I find that I didn't particularly like any of the options of undead characters for what I was thinking, although Stanislav above me seems pretty cool. However, I got the next best thing, I think.

Submitting Slidinom, a Dhampir Unchained Rogue (Master of Disguise) who I intend to work towards the Assassin prestige class. He's a face/skill character with sneaky sneaks.

About Slidinom Kolmo:

Appearance
Slid is a beautiful stern-looking man with pale face and black eyes and purplish hair. His features are so gentle that he is sometimes mistaken for a woman, which he doesn't mind. He carries a rapier strapped to his belt and a couple of daggers too, along with a hand crossbow. It always looks as though he is smiling, although it is not always clear why.

Background
Slidinom Kolmo was born in Vigil, Lastwall. Although his father is not known to him, his human mother was a kind woman who died at childbirth. As he grew as an orphan, he did not see any lack of compassion as he begged for money. Over time, however, he realized he felt more at peace in the nights and he started to avoid daylight.

Not only the citizens, but even the other children began to grow afraid of him. He felt no remorse to lie, cheat and manipulate others to get to what he wanted. In his teenage years, he was so shunned that he felt completely isolated, and began to cherish the loniness.

Slid was already aware that he wasn't a human being by the time he committed his first murder. He remembers it very vividly, as the woman who took him to her room recognized him as the person she had scoffed a few nights before. Her lust turned to fear as he unceremoneously slit her throat. He watched her life drain away and the thrill he felt was not over taking a life, but over witnessing the shift in power, as she was completely powerless now.

He knew that what he did was forbidden, but he felt better for it. As far as he knew, the rules only made his life worse. The newly awoken Slid left the woman's room smiling that he didn't even remember her name, and set foot to the streets once more. After that, he started to look for signs that there were others like him, that didn't feel bad over a kill. He became obsessed with finding an organization called the 'assassin's guild', although the evidence of its existence was flimsy at best. His obsession drove him to the point where he invaded a wizard's study to look for evidence, only to be discovered and arrested for it.

Personality
Slid is a very focused and agile man, who prefers to listen much more than to talk. When talking, he chooses his words carefully and always attempts to charm those around him. In truth, he doesn't really care about others' feelings, but likes to keep them unaggressive. He dislikes confrontation, and likes to end fights swiftly. He dreams of someday being able to keep his head up high, with no one to talk down on him.

Silver Crusade

Thinking about either a necromancer themed wizard/sorcer/or arcanist (unsure which at this time.)

or an anti-paladin

Silver Crusade

going for the necromancer rough outline for background, deciding between arcanist or wizard.

background:

When Vinnick's family was all but destroyed, He stumbled upon a grimiore of the Dark Arts and saw the power it held within. Power enough to possibly gain his revenge. So began his studies. To him, necromancy isn't just about what many make it to be, the raising of dead and binding of souls or even the eventual process of turning oneself into one of the dead. Honestly the idea of the later disgusts Varzel. Vinnick sees the necromantic arts as more of the controlling and manipulation of life energy. The same way Evocation wizards bend and control the elements, or like conjurers and transmuters manipulate and bend the physical world to their desires, so too does a necromancer bend and control the very energies of life(or unlife).

To Vinnick, The power gained from the Dark arts is no more or less evil than the others, it is but a tool. A potent tool in which he sees the chance to not only gain his vengeance, but do it in a bit of irony. He sees undead to as a tool, to be used at the appropriate time and place. His studies have allowed him to pursue his goals, and has allowed him to gain more than his ample share of gold. However he still seeks to avenge his family and bring "enlightenment" to lastwall.

Vinnick Has his own goals outside of Revenge however , they are-
1. Immortality, Vinnick seeks immortality, or, at least immunity to aging. However he seeks this in a way that maintains his... life energy and keeps it from becoming corrupted. (in other words, not being undead, however he does study the powers behind undead beings in hopes of finding loopholes in the magic. Or possibly a way he can go about it without causing the corruption. he wants to live life forever, not live a half-life forever.)

