Welcome one and all to the Crypt of the Everflame!

A few notes:

1) You are all from the town of Kassin. You can either know eachother or not, thats up to you. You're also realitivily young and untetsted at this point in time. Part of the point of this quest is to test your abilities as adults and to see what you've learned from your mentors(see point 2).

2) You all will have a mentor so to speak in Kassin that has taught you your craft. Information on the mentors and who has what mentor will be in the spoilers below.

Menas's Mentor:

If you ask a dozen folk in Kassen who the strangest family in town is, you
would get the same answer 12 times: the Vargidans. This old family has a touch of magic in its blood, with each one of the children showing some sorcerous talent. Where this magic comes from is a mystery, and the family refuses to speak of such things in mixed company. Lording over the family is the wealthy and eccentric patriarch, Moltus Vargidan. This aging man has white hair that trails down to his knees, and he can ofen be found wandering the halls of the estate, muttering to himself. Living with him are almost a dozen children (each from a different wife) and a pair of lifelong servants. Sorcerers who come from this house have been forced to learn things for themselves, because the old man shares few of his secrets, and many of the
children are starting to believe that his grip on reality is slowly slipping.

Finn Gingerberry:

The small town of Kassen has only one temple and it is devoted primarily to Erastil, but Father Prasst allows those who worship other friendly gods to pray at the temple as well. While Father Prasst does not offer services in the names of these deities, there are small shrines to other gods set up in some of the alcoves, including Gozreh, Gorum, Shelyn, and Torag. Father Prasst is a kind and understanding man, but he is hard when it comes to the defense of the community. He is quite young, only 24, and many in the community do not put too much faith in his council, except in spiritual matters. He was trained as a soldier in Tamran, but he le$ a$er his first battle to become a priest, and refuses to say why.

Thave Arustunson:

Those who frequent the Seven Silvers tavern know to count their coins before they leave the table, especially if they have been served by “Short Change,” the halfling waiter who has a propensity for giving less change than is due (although he insists the name is due to his short stature). Although Jimes is genuinely kind and helpful to all the locals, he just can’t help but end up with some of their possessions at the end of the night, be it a few coins
or a loose dagger. Most of the townsfolk are quite aware of this and do not take too much offense if something goes missing. Afer all, they know where the missing goods went. Anyone who works with Jimes at the Seven Silvers is sure to get a host of tips and tricks from this good-natured thief, who thinks that a little petty the$ is all in good fun

Sariel:

The people of Lastwall, the militaristic nation to the north, take it as their responsibility to keep the orcs of Belkzen in check. Unfortunately, their forces are spread thin, so they rely on a number of scouts close to the border
of Belkzen to keep watch. Sir Dramott is one such scout. Although he has no authority here in town, he regularly reports to his commanders in Lastwall, informing them of any orc activity. Mayor Uptal is grateful for Sir Dramott’s assistance whenever trouble is brewing, but he is concerned about a military
officer from a foreign land stationed in his town. The people of Kassen respect Sir Dramott, but they would rather he go home and leave them to their own devices. As a mentor, Sir Dramott is capable and wise, if a bit harsh. Unfortunately, all of his lessons deal with service to Lastwall, and his pupils are taught to think of such service as a high honor.

I am glad to have made the cut. Thave is a clever charming lad, but prone to trouble. He is full of stories of his elven fathers, Udriliss Zhol, exploits. Not that he ever met the man. He was raised by his mother and spent much of his youth going through a chest left behind by Udriliss.

I'd be happy to have spent time with any of you before.

Thanks for the selection. Finn has lived in Kassen for the past several years and would likely be known by anyone but especially those who spent time in the seven silvers tavern or the towns temple.

Thanks for the invite DM Mathpro.

Sariel grew up in Kassen, he is the nephew and assistant of a local blacksmith and a devout follower of Erastil and helps at the temple. So any worshipers of Erastil would know him as well as may know him from the blacksmith shop.

Also still trying to change the icon, the present image is a different alliteration of Sariel.

edit: Hey Finn if your a friend of Father Prasst or are referring to 'that' temple you would at least have seen Sariel and his pet pig.

Does Sariel’s pig have a name?

Looks like Finn will know both Sariel and Thrave.

yes he is named after one of Erastil's unique servants "Proudsnout." He's a friendly runt of a pig that Sariel rescued

I contacted Menas via PM just now so he should be by to join us shortly. I am going to try and get the intro post up for us today but I have 2 other games I need to select players for today and they have lots of interest which means lots of submissions to weed through...they're also level 13 and 16 so more details to check. If I don't get the starter post up today I'll get to it tomorrow for sure. I work 1-9 tomorrow so I have 8 hours to get it up.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. If you need any help selecting those high level characters just let us know :)

Lol very tempting

Well I got my selections made but I'm going to have to log off in like 7 minutes so I appologize but it looks like the game thread is going to wait until tomorrow.

I was happily surprised to be chosen. Hello, all.

Giving Menas's early hospitality training, the young sorcerer treated everyone in town very fairly and did his best to on at least good terms with all he meets.
I can see Menas pestering Sariel and Thave for any woodland lore he might know, due to Sariel being servant of Erastil, and Thave's elven heritage, but coming up short.

Hey Menas, double check, but I don't think were using background skills.

