I think we only need one or two mirror image potions (unless everyone wants one). Its probably only in really critical fights against a tough opponent where we want to bust one out.
As for Invisibility either one of us needs it (so maybe 1-2) or the whole party needs it if we are sneaking (4).
I don't mind how we divide them up but we probably want 1-2 of each (at some point). Long term we probably want four invisibility potions on hand at all times just in case (when we have the gp). CLW should probably be a priority though until we can afford a CLW wand.

Hey! If possible, would you be cool with putting the characters age and birth month/year in the little description box on the alias? It will help me as we move forward. I have been enjoying this campaign, Thanks so much for being part of it.
I was not ignoring this, I knew Kunala is 20 and Iradiel is three years older, but I didn't have dates for their births. Spent some time thinking about the significance of dates and gave up; So will roll their birth days. Do you want them posted in the header or just at the top of the character page?
Iradyiel: Desnus 4, 4686
month: 1d12 ⇒ 5
day: 1d31 ⇒ 4
Kunala: Abadius 26, 4690
month: 1d12 ⇒ 1
day: 1d31 ⇒ 26
That sounds good, those are all 2nd level spells. They are 300 GP each, is that what you all wanted? I did see that curative potions were also requested. Was it a mix of curatives and Invisibility/Mirror Image?
Whatever you want Bokken can/will make.
Sorry about the confusion on these, I didn't check to see what level of spells invisibility and mirror were, is it ok if we just retcon and make all six clw? I don't think were going to be close to having enough cash for the invisibility or mirror potions yet, but we will plan on getting them.
DM Squirrel Ninja Kingmaker |
Having the dates there are great for me. I want them for my notes, this AP more than any other age and birthdates actually matter.
We can retcon what is needed when it comes to the potions. 6 CLW are okay with me if they are okay with Mirana. We really only need to have that finalized when you decided to head that way. You still have a few days before Bokken told you they would be ready anyway.
Mirana Alvina |
Strictly speaking Mirana probably doesn't know how old she is due to the amount of time she spent in the First World (which flows time differently).
OOC, I'll say that shes probably around 19 whereas Caitir is about 20.
Caitir: Arodus 21, 4690
month: 1d12 ⇒ 8
day: 1d31 ⇒ 21
Mirana: Gozran 22, 4691
month: 1d12 ⇒ 4
day: 1d31 ⇒ 22

I hope everyone had a good 'father's day' weekend! My wife and I spent the weekend binge watching HBO’s “Watchmen”. It was on Hulu for a limited time so we took advantage. I finally got Kunala’s post up, I didn’t realize it had been a week since he had posted or I would have done it Sunday or Monday. But it’s done now so I will stop trying to apologize….
DM Squirrel Ninja Kingmaker |
It is safe to assume 60. That being said with the sheer amount of arrows you will be coming across I will not require you to keep track of regular arrows. I also don't want you guys to just sell all of them you come across. They can be used for the party/trading post stock.
Now when it comes to special arrows, I will want you all to keep track of those.
What are special arrows? Anything that isn't the basic arrow from the CRB.
Great question!
Mirana Alvina |
Ye I wondered about that but in-character, that's probably the answer I'd give re kobold riding. I don't rly mind tho either way it was mostly just a vibe I got that they wouldnt be ok with it - despite it being faster.
DM Squirrel Ninja Kingmaker |
Hey guys! Sorry for my absence. I am on a 2 week vacation and this past week I was at the cabin unplugged. I thought I was going to have a connection but I did not. Apologies aside, I needed this time away mentally and spiritually.
The calendar is there because I want to keep track of time, especially when it comes to the Kingdom aspect of this AP. That is also why I had you give me birthdates of your characters.
I am still on vacation, but this second half I am connected to the "real world" once again and will dive back in.
DM Squirrel Ninja Kingmaker |
"Hey Caitir, I pick up languages pretty quick, do you think you could teach me draconic?"
figureing on takeing draconic as language at second level, can't hurt to work it into the discussion.
I am glad you brought this up. This is how I want to handle languages. I want you to work on it in game and spend some downtime actually learning it. I am not a fan of just putting a rank in it and all of a sudden the character knows the language without actually doing any in character learning.
Robert Henry |
So in game you asked:
Is there anything specific your characters would want to do during their time on watch? Any conversations they would want to have with the person they are on watch with? I do not want to move things forward if there are things you would want to do.
Specifically things like the linguistics learning session RP moment. That kind of stuff is great!