2. magical artifacts, He has a penchant of collecting things, particularly if they are potent magic items or implements whether cursed or not. He may not use them all, but he enjoys having them. Besides, he sees his having any cursed items as a way to keep them from causing more harm.

3. Renown. He wants to restore his families name, potentially to even greater heights than it was at his families peak. He would like to live well enough so that he may pursue his studies without the need of keeping up a merchant/adventurers life.

4. Purpose, He seeks something greater in life, something worth dedicating his (potentially) infinite time and great skill of magic to. One of the pursuits on this one is to have undead do most, if not all menial labor in life. After all, if the necessary things are taken care of by the dead, the living can then pursue higher callings.

note on alignment- While he isn't "evil"....yet, events are quickly leading him down that path ( I see him as becoming LE very quickly). He doesn't seek to harm anyone that he believes does not deserve it though he would certainly willingly sacrifice someone he sees as "innocent" to attain his goals. He will happily let harm come to someone he believes "deserves it" in those pursuits. He isn't above an amount of torture to people and is capable of some pretty... bad things, especially if on his own. He isn't keen on second chances, but doesn't deny the possibility that people might change, however unlikely it is.

Family:

The Varzels-
They were a moderate nobly family, not particularly renown, though not impoverished either. They were known for their bloodlines talent in magic. However, they were accused and quickly convicted of cooperating with Evil cults and being accused of working with the Whispering Way. Another noble family used the opportunity to "remove" them and seize their wealth. Killing off almost the entire family with the excuse that they all resisted and could not be trusted. Vinnick and his sister were apprehended by authorities at a market and taken into custody from there for a more thorough investigation. The reason for this conviction was that the Varzel line had a habit of collecting magical items, be they cursed or not and in so doing had gained some items from the Way. This, along with Vinnick and his dads active creation of undead sentenced them to death. While many question the authenticity of the takeover and the alleged accusations vs what had, until then, been a rather well regarded house, undoubtedly in nor part due to its work against the undead and other Ilk of the such. If you wanted to know more, like, names, what they did etc. Let me know if it matters and I'll PM you.

ticks and appearance:

Vinnick is rather impatient when it comes to some things, particularly those that he has no real interest in and often shows this by staring lazily towards the horizon, or at a person in cases of conversation.

He holds his appearance in high regard, and always makes sure to keep it in tip top shape. Particularly his clothes and hair. A mirror is ALWAYS on his person.

Appearance:

Vinnick normally wears silken robes of black, with intricate patterns of silver, and gold running along its entirety. He has several tattoos of arcane sigils and his platinum hair is well kept, clean, and glossy.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So reviewing the submissions I have seen so far I am leaning towards this as the party.

I like the character from Joy (Arielle Windsong the bard)

I also like the character from Cuchulainn (Coriandrinne Vespida Anti-Paladin of Calistria)

Dark one the drow is bringing a kobolt druid bent on destroying civilizations.

Stanislav Greymist (submitted by Skorn) A fighter turning vampire.

Anthorn has a Dhampir Unchained Rogue

And rorek 55 is making a necromancer themed arcanist

Yes, I think this is who I will be going with. Anyone else can submit a concept for a character that I will keep as a backup in case someone drops out or if I decide to open another game (hell's enforcers perhaps I bought all the books and never even finished part 1) but I wont be starting up another until I get the ball rolling on these two.

Good luck.

I figured I had a bit more time to choose between an Orcish infiltrator from Belkzen and a self proclaimed "Reaper of Lastwall"

Liberty's Edge

Great! Looking forward to the adventure, and meeting my fellow inmates for the first time.

Based on our backgrounds that include minor noble families of the town I propose that Slidinom Kolmo and Stanislav Greymist knew each other at least passingly before things got hot for them. It may be that Slid's family had even paid Stanislav a small sum to smuggle an antiquity or two into the city for them. Thougths?

