The sky eel's eye discs widen as Vozzik approaches. A moment later the half-human projects a rainbow colour out of space at the surprised thing. It drops like rock into the water where it becomes a sort of liquid stain like oil in water.

Vozzik dusts his hands and says "Would any of the rest of you care to emulate an early bird?" He then takes another look around, seeing if there are any further threats or items of interest about (Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9), before moving up and readying his sword cane to strike the incapacitated worm.
I don't think any of the rest of the party except probably Xavier could make it up to swing at it in less than two rounds, and I think Xavier doesn't much want to get in the water, so...should I roll for damage, or will we handwave a succession of CDGs?

It is already pre-CDG being a stain on the surface of the water. And people climbing the flaming bookshelves might have issues from fire. Xavier for instance, if he doesn't dive off soon.

Working together as a group the party can push over the bookshelves without needing to roll. They are heavy and waterlogged at the bottom making it tough for even 2 or 3 people, but not impossible.

The party winds its way through a labyrinth of narrow archways now flooded with the chest-deep water. They step over stacks of books that have washed off the shelves or that had just been piled on the floor before the flood.
There are places that Xavier has to swim of otherwise be carried through until the party finds itself before an intersection with stout looking closed two doors.
At this point I am assuming that Xavier has hopped up onto a nearby shelf and everyone else is in the water.

I just realized there are no shelves or anything for Xavier to stand on where I placed him, so:

The water at present is calm, so it is a DC 10 to swim and you can take 10 if you have any ranks in the Swim skill. I have another group I'm running this for with a party that includes: a gnome, a wayang, and a halfling. One of them uses a pistol.... ;)
