Almaas Kargar |
Almaas walks into the cavern.
He looks at the woman with a smile.
"Finally, someone who only wants to talk. My name is Almaas. I want to understand what you believe we can bring to the table to help you?"
He looks at the back where his companions are.
"Hey guys, come in here. They are peaceful here and just want to talk."
He then turns back.
"Yes, so you lady look quite fancy. I like your style. You surely have a lot of stories to tell about your community."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30
Sense Motive to feel how they react: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
Dawa Kookpa |
Dawa listens to the conversation between Almaas and the mysterious lady with interest.
GM Jhaeman |
The woman snorts. "There's no need to be coy. I know you're adventurers and friends of the tavern owner in Dustpawn, come to investigate the 'meteor.' Well, I know where the crash site is, and if you clear the area of dangers and leave a certain object there alone, I'll make it worth your while." She holds out a large coin purse that clinks when she shakes it.
Butt out!
Almaas Kargar |
Almaas raises an eyebrow.
"To be honest, I had no idea who you were but it seems as if you have some affiliation with the dark figures that have been haunting the town and with whom we had some interaction."
Almaas looks at his companions with question marks on his face.
He turns back to the woman.
"I do not want to judge you right now. Tell me what it is that you seek? And please elaborate why this item is of importance to you? Oh, and do you now this lady?" he asks and points at the bat-elf.
GM Jhaeman |
"What fell from the heavens was no mere rock. It was a vessel that sailed among the stars! And inside, there is a model of planets and suns--an orrery. Bring it to me, and these 250 platinum pieces will be yours." She shakes the coin bag again. "As for why I want it, that's my business, and it won't make these coins any less shiny." The woman shrugs when asked about the bat-elf. "I said there would be dangers at the crash site. There's your proof, dwarf."
Almaas Kargar |
Almaas has had enough information to know that negotiations are over and that this woman is callous!
He focuses on her to seek Erastil's aid and shoots an arrow at the lady!