Cool! I'll set up the alias later and we can start rolling.

Coriandrinne's backstory involves smuggling, too (her not-father, Chester Brasskettle). It would be interesting if that ended up being a tie-in that came up later on, once the characters got to know each other.

Uhm, didn't see your post, sorry. Slid's family isn't noble, he begged for money in his childhood. Did I miss something?

My kobold, probably will not know any of the characters before ending up staying together in the fine accommodation of the prison.

Hmm. I was confusing background stories, Its Vinnick that hails from a minor noble house. Sorry. :)

Grand Lodge

Ok, here's Slid's alias.

I woke up this morning with huge headache and blocked nose and sinus, besides very aching body. Seems I have picked up summer flu. Will be slow today to complete the character.

Well the beginnings of R'yzzntyg Valignatirnarod profile, the female red kobold draconic druid.

Struggling to focus with this annoying flu.

Did I pm everyone about the background/start just wanted to confirm with everyone with them the cause of their imprisonment.

Feel free to do a short into post in the main campaign and we will slowly get started.

DireMerc, I have a few questions, just for clarity:

I assume all our gear is taken, but what sort of clothing are we left wearing (including shoes, if any)?

Are we in a common cell, or individual cells?

What is in the cell(s) (straw mats, buckets, etc)?

Do the cells have bars or doors? If doors, are they solid or do they have a sliding panel for the guards to pass food?

Are there any windows or other means of ventilation or natural lighting?

Where on our bodies were we branded, and with what symbol?

Where we able to see the guards and layout of the prison as we were brought in, or were we blindfolded?

Vinnick was also of a minor noble family, this is the alias I will be using, however please ignore anything in the profile in regards to crunch. I'll be adding a mythweavers link to the profile for his character sheet.

Still haven't quite decided on whether I will go for a thassilonion magic/undead master archetype wizard, or a twilight sage arcanist. Its a really tough choice. More spells per day, an undead companion and higher lever spells sooner? Or more versatility and fun exploits? yeesh.

For clothing basically this

Individuals cells at the moment though in moments you will be moved to a common cell but I was going to do that after a few posts when were ready to really start.

The brand is on the forearm it is a large F which stands for "forsaken"

You were brought in via a prison wagon. You don't know the layout of the prison thought your aware it's an island with only a single bridge on and off. Your vaguely aware that the number of guards at the prison is small likely around twenty or so. Your aware there is a warden called the "old man" by the guards but you've never seen him you've mostly just dealt with Sergeant Tomas Blackerly the man who personally branded you and take a lot of pleasure from beating on prisoners.

I got the PM. That was rough.

I'll move it along once everyone has made at least one post in the campaign tread.

Maybe you want to attach a discussion thread =)

Didn't I? I see it don't you?

here

Who applied and didn't get accepted? I might have a missing player, looks like joy hasn't posted in nearly 5 days and I didn't notice.

Just getting back online.

What with everything going on, it was really hard to get anyone to come out and fix my internet, but it finally got done and I am back online.

I do still need to finish up my character since I haven't been able to get on.

Should be fine just get and alias up and we will proceed with just rp for now and you can finish the crunch before we get to combat

Alias up and posted.

Just need to finish purchasing equipment then done.

Hello, I am looking to add a few more members to this group.

Pathfinder 1st edition.

The party is currently Level 5.

The campaign follows the events of the Tyrant's Grasp campaign but is seen from the point of view of the villains. As such your character must be of evil alignment and are currently sworn into the service of Tar-Baphon. How you ended up in this situation is up to you but basically, an agent offered you something you wanted bad enough or you were in a hopeless situation and you made a deal to escape and you signed a contract that binds you into service to a devil who is himself bound to follow the commands of Tar-Baphon.

Your current objective is the utter destruction of the Nation of Last Wall.

I am interseted

Hi DireMerc! I'm a new player here at the forums trying to find a good game to join. I'm used to play and GM in person, but not really via forums - although I had been reading the existing games and getting a better grasp at it.

