"Let them go, I don't think there is much point in us running headlong into a trap or an ambush. Its unfortunate that one got away, but probably forseeable considering that there were six of them to begin with" Mirana remarks softly, considering the situation.
She glances at the kobold and tries to help him break the restraints with a swing of her quarterstaff.
Caitir
"I can have Amber light the way ahead like we did before" Caitir remarks helpfully, a little disappointed that she didn't get to kill anything. Still, she couldn't exactly argue with what Mirana had said, so she gives her a quick nod. "I can talk with your friend here and see what he knows. Extra knowledge is always valuable and all of that sort of thing."
Caitir helps Mirana if her quarterstaff is unsuccessful against the roots, before squatting to the same height as the kobold.

We are technically “in rounds” still, but unless you continue the chase we can fall out of rounds. Your call.
let's wait to see what illumination reveals. Iradyeil will react based on what they see.
This is the second time we've entered a room and weren't able to see the 'other' exit due to the map. In the future should we ask if there are other doorways or exits, or should we roll perception for them or what?Quickly moving beside his brother, Kuanala answers, Caitir, "Yes let's find out what he knows." Casting dancing lights he spreads the four lantern-like shapes out as far as they can go and sends them into the darkness. "But there's no reason to risk you little owl when I can use the dancing lights."

The kobold continues to struggle against the roots that holds his arms in place. He sees Mirana approaching, one of those who rescued him from the torment of the mites, and his eyes go wide as she swings with her quarterstaff against the roots on his arms. The kobold begins crying out in anger and pain.
“Ahh!! Stop stop! You’re crushing my arms…. What is wrong with you!”
As Caitir moves up to help free the kobold. Easy enough with the use of a dagger. The kobold shoots Mirana an angry glare as he moves to position the others between it and her. It begins to rub its arm where the quarterstaff struck the roots.
“What is wrong with her? Is she trying to turn my arms into mush and pull them free?”
The kobold begins speaking in a surprising language, common; “You freed me! I owe you my life. I am in a life debt to you and will serve you honorably. But only after I rescue my clans holy statue from these nasty blue mites. My troop was captured in our risk to get it back, I am the only one left.” he looks at his fallen comrades before he looks around to the five of you; “My name is Mikmek, who is it that I owe my life too?”
Dhavik speaks up; “Look at that. The one smart enough to speak common pledges fealty to you.” looking at the kobold; “I think this could work out…”
Updated Map
Kunala cast Dancing Lights and uses it to illuminate the chasm. It does reveal more, but more of the same. The thick root system that you see goes down roughly 30 feet, but it is mostly blocked by roots. It is hard to make out, but you think that Kunala’s light is reflecting off of something red in the depth of the chasm.
The opposite side reveals a bit more, there is a room there and you can see something moving about within but not enough to tell what it is. The roots prevent that.
Dhavik responds to Kunala’s statement of But there’s no reason to risk your little owl “Speaking of… where did the little creature go?”

Ok, may as well drop out of combat rounds
'Too many roots. As Kunala's dancing lights shift in and out of the roots, Iradyiel getures towards the other side with the falchion. "There is a room across there, and there is some movement but I can't make anything out." Leaning and looking down, "The bottom looks about thirty foot down and it looks like something red is reflecting the light." Shrugging, "But I'm not sure.
Hearing the conversation from behind, Iradyiel turns and smiles at Dhavik's comment and listens to the ensuing conversation.
Kunala
"Blast!" Shaking his head, "No way to prevent him from warning others, or doubling back this way after we leave." gesturing towards the other side, "We'll have to assume the motion you saw was the escaping mite."
Turning to the others, "Were blown, they know we're here." Pausing for a moment, 'Mikmek, well Caitir started the conversation, I won't interrupt.' Wiping the mite blood on one of the dead mites cloaks, Kunala pauses, letting the ladies introduce themselves first.

Mikmek walks up to the fallen mites and he picks up three small sized daggers. “What brings you in here? Seems like it’s a little cramped for you to come with no reason.” Mikmek moves to this fallen comrades and begins to cut them free from the roots that tie them to the wall. As he lays them on the ground he speaks something over them before returning his attention to the group; “Well? Will you help me find my clans holy statue and then I will be your squire?”
With a roll of his eyes, Dhavik moves to look into the chasm; “Something red and reflecting you say? Wonder what kind of treasures these mites have stolen and tucked away in this tunnel system…” he quickly looks into the chasm then moves back to join the group.
Caitir
"She was just trying to help is all, she probably didn't expect those roots to be so tough. Calm down, she doesn't have much in the way of sharp metal weapons like I do."
"I'm Caitir, and I don't give a damn about life debts. You can come along and help if you want, but its your life, do whatever you like provided it doesn't stuff things up for us" she finishes, before nodding at Dhavik.
"Amber is fine, she's just hanging back. She's just a little owl and likes to stay away from combat. Besides, there wasn't a lot of point her flying above us glowing like a lantern when we were trying to stealth our way into an ambush".
Fully aware that the mites already knew they were here, and little was to be gained via stealth, Caitir inputs two fingers in her mouth and utters a short whistle. Moments later, Amber flutters into the room, circling overhead and hooting happily.
Caitir comes across as a little rude here because she doesn't really approve of the concept of life debts even though she isn't really complaining about having an extra pair of hands to help out.

Mirana sadly watches her quarterstaff shrink in size as the magic wears off and it returns to its normal length. She was a little disheartened that she hadn't really managed to hit anyone with it apart from a few tree roots and that had ended up doing more harm than good.
"I'm Mirana, sorry about the tree roots, I thought I could snap or break a few with a good strike" she offers by way of an explanation before gazing down the tunnel.
"Its a little disappointing but I think we would have had to be extremely fortunate to prevent all six of them from escaping somehow. These damn small tunnels don't really make maneuvering around easy to do. Still, whats that...seven mites down so far in total? I'm sure that there are more of them, but hopefully not much more of them"
With Mirana's First World fey knowledge via her backstory, would she know how many mites might exist in a tribe or is that information a little too specific to know? Its a big of a long shot :(

'Not interested in life debts? Hopefully he won't be offended.' Smiling at the Kobold, Kunala interjects, reaching out to shake his hand "Mikmek, I am Kunala," He gestures towards Iradyiel, "And this is my brother Iradiel." Nodding toward Dhavik, 'And our friend Dhavik." He put's his hand to his chin. "As for the life debt, let us see what unfolds. If not a squire, I think we can at least use a friend amongst the Kobold clan. You see we are here to bring peace and stability to the area. We were hunting human bandits when we met four of your fellow Kobolds, who were hunting radishes, and asked them for help dealing with some human bandits. They agreed to help us if we found and returned the tribes holy statue. So we already share the same goal." Gesturing back the way they came. "I am not saying the others are disingenuous but it will be good to have a true friend."

As Kunala speechifies, Iradyiel steps closer to Dhavik, "See I told you he talks to much. As for that pit, I figure we can check that last, they will probably flee there, assuming the other path goes to the other side of this chasm." As Kunala talks, Iradyiel starts to check the room for anything of value. Pausing long enough, once his brother is through. "I don't know a squire would be nice. If things don't work out with the tribe he can come with us. I can always use help with something."
Moving toward Mikmek, Iradyiel extends a hand. "Nice to meet you Mikmek, like my brother said I'm Iradyiel." He gestures towards the dead Kobolds, "I noticed you said a prayer over your friend, are you a priest or something?"
