frozen for a maximum of 6 rounds. Based on your roll, this application will only freeze the creature for 1 round right now. If it was more than one round, it would get a save every round until it was freed. Additionally, if the creature is attacked, then the effect ends immediately. The mod makers probably tuned the encounter to account for this item as the item was specifically created for this mod. The difficulty of this encounter probably goes up to an unbalanced level if this item is not used.
Is the not RAW part that that Nasir poured it on the ooze? I would say that pouring the unguent on the creature should work just the same as if it moved on top of it as the power of the item activates upon contact as noted above. However, if the pouring is still the issue, then Nasir would pour it on the ground that the ooze was on.
Are you willing to change your ruling after this?
GM Derek
Interesting perspective. RAW is you smear it on the ground in a 5ft square and the ooze then oozes over it.
I'm OK with you pouring it, instead of smearing it, despite RAW. That seems logical.
Are you willing to change your ruling after this?
YES. The ooze remains immobile for the rolled duration.
Frantino Kaddren
RAW, when the ooze failed its save, then the entire creature should have been frozen. Nowhere in the RAW does it state that the creature needed to be completely covered.
This was my interpretation, too, that the entire creature is rigid and immobile. Makes for a cool visual as the unguent causes a hard shell to form across his liquidy body, because magic! Unfortunately, with the low 1d6 roll it's only for one round or until someone hits it, which is pretty much guaranteed unless we decide to retreat down the stairs and put the statue back in place.
Nasir al-Rafik Kamal
Does it look like there are any other exits from this room? It doesn't look that way from the Roll20 map.
Ezranadir
|
The Oozeclot Unguent description doesn't state a size restriction on the ooze. So it should affect the whole thing even if it is gargantuan and barely touches the 5' section.
The room description stated "On the eastern wall is a door, ajar, leading into another room." So yes, there is another area we would need to search to see if there is a way out from there.