Almaas Kargar |
As we go into initiative Almaas full attack with rapid shot and his boots of speed. Please deduct -2 from above attack rolls and consider the below attacks on top of the one in my post above during the full attack.
He focuses on her to seek Erastil's aid and shoots an arrow at the lady!
Swift action: Bane human. 11/12 rounds remaining
Primary rapid shot longbow to hit : 1d20 + 19 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 19 - 2 = 27
Primary rapid shot Longbow damage : 1d8 + 9 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 9 + (4, 5) = 21 + potentially sneak attack if flatfooted and +2 for studied target which was an immediate action after first attack: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Haste longbow to hit : 1d20 + 19 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 19 - 2 = 34
Haste Longbow damage : 1d8 + 9 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 9 + (2, 6) = 20 + potentially sneak attack / studied target if flatfooted: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Secondary longbow to hit : 1d20 + 19 - 5 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 19 - 5 - 2 = 25
Haste Longbow damage : 1d8 + 9 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 9 + (1, 2) = 18 + potentially sneak attack / studied target if flatfooted: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
In case the lady drops Almaas directs the attacks on the other two guys and if they are human with the same attack / damage.
GM Jhaeman |
Initiative (Round 1)
Almaas
Izlin
Tachonious
Robed Men
Taman
Xilt
Abtaroh
Dawa
Bold may go!
Initiative (Taman): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Initiative (Dawa): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Initiative (Tachonious: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Initiative (Xilt): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Initiative (Almaas): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Initiative (Izlin): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Initiative (robes): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Initiative (Abtaroh): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
GM Jhaeman |
Almaas suddenly snaps and sends a volley of arrows at the woman he was just negotiating with! All three arrows easily sink into her belly, and she's badly hurt.
That was an unexpected turn of events based on the conversation up to that point, but whatever works :) I counted your second post as the one representing your turn, and you did 80 points of damage to her. She's still up, but definitely hurting.
Izlin and Tachonious are up.
Tachonius |
There was no changing the course of events now.
Tachonius declares his judgement against them (+2 saves, +3 damage) and moves into the midst of the robed men.
Move and then attack blue.
+1 Keen Falcata: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (20) + 17 = 37 Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Confirm: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36 Damage: 2d8 + 18 ⇒ (8, 4) + 18 = 30
Remember +2 DC to cast arcane spells defensively if threatened by Tachonius.
Taman Hornraven |
GM can you take my rolls on my turn?
Izlin Greymantle{Toku Kara Shi} |
The magus slides into the room, drawing out a dagger on the way. He considers enchanting the weapon with a spell, but seeing as she is already wounded, decides to hold off.
Dagger vs BLACK{PBS/Keen}: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Damage: 1d4 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
CONFIRM: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
Damage: 1d4 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
LOL. I am glad I held off on the Intensified Shocking Grasp. I think an additional 14d6 would have seemed like a lot over overkill. Awesome, but probably not needed. I am gonna kick myself if she is still alive.
Taman Hornraven |
No need to bot me
GM Jhaeman |
It's clear that the remaining robed figure knows that he's hopelessly outmatched, but he bravely fights nonetheless, attempting to cast a spell on Tachonious!
The man is going to try casting defensively. Tachonious, I'll keep in mind the +2 DC adjustment from you. A high roll, and he succeeds.
Tachonious, he's trying to cast charm person on you. Unless you're immune, you need to roll a DC 13 Will save or think of this guy as your best bud.
Casting Defensively vs. DC 19: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Tachonius |
Not immune, but Tachonius gets +2 to saves vs arcane Enchantment spells and against mind-affecting effects gets to roll twice and take the better result, so a 1 in 400 chance of rolling double 1s.
WILL: 1d20 + 19 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 19 + 2 = 27
or
WILL: 1d20 + 19 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 19 + 2 = 38
"My mind is an impregnable fortress. That was your first and last mistake."
Taman Hornraven |
Taman moves closer to Robed man and attacks.
+3 large bastard sword - power attack - Furious Focus : 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
damage: 2d8 + 10 + 9 ⇒ (1, 7) + 10 + 9 = 27
Tzleztor |
The little elemental flies in out in front before breathing out a current of salt crystals at the wizard.
"Master. I got him this time. Look at me!"
Breath Weapon Slashing DC 13 for 1/2 and avoid being sickened: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Xilt Sphinx |
Xilt runs up finally able to use his rod of intensify. His arms and legs pumping frantically to get into proper position and then he unloads a cone of fire at the poor caster.
"Good Tzleztor. Soften him up."
Burning Hands Reflex DC 18, Intensified,Arcane Point spent CL10: 10d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 1, 3, 1, 3, 3, 3, 3) = 27
DC 13 for a caster is so sad. :( I almost feel bad attacking him.
Dawa Kookpa |
Dawa moves up and exhorts his comrades to victory (Move action Inspire Courage: bonus is now +4/+4). Then, seeing his friend blasting the sole enemy still standing with fire, prepares to afflict him with bad luck. Immediate action to use Misfortune on him if he rolls 13 or higher on his Reflex save.
Is there room for K'nai to fit here? I think I saw something indicating that even Medium have to squeeze?
GM Jhaeman |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Between Taman's sword and Xilt's conjuration of waves of fire, the remaining foe is killed instantly!
Poor guy had a natural 20 on his first attempt to save vs that fire. He would've still been in negatives, but alive. Misfortune is a cruel, cruel thing :)
Reflex vs Mephit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Reflex (sickened) vs burning hands: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Misfortune reroll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
We are off Initiative.
Tzleztor |
The Mephit smiles as the poor wizard is struck down and then incinerated.
"Smells like BBQ. I even seasoned him and Taman was kind enough to slice him up. Anyone hungry?"
Xilt Sphinx |
Xilt is hopeful that perhaps the spell caster might have a spell book on hand.
"Perhaps we should examine the bodies. You never know.
He recovers his spell with a pearl of power and then searches for magic (Cast Detect Magic).
@Dawa - My character's Spell DCs start at 18 but it is easy to misunderstand on a quick read of my last post.
Dawa Kookpa |
@Dawa - My character's Spell DCs start at 18 but it is easy to misunderstand on a quick read of my last post.
Nope, I understood. I just wanted to contribute something and Misfortune doesn't cost me anything to use (besides an immediate action); its only limitation is once/day/target. And the "13" I was referring to in my post was a 13+ on the die roll, not a total of 13. Misfortune has to be declared after you see the die roll but before you know the result.
Dawa Kookpa |
Dawa also smiles to see their foes cut down so mercilessly. Though he's not quite sure what they did to deserve it, in his current mood he's sure that they must have done something!
Almaas Kargar |
Almaas is a little ashamed about starting the fight.
He immediately tries to stabilize those that still have a whole body.
Casting stabilize on the lady and the others.
heal, anybody alive? : 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
GM Jhaeman |
While Xilt looks for magic items, Almaas manages to stabilize the woman and one of the men. The other man, unfortunately, is beyond saving.
Both of the foes in negatives had plenty of rounds left before they died (13 and 14, respectively), so I'm willing to assume that you manage to stabilize them (or they stabilize on their own).
Almaas Kargar |
Almaas casts detect magic and also tries to check their belongings. He then searches the room.
perception : 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25
GM Jhaeman |
Almaas Kargar |
Almaas is stunned.
”Look what I found!! Magic items! Let’s identify them.“
Spoiler: You found a plethora of magical items. On the robed men, you find two each of: Dark orange potions, Green potions, Blue Arcane scrolls, Yellow Arcane scrolls, Red Arcane scrolls, Green Arcane scrolls, Black Wands, and Black discs with a ring of white dots around the rim. On the woman, the magical items you find are : Mwk crossbow bolts (x10), Two Dark orange potions, a Glass Wand, a Gold amulet, a Leather Belt, a finely-tooled quiver, and a Jeweled Headband .

