Chuckling an almost human chuckle, Gnasher nods to Tarak, "Storm Blessed guess good enough." Moving towards the door, Bardiche in hand
Gnasher nods at Malgrim's comment, Smiling a wolfish smile. "Ghost right, wealth almost as good as killing Carrion king's gnolls." As he finishes talking, he opens the door and looks inside.

Or at least attempts to. will take 10(19) on perception.

The Ifrit keeps a safe distance as the others seems to indicate that they were ready to tackle the current Gnoll problem (Present company excluded).


The room you peer into has pale blue ceramic censers dangling from copper chains mounted into the ceiling along the edges of this room, filling the chamber with a faint, flickering light. A collection of mismatched boxes and clay urns lines the northern wall, while to the south, numerous rocks have been stacked in front of a pair of doors. To the west, a mound of rocks has been stacked to form a crude throne. And on that throne an interesting creature. Hulking physique with an oversized right arm but stunted legs, a missing ear and bad teeth.

Knowledge(Local) DC12:
The guy on the throne is an Orgekin, part ogre and part human.

Within the room are also 9 malnourished men in rags. As the door opens the one on the "throne" orders "Kill the intruders!"

The men are not quick to leap to obey, but the fearful looks they cast toward the man on the throne suggest that it will happen soon.

Just giving you all init. If I were them I'd not be so quick to charge a well armored group like yours.

I 5 ft step forward, Gather Power, Empower Blast and then use the Extend Range Infusion for 0 Burn to blast the guy on the chair. I lob liberally as needed to avoid cover.

Looks to me like I've got a straight line to the throne guy without hitting any of the probable slaves

With the door open and a clear line to the thing on the throne, Tarak simply says "Nay" and points a hand, chanting out a spell.

Spitting at the sight of the hulking creature on the stone throne, Gnasher growls, "Ogrekin." Holding his ground as the others use their magics against the creature, Gnasher reiterates Urahs words. Glaring at the ogrekin. "Firestarter right, tribe will kill ogrekin, human slaves go free. No interfere and tribe not harm you." Stepping to the right, he glares at the ogrekin, "Tribe will kill you and end reign of terror!"

hmmm not sure if the ogrekin is still alive. If not hoping to convince the humans to stay out of it and taunt the ogrekin to head this way. Gnasher takes a 5 ft step so he can charge if he needs to. Standard: intimidation: The intimidation roll is to Demoralize the ogrekin.

And then hell rains down on Lazrul, for that is the name of our slave turned master. For though he is able to avoid the watery blast and blink away the glitterdust, he realizes he is not all that safe in spite of the slave wall, and when the lightning bolt takes him full in the chest he convulses from the power of it.

Lazrul looks a bit uncertain after being blasted and confronted by a gnoll that looks a bit more dangerous than the ones he's dealt with. Still, that is what slaves are for and he goads them into battle.

"I said kill them!"

The slaves dutifully rush forward, though only three of them are able to get a swing in on Gnasher. One of them gets lucky and connects, though he does not seem overly happy about it.

It hardly seems fair they drop so easily. However, it does not provide more room as the others that were running behind just move up and take their place.

Shaking his head as the humans practically impale themselves on his bardiche, Gnasher growls, "You are foolish humans." Dropping the bardiche, he begins to rage. His paws grow into overly large claws, his eyes glow red, his fangs enlarge and he begins to froth at the mouth. While his brown hide takes on a red-orange cast to it, giving a peculiar laugh. Devoid of what little humanity he had, starting with the slave to the south pink Gnasher tears into the attacker with tooth and claw. Stepping out of the threashold as he makes room for himself.

So will rage regular size, starting with pink, if pink goes down, he will attack blue, if blue goes down he will attack green. Once the attacks are over he will step to pinks location. AC 21, Hp 76, rage 1/16 Attack: bite, claw, + 1 amulet Power attack

@Tarak,
Do you allow the expanding bulk of gnoll to push you back a square? If not, Gnasher will remain a tiny gnoll unless he wants to spend another round of rage to grow after his attacks.

Regardless, Gnasher drops three more. Like a knife through butter.

Lacking a way to reach the big ugly thing with so much Gnasher in the way, Tarak slides back a little as their giant Gnoll berserker gets.. gianter.

"Uh, yeah, well push into the room when ye ken." he says lamely.

