Malgrim Gryh
Malgrim steps forward and gathers energy once more to blast the next gnoll.
5 ft step, gather power as a move and do an Empowered Blast. Attacking around Gnasher for cover at the neon green gnoll.

fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12Really!?
The poison seeping into his system, Gnasher snarls, "Stupid trap." Stepping back gingerly on the injured foot again he chops at the green gnoll in front of him.

con damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Though Gnasher's wound seals up nicely under the effects of his rage, he can feel that something is definitely wrong inside as he feels a wave of discomfort and a stabbing pain in his leg. In a fit of annoyance he swings and connects, removing yet another gnoll from the battlefield. Malgrim, on the other hand manages to bounce a water bolt off the stairs and give everyone a much needed shower.

Combat Over
You are presented with the usual goods from common gnoll warriors and a double door at the end
Any preparations before you advance? Anyone want to identify the poison on the caltrops under the stair?
Note: A character who attempts to identify an infused poison with a Perception check (as if it were a potion) has a 5% chance of poisoning herself, unless she has the poison use ability.
Urah Pyr
Identify poison with chance of getting poison? Urah says no.
Perception, search for loot 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Urah creeps out from his hiding spot and heads over to check on what the gnolls are geared with hoping for something good.
'Gnasher' Red Claw
miteke, I realize it's only one point, but Gnasher never raged, so he never healed.
Glaring at the pit with the poisoned sticks, Gnasher walks over and kicks one of the dead gnolls. "Stick had poison, Gnasher feels..." he shakes his head, unable to exactly describe the feeling of one losing constitution, "Gnasher feel OFF." He looks from Dino-Torak to Urah, "Tribe have any magic might help?"
Urah Pyr
Urah looks up and shakes his head.
"I have not yet gained any powers that can help with that."
Malgrim Gryh
"That is also beyond me." Malgrim looks at the Dino to see if it can help.
He will then begin moving forward and looking for traps as he goes.
If I can just take 10 for a 25 to locate traps I will. If not here is a roll.
Perception for Traps: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31
'Gnasher' Red Claw
Seeing Malgrim move ahead, Gnasher looks back towards dino-Torak. Then kicking one of the gnoll corpses again, he follows the hobgoblin bardiche at the ready.
Dino Tarak
Tarak just snorts and shakes his head at the question from Gnasher. Then, shaking some blood from his claws, he follows the group.

If I can just take 10 for a 25 to locate traps I will. If not here is a roll.
If there is no danger involved you can take 10, like if you were looking through a library for a book, but this would not qualify.
The group advances after a thorough look-see, though that turns up nothing other than more trapped stairs. Turns out that every other stair is trapped, easy enough to remember which was probably a plus when it came to the gnolls. You open the double doors and see another pair right ahead, stoutly barred from your side. To the left and right you see a narrow hallway that circles the inside of the dome, its walls crawling with beetles. Loos chunks of plaster and bits of rubble clutter the floor, and old smears of blood stain it brown. Several coils of thick rope and a few bloodstained grappling hooks lie in a heap before the door.
'Gnasher' Red Claw
Several coils of thick rope and a few bloodstained grappling hooks lie in a heap before the door.
S"everal coils of thick rope and grappling hooks": like 'Let's go climbing'? Or "Several coils of thick rope and grappling hooks": like 'Let's tie these people up and hang them from hooks while we cut them up'? I guess the difference is if the rope is in long lengths or short lengths.
Pausing to look at the ropes and hooks, Gnasher points towards the boarded doors. "Strange to have something locked in." He gestures back towards the ropes and hooks. "Did gnolls drag something in, to keep as guard dog?" He shakes his muzzle, and gestures towards the narrow hallway. Maybe tribe look around, try to determine what behind doors before open?"
Dino Tarak
Tarak snorts, and stalks around the room, looking with a keen eye.

Do you head clockwise or counter clockwise around the passage, or do you unbar the door and head inside?

Tarak snorts, and stalks around the room, looking with a keen eye.
Clockwise?
Seeing the Dino Tarak sniffing about, Gnasher points to the left "Chief, sniff left, see if hall circles room with barred door. Maybe has window or other door." He then begins to head that way with the dino-druid, and his other companions.
So did he mute slave girl follow us?
Urah Pyr
Urah waits to see if the others find any traps before he proceeds about unlocking the door if it was locked in the first place.

? so far we've found two sets of doors, both barred from our side
Rasing an eyebrow in a very human fashion, Gnasher looks at Urah, wondering if the Ifrit was unbarring the second set of doors they had found.
Malgrim Gryh
Malgrim trains his shield towards the door and stands a short distance from it waiting for Gnasher to open it.
Tarak Stromblessed
After circling the room and looking for traps, Tarak looks back at Gnasher and does his best dinosaur shrug, and walks to his usual place behind the big gnoll.
miteke
The group lines up behind Gnasher and he opens the door. The dome climbs up high overhead. Long ago, the inner ceiling collapsed, leaving its timbers and skeletal framework exposed beneath its brass-plated shingles. The ground below is cluttered with rubble, heaps of animal skeletons, and countless bloodstains. Waiting for you by the door is an enormous 22-foot-long scorpion waiting by the door which immediately lashes out at Gnasher.
This thing is really nasty and you guys need to level up to fight it. DC 18 Knowledge Nature to identify it.
'Gnasher' Red Claw
I'm not quite sure how Gnasher went from clearly avoiding opening the doors to being the first in line to do so, but I'm willing to go with it. But he'll fight at 5th lvl. that's where he was when he opened the door, not going to change it now. If he lives maybe I'll level him. If not, fighting a giant scorpion is a good death.
Seeing the giant scorpion, Gnasher steps over the threshold into the middle of the doorway, hopefully preventing the giant arachnid from passing him to his friends? As he lifts the bardiche high he begins to rage; his paws grow into overly large claws, his eyes glow red, his fangs enlarge and he begins to froth at the mouth. While his brown hide takes on a red-orange cast to it, giving a peculiar laugh. Raging to his full glory he chops at the scorpion.

