About Frantino Kaddren

Frantino's personal history:
Being born into the Kaddren family, one of the founding families of Magnimar, would normally have meant a life of power and influence. However, for Frantino Kaddren it wasn’t that simple. His father, Menowin, married an elf, Tarasynora, against his family’s wishes, and the new family matriarch Zimandi Kaddren, his father’s older sister, only grudgingly allowed them to live in Kaddren Villa.

Unfortunately, life for Frantino got more challenging when he did not show interest in the family’s normal career path as a wizard. He was able to learn from some of the more prestigious institutions in Magnimar, such as transmutation at the Golemworks and abjuration at the Stone of the Seers, but Aunt Zimandi was only too happy to send him out into the world when he became an adult, as is the family custom. However, he was not given a letter of introduction to any of the prestigious magic schools in the Inner Sea region, so he traveled to Riddleport to study with the cyphermages in the Cypher Lodge.

Unfortunately, they turned him down for reasons never fully explained, although one of the senior cyphermages seemed to immediately recognize the Kaddren name (and not in a good way) during his application interviews. Not ready to return to Magnimar, Frantino settled in nearby Roderic’s Cove a few years ago, working at times as a guard, schoolteacher, lumberjack, and whatever other work he could find. However, his fascination with Thassilonian ruins like the Cyphergate has only grown during the time he has lived in this region of Varisia.