Thave is a bit of a know it all, and would confidently answer any question you asked. However your Knowledge would far outstrip his, but for all his bluster he is keen to learn.

Anyone long from Kassen would have know him simply as Thave. it is only in the last few months that he has taken the name Arustunson

Sariel, you are right again. I thought Math posted his approval, but it was the opposite. Removing them now.

GM can you open up the gameplay thread so we can dot and delete. It will make it easier for checking/getting updates.

Hey sorry for the lack of posts...I have some sort of mix between a cold and the flu. Had a 103.4 degree fever.

The last time Sariel was in Kassen was Feb 26, 2016, that means he's waited more than four years. I think he can wait until your feeling better.

Take care of yourself DM Mathpro, were not going anywhere.

No worries. Take care of yourself and get well.

Hey guys, I'm back on my feet just going to be a bit trying to catch up on posts. Sorry again for the delay. I'll hopefully get the gameplay thread up sometime before I leave work in 4.5 hours.

Cool!

Play thread is up

Anyone in any other games with Menas? Waiting for him to post before I advance the plot.

Male NG Warpriest 1|HP 12/12|AC 20(T:16, FF:15)|CMB +1, CMD 16|F:6, R:+6, W:+6|Init +5|Perc: +3|Speed 30ft |Spells 1st: 2/2|

I’m not. Have you tried PMing him to let him know that the game play thread is up?

Not yet I'll do that in a bit I have to get game play threads up for my other 3 games.

I know of a couple games he is in, but I'm not in any with him.

I've PM'ed him just now(sorry I kept forgetting) so we'll see if he responds.

Male NG Warpriest 1|HP 12/12|AC 20(T:16, FF:15)|CMB +1, CMD 16|F:6, R:+6, W:+6|Init +5|Perc: +3|Speed 30ft |Spells 1st: 2/2|

Sounds fair. Thanks for the update.

I'm here. Sorry. The game isn't yet on my Campaign Tab so I forgot about it over the weekend.

Hey it happens. Hence why I sent you that pm. Just get a post up and we will get the show on the road

Yeah, he believes Proudsnout understands everyone.

I don't play a lot of Wizards, so Sariel is the only charcter I've played that has Familiar. I wanted to make sure that how I was playing them fit withing what a familiar can actually do. So I went and dug up the rules on familiars. I've assumed Proudsnout understands everything everyone says and that he communicates telepathically with Sariel. Sadly the PFSRD says "Because of the link’s limited nature, only general emotions can be shared." So it doesn't sound like they actually "communicate"

My question is two fold, do you mind if I play Proudsnout like he hears people and responds like a LG pig would. Also since the Chosen ones doesn't have ranks in religion but the emissary does. How does Proudsnout communicate that information. Does he just communicate with feelings and emotions or is he actually able to communicate actual information?

You can play him as if he hears and responds to people and I'm a big fan of "rule of fun" so I'll say he can actually communicate with you telepathically.

So I should have probably asked this earlier but how do you guys want to do combats? I am considering setting something up on roll20 but i've never used it before. Do you think it would speed things up? Otherwise how I usually do things is have you guys post your actions for the round and then I will write up a round summary. It has worked well in the past but I'm wondering if things might run more smoothly on roll20.

Thoughts?

Thanks, that will make things easier, I was trying to figure out how Proudsnout would 'communicate' the information he knew for the 'knowledge (religion)' checks.

Dice rolling on Roll20 doesn't seem to be as quick or smooth as here. But willing to give it a go if you want to.

I vote for dice rolling here on the forums. As for maps, if you are unfamiliar with Roll20, many people have had lots of luck with google doc slides.

Male NG Warpriest 1|HP 12/12|AC 20(T:16, FF:15)|CMB +1, CMD 16|F:6, R:+6, W:+6|Init +5|Perc: +3|Speed 30ft |Spells 1st: 2/2|

I like rolling things here. Unsure about maps. However I’m willing to try anything. If it doesn’t work we can always try something else.

Forum rolls and Google slides is what I am use to. But I love Roll20.

Hey guys just wanted to pop by with a bit of an update. I ended up being gifted a day off today so I won't be able to advance the story til tomorrow afternoon. Thank you for your patience.

Enjoy!

Lucky. Also the avatar issue has been fixed.

Hey guys just a heads up I have a real life game that I'm DMing today so I won't be on much. We're tackling book 2 of Rise of the Runelords with a wizard, a bard, an oracle, and a bloodrager...this should be interesting.

Male NG Warpriest 1|HP 12/12|AC 20(T:16, FF:15)|CMB +1, CMD 16|F:6, R:+6, W:+6|Init +5|Perc: +3|Speed 30ft |Spells 1st: 2/2|

Sounds like fun. Enjoy and stay safe!

I know this is late and not relevant right now but here is the map of the area that I mentioned getting to you a few days ago. Does anyone remember how to put it where the link will appear under the campaign name?

map

also be patient I'm trying to get a battle map up.

Male NG Warpriest 1|HP 12/12|AC 20(T:16, FF:15)|CMB +1, CMD 16|F:6, R:+6, W:+6|Init +5|Perc: +3|Speed 30ft |Spells 1st: 2/2|

Hope all is well with everyone during these crazy times. Stay safe!