Tarak shuffle steps a little to get a clear view then roars like crashing thunder, a bolt of lightning arcing from his fanged maw.
Looks like a 5' step should give me a clear shot at the thing while avoiding Gnasher, if this isn't possible please let me know and I'll do something, I don't want to blast Gnasher as well.

Fortunately for Gnasher the scorpion misses with both of its claws. An incredible feat since Gnasher is not even trying to avoid the shots. But just as things are looking good, the stinger plunges into one of Gnasher's legs and pumps more poison into him. You can see that it had a very good chance at hitting with the claws and typically does 2d8+16 with each hit, assuming the grab works which it usually will). Had it rolled well, Gnasher would have been down in one round.

Glitterdust Will DC 16
Urah summons forth some courage and shapes the forthcoming cowardice that pours out in abundance instead.
Shaping the arcane force into a sticky screen, he launches it at the scorpion after moving into the minimum distance he needed to throw it on without affecting Gnasher.
Tarak Stromblessed
arg, been experimenting with 2e and was briefly excited about that reflex save being a critical fail and double damage, before I remembered we are playing 1e :)

fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 - 3 str
Crap, was going to go natural weapons, but it's at least 10 ft to the scorpion so can't 5 ft step.
Feeling the poison course through his veins, Gnasher gives a low snarl. Seeing the golden glitter like substance blind the creature, he barks, "Well done Firestarter." Lifting the Bardiche he chops at the blind scorpion, then step out of the doorway towards the great blind beast.

hmmm doubt that hits unless being blind helps lower the AC

It does remove Dex from AC..so it helps?

Tarak roars in a slightly different timbre, and this time a glob of elemental ice flies from his fanged maw at the scorpion.

Malgrim continues to absorb water around his bloated form as he sends another empowered blast.
Blindness gives them a -2 AC, and the creature loses its dex to AC. It is awesome if it happens to the enemy. Sad if it happens to you. Gather Power, Empower. Fire away!
Water Blast w/Elemental Overflow , PBS : 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 + 2 = 27
Damage, B, Water Blast w/Elemental Overflow , PBS: 3d6 + 9 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5, 4, 1) + 9 + 4 + 1 = 24
27 should hit a blind scorpion. So 36 Bludgeoning damage.
miteke
It does help that it is blind, but frankly it's defenses come from it's hard shell and not any ability to avoid a blow and Gnasher's attack bounces harmlessly off the carapace. Touch attacks, on the other hand, are dirt simple and Tarak's snowball definitely makes an impact. And this time Malgrim's bolt of water finishes it of (total of 102 points of damage) and the scorpion goes down.
'Gnasher' Red Claw
Seeing the scorpion go down, Gnasher releases his rage. As he returns to normal size, he grabs his leg where the scorpion stung him, "Poison sapping Gnasher's strength."
Drawing out his wand, he casts infernal healing on himself. Limping about in his fatigued state, he looks beyond the giant arachnid, seeing what else is in the room.

Cool, is the str restoration permanent? Or a temporary mental thing. I'm not that familiar with Kineticist so I'm asking. Save the healing, he used the rechargeable wand for the 9 hp.
Nodding to Malgrim, "Gnasher feel better, thanks ghost." He gestures towards the pile of bones, turning to Urah, "Firestarter magical?"
Malgrim Gryh
I did not know that he was down Con too. How much Con are we talking about? I can do a second one to restore your Con if you want to take the Drain. It probably evens out on HPs but will help your Fort and other Con based things.
Urah Pyr
Urah steps up to examine for loot.
Detect magic and sweep the room!
Looking up he shakes his head to indicate no magical auras detected.

He kindly put it in his spoiler.
Yep, Urah finds the room pretty austere and boring unless you go for bone on bone décor.
Dino Tarak
Tarak stalks around the room, looking over the dead scorpion and rubble while the rest of the group sorts out their healing, eventually waiting by the door, watching for trouble.
almost out of 3rd level spells, but I’ve got some stuff left.
'Gnasher' Red Claw
Pausing for a moment, Gnasher looks at the scorpion, considering taking a trophy. Shaking his head, he realizes the kill is not truly his. Turning from the giant carcass, he begins moving back towards the hallway. "Well done tribe" Gesturing the general direction of the door. "Carrion king awaits."
Moving out into the hallway he heads to the southern double doors. "Before tribe go below, tribe should make sure no enemies behind." He stops at the double doors to the south, "Gnasher think this other entrance, need to find out." He looks at the door, then looks at Malgrim and Tarak expectantly, hoping they would also inspect the southern double doors.