A curious Idea, I've been thinking about this for a bit, how much RP were going to do around camp and during the watch. Right now we have four three-hour watches set up. Everyone needs eight hours rest. that means we have one hour to talk while were not sleeping or resting.
I've never really understood how the travel rules apply to real life situations. We are permitted to travel eight hours a day without difficulties, that leaves another four hours to set up camp, prep food, feed the animals, etc. How much RP do we want to do during that time?
In most games the RP 'while resting/camping' is anywhere from non-existant to minor discussions about what characters are doing. In fiction we would see things narrated that give us information about characters or plotline.
DM SNK are you thinking of actually dscussion while we describe how were setting up camp or prepping things, or Kunala and Caitir role-playing out learning draconic or Kunala interacting with Dhavik while they are on watch together? Or are you looking more for a narration of what each character is doing?
DM Squirrel Ninja Kingmaker |
I do not think we need to write out every single detail of what is going on. That being said, whatever details you want to build into your RP/Narrative is perfectly fine.
"We Make Camp" says to me that you gather what is needed for a fire, make sleep sites, and unpack the horses/caravan.
But I was mainly wanting to make sure I don't move things forward before you're able to do what you want.
DM Squirrel Ninja Kingmaker |
Iraydiel missed his survival check, can he take 10 or roll again?
Great question!!
I am okay with you two doing the "take 10" with two stipulations.
1) You are not in combat or in a time crunch
2) It isn't a skill that has a negative for failing (climb/swim/disable device)
okay I fibbed, there is a third.
3) It is not a social skill (diplomacy/Intimidate/Bluff/Sense Motive) With those skills I do take into consideration the RP of the social setting when deciding on how successful the check was.
All of that to say simply say yes, Iradyiel can take 10 on survival.
Mirana Alvina |
I'm sorry to hear that GM. That must have been incredibly tough :(
I'll try and get a post up late tomorrow, have a crazy work deadline due tomorrow and ended up working through the weekend and got sick :/
Once that's out of the way, I should be in a much clearer head space.
DM Squirrel Ninja Kingmaker |
As a DM and player, I always find it weird mechanically and, in the narrative, when people don’t involve their familiars. I understand the that it only has 4 HP and a single arrow could take it out, but realistically the owl is also not a threat. A person wouldn’t use a potshot at the familiar when there are real threats around.
I understand that the owl would be nocturnal, but what kind of backpack are you carrying around that it is hunkered down in? It would seem to me that you wouldn’t have any other room in there for the rest of your gear.
Now, I am not going to punish you for not playing the owl as part of your character. But, please feel free to do so. I am not going to gun for your owl because you are using it. Have fun with it as a part of your character. Use it to add to the scene that is unfolding.
Robert Henry |
Sorry DM SNK not super familiar with the 'squeezing rules and 'low ceiling rules' thanks for the explanations. In game you said:
In the rooms with the low ceiling you receive a -2 on attack roles or any physical skill checks. In the tunnel you are considered squeezing
So can Iradyiel charge in the low ceiling area?
DM Squirrel Ninja Kingmaker |
I did a spoiler box for you both, the "low ceiling" rule is written in the module and not something that is "in the books"
I would make a judgement call that since you are crouching down a in there that it would be awkward to charge. You couldn't get your real full strides. No charging if you are medium or larger in size.
Robert Henry |
That's cool, I found a route where he can get to the square north east of the southern mite in 30 ft.: south-west 5 ft, south-west, 15 ft, south-west 20 ft, west 25, west 30 ft...
I will try and be more careful/specific when I Identify direction. In Iradyiel's post I said he was going to "his" left thinking he was facing south and then in Kunala's post I said south east, so I though we were going the other direction. NO big deal with this entrance but I will try and remember to designate in OOC what direction specifically we are going.
DM Squirrel Ninja Kingmaker |
To continue the talk of ooc vs in character.
I am okay with you guys planning your actions if we are not in rounds or in a situation where your characters can not really talk to each other. The situation we are currently in is you aren't near each other and talking would cause change to what was unfolding, both with the Mites hearing and with what Iradyiel was planning to do without knowledge of the caltrops.
I never want to hinder what you are doing, but I want to have things happen in character.
Caitir |
Hey GM do you allow retraining? Can Caitir retrain her familiar feats into Wasp Familiar for something more combat capable, and then retrain out of them at level 5-7 into Improved Familiar and get a talking familiar to roleplay with. Would that work to give Amber a bit more of a visible role?
Mirana Alvina |
I think so.
I'm a little worried about the GM though because everything points that he was intending to post and then suddenly vanished which causes me to worry at bit :(