”Anybody know what this is?“
Spoiler: On the table are three small, fist-sized spheres (Knowledge: Geography to remember something about them).
Almaas Kargar |
And Almaas shows the rest of the findings.
From spoiler:
In addition to the magic items, a search of the room turns up the following. 1) The crystals on the walls are relatively worthless rock crystals. 2) The tables to the north hold a number of alchemical and magical supplies. A successful Craft (alchemy) or Knowledge (arcana) will identify them. 3) The small writing desk contains a book written in Aklo. 4) The prisoners & body have some non-magical gear: four doses of sparkling powder (Craft: alchemy or Knowledge: arcana to identify), a dagger, a light crossbow, ten crossbow bolts, 250 platinum pieces, 183 gold pieces, two masterwork daggers, and two spellbooks.
kn arcana on 2) above : 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Xilt Sphinx |
Xilt rubs his hands together like a small child on Christmas morning.
"Now this seems to be quite the haul. What exactly did we get I wonder?"
He motions for Tzleztor to watch his six as he hunkers down with his spellbook for a quick one minute memorization of a spell.
He then casts Heroism on himself.
Read Magic on all the scrolls to verify what Almaas has discovered.
Take 10 on Knowledge Arcana for the following:
K-Arcana 30 on Alchemical equipment on tables to the North.
K-Arcana 30 on four doses of Sparkling Powder.

He casts Detect Magic on the spellbooks and the book written in Aklo looking for magical protections and he then checks all three for traps before examining them.

Tachonius |
Tachonius keeps an eye out for any signs of stirring from their prisoners while the others examine the items. Occasionally he peers out of the cave entrance to make sure they are not being interrupted.

Dawa Kookpa |
Is there anything we have not yet identified? Dawa has Detect Magic and +5 Spellcraft
Dawa gazes covetously at the three orbs. "These have clearly been left here as signs for us of Lunar power! How fortunate that we have rescued them from these trouble-makers!"

Tachonius |
"We could try to rouse the leader here and ask a few questions. She'll just have to be tied up to try to keep her from casting."
Almaas Kargar |
Almaas nods.
“Let us first distribute the found items among us. Then we can search the rest of the cave. And lastly when we have all information, we can interrogate all captured people. Ehhh ... again sorry for attacking. I really don’t know what drove me?!“ he says apologetically.
