Buhhhhhh... I just spent half an hour writing up an extended personality study, links to photographs and botting instructions. And I didn't save before I hit "Publish". You know what happened next...

I've noticed that happening more and more to me since Stay at Home. More people on paizo.com, stressing the system?

GM Derek |

Added a section on Personality and botting instructions for Kheiron. Players may find some amusement in who I'm trying to model him on.
Super cool!

I changed my token on Roll20 to match my avatar here; can you please fix the new token a bit? The lighting and scale seemed to change.
Thanks!

Kheiron --
I appreciate that your character concept involves Kheiron being "gruff" and evolving etc.
Can you please not use the term "girl" as a sort of pejorative though? It's too close to reality! Speaking as a female IRL who's been in the fields of math, computers etc. for decades.
Thanks!
' "F@#&!" mutters Kheiron. He rushes through the spiders and takes up position behind Ayita. "Get the hell out of there, girl!"
Damn fool girl is frozen. She should move!'

Thanks for the feedback. What’s better? Can you offer an example of a replacement? Is there a replacement in this situation?

Perhaps in this case, "kid"? Only because I'd mentioned her being young, and acting a bit young, so the age reference is fine... The gender stuff is so fraught...
Thanks for asking!

I've taken some time to think and I've decided to withdraw from the game. Thank you for the opportunity to play, GM Derek.
I hope all of you will have a great game!
Derek, when you get the chance, please go to the Gameplay tab and remove Kheiron from the list of active characters. Thanks.

Sorry to see you leaving the game. I thought your character was going to add a lot to the game, and I was looking forward to seeing your guide in action!
I am hoping we can have a replacement character join us. My character is really fun for me if I can channel different spirits and be a wild card, but less fun if I have to play the same role every day. So I'm hoping we will have all roles covered in the group, so that whatever spirit I channel in a given day will still work.

I'm sorry you won't be continuing with us, Tarondor. The few interactions we had were terrific. You seem like a great roleplayer. I was looking forward to developing the dynamic between our characters. Whichever game you participate in next will be lucky to have you!

Anybody planning on playing in PaizoCon's online convention games, May 26-30? I've signed up for some Starfinder. Games via Roll20 and Discord.

I'm pretty swamped with life right now, but it sounds like a fun time!
I'm lucky. I report to a boss in our Paris HQ. So... most days slow down after 11am Pacific time, as he and my other colleagues go home (ha!) or stop working. Makes it easier for me to play midday in PaizoCon and then go back and do some work afterwards.

I hear you. The AP (all APs, actually) are written for four players. So a full complement of six makes some of the combat encounters absurdly easy. But that's not a big problem. I can adjust the encounters to ensure enjoyment. I think it is more important that we have social capabilities and roleplay roles covered, as you mentioned.
I've reached out to somebody. Perhaps I'll come back and ask for other player recommendations.
In the meantime, EVERYBODY, what role do you think we're missing?

Roscoe Elring - Champion |

Yeah, thanks for the consideration. I just don't want to be written down as the front-liner, only to have the archmage spirit the next day.
If you'd rather have me in a role that is set, I could easily rework.
With me in a rotating role, we have a Rogue, Occultist, Oracle, and Wizard. I think a front-liner would be helpful.

I totally understand where Roscoe is coming from. Very much of Pathfinder is a combat simulation. Additionally, having some overlap of roles is useful if/when one PC is taken down or otherwise unavailable for whatever reason.
That said, I kind like the idea of having a sub-optimal party. I like stories where the underdogs somehow pull out a win without the use of a ringer. I also enjoy the creativity that goes into using a limited set of tools.
Let me give you an example: One of the most fun times I've ever had playing Pathfinder was a session of Bonekeep 1 at a convention with a party of four in CORE mode--and two of the party were new and used pregens.
We were extra careful. We made time for some RP. We made sure to look out for each other, and none of us perished. We finished six (almost seven) rooms before time ran out. Our GM was a VL, and she didn't hold back. Approaching each encounter mindfully and cooperatively made it great.
I acknowledge that style of play isn't for everyone. Sometimes one only has time for a quick post. But I think it's a ton of fun.
That was a long-winded way of saying: I don't think we're "missing" anything.
My 2 CP. :)

I see Roscoe's point as well, but let's see if we can manage without. I had been thinking of maybe taking a fighter level or levels because I was going to be up front a lot. I think we'll be okay with 5, but if it turns out we are not, we could revisit the decision later. I suggest we try it.

Roscoe Elring - Champion |

Okay, as long as everyone is fine with me switching roles every day, we can make a go of it.
Just so everyone is aware of how this works for my class, depending on different locations, I have different spirits I can channel (in a library, for example, I could channel a wizard, or in a barracks, a warrior).
The GM will tell me which options I have as I start a day. So I won't always be able to be the most optimized choice. I've asked him to be a little restrictive on me, too.
I guess we'll see how it goes!

Roscoe, having gamed with you a few times, I'm happy when you're happy. I'd love to see your PC really unleashed! :)
Your character brings to mind something I did for a home game roughly 11 years ago. I played a bard with multiple personalities. The GM and I worked out a chart. Whenever there was a stressful situation, I'd roll to see which personality came out. It also affected his performance. Some of the personalities I remember are: Child Star, Country Crooner, Opera Diva, Pop Icon, and (only under the most extreme stress) Elvis. Definitely not as mechanically interesting as your spirits, but a ton of fun.

GM Derek |

Thanks for your input, guys. I've already reached out to another player, asked him if he's interested. He's said yes and is exploring a fighter character. He's more roleplay than rollplay, so I don't expect to see over-optimization.

Roscoe Elring - Champion |

Sounds good either way!
I also don't mind a 'spare' character, since these APs have a way of losing players to attrition.
My character is definitely not an optimized one, but I'm very excited to play him. Engleaktig's multiple personality bard is similar in some ways, but Roscoe doesn't actually have multiple personalities--just different spirits that--affect him. :)

Roll20 lost my move from yesterday, and my adjustment of my HP total on the token... weird... oh well, going back isn't going to work. Will go from here and try re-adjusting HPs

Roscoe Elring - Champion |

Umm--did we just get a new character added with no intro?
I'm excited to welcome any newcomers, but it would probably be nice to have a reason we're all standing together suddenly?
Welcome!

Derek, with Kheiron gone, my campaign trait "Close Allies" changes into Spirit Touched. My guess is that Roscoe already has that.
If it serves some campaign purpose to keep it, I'm okay with that. I'll have to rethink my background a little.
However, if it doesn't or it is duplicative of someone else's trait, I haven't actually used it yet. May I swap it out for magical knack so I can take 2nd level (and maybe even 3rd level) as a fighter without impairing my ability to make magic weapons and armor for the party?

Nobody has Spirit Touched, if you want to keep it, but I don't think that was the intent of the Close Allies trait. More like, "he died" and therefore you are Spirit touched. So, go ahead with Magical Knack.

Ah, I see. A case of mistaken identity. While I have much respect for the volunteership of Tyranius, I am not he. A coincidence that he and I are both Derek L.

Sorry for the misidentification, I didn't realize we had so many Derek L's.

Just finished my awful, no good work week and am wading back into posting. Hallelujah!
I may remain slow through the weekend as I try to catch up on everything else that I had slide, but by Monday I'll be back full throttle.

The fact that Sir Roderic died out in the harbor with his family SOOO means we're going swimming at some point to have a look at the wreck. I'll be sure to learn some appropriate spells as Walf gains levels to help us do that.
As a former sailor, I love shipboard and underwater adventures. I hope I'm not wrong!

Good to know because it is hard to swim in heavy armor...