If it would be okay for someone like me to apply, I'd love to! I never really got to play a villain (well, besides NPCs when I'm GMing...) and it could be fun.

In full disclosure, though, I had played (but not GMed) Tyrant's Grasp in the past (not sure if it would be an issue, since it's coming from the villains' PoV, but thought I'd ask anyway).

I'm interested. What kind of power level did you have in mind for the PCs for this game?

@Elwyn good any idea what you want to play?

@lapyd Not an issue for me

@mid to high just not crazy overpowered.

Keep in mind this will be a campaign focused more on roleplay than combat. Fights against minor characters will be skipped and only Major Conflicts will be fought normally.

There will be a base-building aspect coming soon.

So most classes are fine with me just no psionic classes. Even 3rd party or even custom-made stuff can be allowed so long as I ok it. I even created a new Prestige Class for one player.

Players will have 20 point buy for starting stats and 10 000 gp starting gold and start at level 5.

The group currently has a human antipaladin, a human-vampire fighter and a kobolt druid. Don't feel compelled do balance out the party thought just play whatever you think would be fun.

As a player in the game I will pipe in to note that we lost an arcane caster and a rogue/skills type.

It is not my intent to be tedious, just looking for clarity. By psionic, are you referring to the occult classes?

@Saashaa Yes I am.

The particular character I had in mind was a telekinetic focused spellcaster. I had chosen Psychic solely due to specific spells being only on the Psychic list. Would you perchance be amenable to me having access to the spells with say, a sorcerer or wizard?

(The specific spells being: Rend Body and Telekinetic Storm)

(As well as others that were thematically appropriate like Implosion and Earthquake)

I have a few I was thinking of... an elven wizard (necromancer) or a tiefling (Rakshasa-Spawn (Beastbrood)) sorcerer (rakshasa bloodline).

Hi GM, it's Lapyd here! Thanks for allowing this newbie here to apply :) I'm introducing Arboretta, a bard designed to work more out of combat with skills/etc., and in combat serve more as a buffer / controller / wand yielder. Thanks for the consideration!

@saashaa I'd allow those spells so long as Rend body loses the ability to remove limbs. So it would become "The target creature takes 1d6 points of damage per caster level you have (maximum 10d6 points of damage). The target then takes 1 point of bleed damage per 2 caster levels you have. The bleeding can be stopped by a successful DC 15 Heal check or the application of any effect that heals hit point damage"

I'd even be willing to reduce the casting time to a standard action and the spell's level to 4.

Telekinetic Storm storm is fine as is.

I am the crazy draconic druid kobold, and our necromancer wizard is till with us, with his minion hoard in the making.

@DireMerc: I'm interested and just wanted to clarify - no Mesmerists? They're my favoritest ever class and can be gorgeously evil, but you said no psionics and then occult so I assume they're out?

Assuming that's the case I'll consider other options.

How would a shadowy stealthy and infiltration focused Nocticulan Oracle sound like? Probably more ranged then melee based.

Well looks like our missing Necromancer Wizard has returned so I have one less slot to fill. So now we have a wizard necromancer, a vampire fighter, an anti-paladin, and a druid.

I'm still willing to take on two players. I'm looking at the character's backstory/motivations and overall personally more than anything else.

That being said a roguish assassin type would fit well or another arcane caster.

I'm considering a shadow oracle that was previously a mercenary dungeon delver (trap specialist). He was cursed with the shadows after trying to pocket a relic during a delve. He was caught and imprisoned. As time has passed, the shadows have been overtaking him. He sees the system as broken and wants revenge for his imprisonment.

What is the trait situation?

Character concept:

Half Orc/Thiefling mercenary from the Hold of Belkzen. Quite charismatic, arrogant and cocky. Belkzen wants to see who will prevail before comitting, and probably has people on both Lastwall and Belkzen side.

Maybe Insinuator for peak mercenary, Landsknecht style?