I'll just pass my turn, I don't think I can do much with gnasher in the doorway and I don't want to waste my "good" stuff on these poor slaves

Urah looks as Gnasher tears through the helpless slaves.

"Oei you! Surrender!"

He tell their leader even though he knew the leader wouldn't understand as he mimes Gnasher ripping out his throat. Making pointed motions towards Gnasher and then linking his fingers to the orgekin and spreading his fingers apart to mimic a body exploding apart.

Nice. That works for me. Consider him doubly intimidated. Note that Gnasher already intimidated him so you are just driving the point home.

Lazrul leaps from his throne with a bellow and thunders across the intervening space at an all out run, using his slaves as cover. The sound of his approaching and noisy footsteps is enough to intimidate them into closing with Gnasher (who can take AoO on any except brown).

Seeing the Ogrekin getting up from his 'throne' Gnasher smiles expecting the creature to come at him. But when the thing stops and sends in the rest of the humans, Gnasher growls "Coward!" Slashing at the nearing Black human, then attacking the others with tooth and claw. His claws bloody with the remains of the humans, Gnasher looks at the 'king' "You're next!"

Through the magic of Retconing, Gnasher is large, and will only get one AOO on black? AC 19, Hp @ 76 -8 (5+3) + 2 FH two rounds rage 2/16 AOO, Full Attack: bite, claw, + 1 amulet Power attack

The orgekin is just slow. Even at a flat out run that is the furthest he could get. Gnasher could get up to 3 AoO with combat reflexes. Brown is the only one that stepped and he is shielding the Ogrekin from an AoO so Lazrul is not an eligible target for an AoO either. The others all moved.


Gnasher punishes the advancing humans and wipes them all out one by one.

Unfortunately, Malgrim is unable to land a hit on the advancing orgrekin in large part due to the intervening bulk of a freantically swinging gnoll. He does manage to connect, but Lazrul is much better armored than the slaves and it only causes his body to twist for a moment.

with a barreling large hostile killer coming straight at them, Urah is first to go "Eeep!" as he struggles to conjure forth a spell.

With so many targets to get passed, he palms a tiny blob of acid at the rushing leader!
HIs shaky aim though fails to hit anything....

Without much else he can really do with Gnasher blocking the whole doorway, Tarak tries to thread a small lightning arc through the melee and at one of the slaves.

Sorry, Tarak, that greedy gnoll friend of yours chewed them all up and spit them up. But it so happens that the charging ogrekin is within range.

Even with the cover, and by virtue of the fact that Lazrul is running flat out, you manage to give the guy a nasty burn, so nasty you drop him where he stands. He is alive, though unconscious.

Out of initiative.

Seeing the humans and ogrekin fall, Gnasher releases the rage. Picking up his bardiche he turns to lop the head off of the ogrekin but finds Urah ministering to it's wounds. Blinking his eyes a couple of times, as if they might be lying to him, Gnasher asks, "Why firestarter want cowardly ogrekin king alive?"

Tarak wanders in and looks down on the ogrekin impassively, then around to the slaughtered slaves. ”Seems to be a waste of time. I say toss him overboar… I mean kill him and move on.”

With that he starts looking over the slaves and ogrekin and room for interesting valuables or items, casting detect magic.

The slaves are as poorly equipped as you might expect. Some of them can be saved if you move quick.

Checking on the injured slaves, Tarak starts attempting to save any that he can.

Seeing Tarak pull out a wand, Gnasher was reminded of his own wounds. Pulling out His wand he tapped it to his arm telling it "குணமாகும்"

He then begins to pull the armor off of the ogrekin, being none to gentle as Urah tries to tie the creature up.

While his wand does it's work and Tarak tends to the wounded, he starts dumping out the mismatched boxes and clay urns lining the northern wall.

Cast infernal healing, and taking 10(19) on the boxes and urns. Also, what kind/style of armor is it?

You will be able to use your heal skill to identify the ones that may be saved and heal 5 of them with the charges from your wand.

"Uuuoooh!," the first one groans as he feels the partially healed furrows through his chest.

He jumps up with a start and looks for an avenue of escape, but seeing another being healed and Lazrul currently being manhandled by Gnasher, he settles down. At a respectable distance from the two. A considerably respectable distance as in the furthest corner of the room.

