"That seems like a bad idea, given that this spirit apparently causes trouble, as well."
Cor'ellis |
Sharrah looks at everyone in the room before finally settling her eyes upon Elek.
Fair exchange. Oath for an Oath. Balance to be maintained. Pledge to carry this spirit with you and beyond, and we shall leave this vessel.
"What do be the meaning of this? You, the spirit do come onto one of us? Sharrah do be free but one of us must be bound by your... possession? Do we cease to be, then? Our body bending to your will and not our own?" Cor'ellis was simultaneously curious and horrified by the concept.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Trying again. Though I don't seem to be getting any feedback.

Your gut tells you that something is off...if this was a human you were strictly dealing with, you could easily figure out the how/what/why of the persons actions. Thinking about this, while at the surface it seems wrong to deal with someone in this fashion, deeper it could be benign.
Sharrah smiles. You may volunteer a new child, one just born, without thoughts and emotional experiences to volunteer in lieu of. Or One must be willing. And while Bataar would be an adequate Oath bearer, his thread isnt as long as some of yours. His emotions tend to delve into darker and darker areas that only lead to a shortened thread. You She points at cor'ellis, Your thread burns bright. Pure. Emotions amplified, yet tempered through experiences and time. You She points at Elek are slightly dimmed, emotions subdued. Yet you seem to be bound to something else. Something given yet hardly returned in kind. You She points at Korin Yours is slight, subtle. Aged over time. Experiences that run wide and deep as the Oceans beyond. There is much to you. You she points to Renlo Have a controlled passion. A surety of course. Finely balanced upon a razors edge. Lean to far one way or another, and it cuts deep, true.
All one must do is step through and swear an Oath for the girl. The girl is free to accept responsibility for her own actions, her emotions, her desires.
whichever of you take the Oath are free to leave, and are not confined to this location. To see the world, to experience emotions, new sensations, to love and to lose, to kill and protect, to seek Justice or Revenge. To Honor, or betray. We merely observe, and facilitate the Oath to those who ask for it.

'What are we?' Looking from Cor'ellis to the girl, Elek licks his lips. "Three questions. you say "we," what are you?." He then looks to Renlo, and back, "Would taking this 'oath' invalidate any oaths made before it?" Looking toward Korin and back. "Would the nightmares stop but leave the town still protected against the blight?"
Elek Kardforgató |
'Step through and find out?' Shaking his head, "I prefer to know the price of the toll before I get on the ferry."
He looks back towards the door where Marik and his cousin are outside still tending to the boys. 'I wonder what my cousin and her Aes Sedai would think of this doorway.' Looking toward Cor'ellis he gestures towards the doorframe. "We were headed into the blight to look for items of power. I wonder if my cousin will want to take this ter'angreal out of the building, pack it on a wagon and take it to Tar Valon. Maybe Marik or Bataar would accompany her." He shrugs, " Or we could just throw it on the wagon and take it with us."
He looks back to the girl, "I'm sure she would bring Sharrah with us. They may be able to figure out how to help the girl in the White Tower without unknown results from oaths."
Turning to the other swordsmen, "Or do we just walk away?"
