Well done, Ashtoret! :-D

GM Valen wrote:Wait... does this mean Ashtoret just needs to attack one of us (even non-lethal and/or not hitting) and the effect will be removed? Or would that be metagaming? o:-)As a result of the magical effect of what has been confirmed to be a bell of obedience, the affected Pathfinder are under a compulsion that prevents each of them from taking violent actions or doing anything destructive, although they can defend themselves.
Ashtoret knows that any aggressive action taken against an affected, calmed creature or injury dealt to one of them immediately breaks the spell as to all the affected, calmed creatures.
The scenario as written doesn't appear to anticipate the PCs using the bell, but as the mission involves identifying it, stats for the object were presented for the bell in a later supplement, and a Spellcraft DC was set out in the PFS Secondary Success Conditions document (having not been included in the original scenario), it made sense to me to play it out.

In order for our party to survive:
Can we other players decide to bot Menudo and send him into melee? Or at least make him heal Theron with LoH?
It really doesn't make it easier to win this battle if we have one of our two tanks doing nothing, not even taking some of the hits that now others in range have to suffer.
Please note that I'm NOT blaming the player as RL always comes first. But we should be able to adapt to the situation...

I am fine with another player botting Menudo.

Ok, then I propose we send him into melee - in order to:
- stop the elemental from following Merida (she's one hit away from dropping)
- heal Theron with LoH (to make him last longer)
- draw the elemental's attacks to protect squishier party members
Fine with you?

3 Pathfinders down? Anyone else expecting a TPK?
Totally Possible Komeback! Come on, casters! You can DO THIS!

Actually, according to the rules, Nightkit is faking it. At 0 HP you are disabled (and therefore staggered), but neither unconscious nor dying. (Source)
And unfortunately, Merida is already dead: she is at -15 HP with CON 14... (Source)
This is what I was afraid of when our paladin was not charging into melee...

I can't sneak attack it, I've used my magic missiles already since I used one in the first combat. Sorry I'm not much use. I can go full defensive and try and distract it.

Under the circumstances (which include, but are not limited to, our healer having not posted for an extended period of time and the finality of the consequences), I have no problem allowing a retcon to have had Menudo having healed Merida during the round that he delayed. Any such healing would not have been enough to prevent Merida from going down, but even the minimum roll would have been enough to prevent her from dying instantly.

Thank you! :-D

Ashtoret, have you already used your Arcane Bond class feature today?
If not, you could cast fireball one more time!
Maybe aim for a square directly 20 ft above the elemental (if the ceiling is at least that high)?
GM Valen |
Just a heads up to the table. I am attending a local convention this weekend with my son, so my posting may be limited--or even nonexistent--between now and Monday.

If I may, I will also speak out on the topic of rules. It seems to me that in addition to the Core Book rules, we also still have a common sense, the rule of thumb up and the like... Grabbing someone unconscious and dragging is something that doesn't require special skills (even IRL...), obviously. It's not a combat maneuver etc.