As the second one rises, a woman this time, she has a similar reaction. Soon enough all 5 of them congregate, wisely choosing to leave their clubs behind. They look uncertain and lower their eyes whenever one of the PCs looks at a face.

"Information." the ifrit explains as he manages to tie up their foe after expending some effort to do so.

Once that's done, He prepares to wake their foe.

Not healing him, just waken him with Smelling salts.


Urah waits until Gnasher is done removing items from his limp body before he can add items.

Everyone OK with Urah questioning the guy, or would you prefer to feed him to the worms?

Did the ogrekin have any weapons?

Hearing Urah's answer of 'information' Gnasher nods and continues dumping out the boxes and urns. "If Firestart want to talk, then Firestarter talk." Information was well and good, Gnasher knew the carrion king was here somewhere and Gnasher knew they were going to kill him. That was all the information Gnasher needed. But if Urah wanted to speak to the ogrekin, Gnasher wouldn't stop him. Of course if Gnasher wanted to kill the ogrekin once the questions were done, Urah wouldn't stop him either.

Pointing at the armor, he asks, "Is armor good? Tribe want? If not maybe give to slave girl. She will learn to fight."

Or she'll cast spell on us in our sleep and make us all her slaves.

After tending to the slaves he could save with his typical complete lack of bedside manner, the pirate looks over the armor.

Urah nods and waits till everyone is done before he retrieves his smelling salts and uses it on the orgrekin.

"I got questions you'll answer."

"Where and who is else dis with the Carrion King? Anyone else inside this place that is aligned with the Carrion King? Are there any other slaves around? How many gnolls in total with you lot? Anyone who is not a gnoll but allied with you?"

A really big honkin' gnarly club more suitable for firewood that swinging unless you are built like an ogre.

Urah attempts to wake the orgrekin but it lies there. Stabilized but unconscious. He will need to recover before you can question him unless you plan on healing him. On the bright side, he is well trussed. Knowing Urah, he looks more like a mummy now.

Tarak looks up from the armor distractedly as the slave speaks, ”Yar, we be heading back once we kill this Carrion King. Mean times we have a place where ye might be mostly safe.”


Retcon on smelling salts...

Lazrul awakens and peers through the slit in the ropes. His voice is a bit muffled du to the ropes around his mouth and throat, but he is definitely cursing you. From what you can see from his eyes, though, he looks worried.

After you loosened the rope around his neck and give him a little breathing space, he gushes.

"Hey buddy, we are all just slaves here. Me and my friends don't have much call to be hobnobbin with the king and he sure as heck don' tell us nuthin."

The talkative one snorts and chimes in with his take.

"Lazrul here doesn't have a problem with slavery as long as he is on the other side. As soon as we escaped he decided he would be our new master and beat anyone who disagreed with his club. I say we leave him for the gnolls. Or better yet we should feed him to the scorpion upstairs."

"If you are looking for the Carrion King, you can sometimes find him in the lower level of the big dome."

Oh yea. Mr. Whine is going to take you up on that offer. He heads over to one of the dropped clubs and picks it up. Lazrul starts struggling and passes out again. Unless stopped, Mr. Whine is going to bludgeon Lazrul to death.

Regarding censer (not a container)...

DC 15 appraise:
Though the censer does not have anything valuable in it, it is a nice specimen itself. it looks really, really old and some folks like things that are really, really old. You guess it to be worth 500gp to the right collector.

Malgrim grimaces at the extrajudicial killing, but since he isn't sure what to do with the beastly man he turns his attention to the censer.

"This looks pretty valuable. With the right merchant or collector we could get about 500 gp. Maybe more if someone was smooth enough. It looks very old and that means rare." Malgrim says as he considers some of the trades he saw while working with caravans.

Tarak watches the slave take his revenge impassively, having seen much worse during mutinies, both successful and not.

"Valuable loot is good. Once we get this King killed we can get back and sell it."

Then, looking around, "Time to move on?"

Nodding in agreement with Tarak, Gnasher hands the odd piece of equipment to Malgrim. Not caring if the humans beat the ogrekin to death or not, he points at the mundane supplies that came out of the boxes. "Slaves, after you kill the 'king' pick up what supplies you can carry and go up newly dug tunnel. Other escaped slaves there."

Moving towards the double doors to the south he inspects them, then asks the others. "Tribe want to go this way?"
