Ok, so we go on now. You keep doing whatever you are doing, mostly arguing and fighting it seems. See you later. Skarn shouted at the arguing guests, knowing they don't care about him. He then pointed at the door straight ahead and hoped it was open, as this would otherwise hurt his ruse.

Are we going to have to make our own map Old school style?

The group head through the door leaving the rising sounds of an escalating argument behind them. Entering this chamber you find yourselves in a small office featuring a large oak desk with Ulfen knots and carvings of warriors wearing horned helms. A matching chair sits behind the desk. The walls of the office include several hand-drawn maps of various fortifications, each with additional marks and large red “Xs” on them.

~~We need to go back when we're done here to finish off the survivor, and hide and loot the bodies.~~

There are no recall knowledge checks to really make in here. The office is clearly Ordulf's and it has been used to plan his campaign against a wide variety of different clans in the region. He has subjugated or destroyed many in his path to eventually conquering Hagreach. The group outside havent come to blows but there is no longer any chance for them to ally with Ordulf. Given a little time they are likely to leave.

The maps are certainly also valuable, as well as a way of disrupting Ordulfs plans (they are worth 600gp). Checking out the desk you find not much of note save an expensive looking bottle of spiced akvavit (worth 200gp).

That is pretty much it for this room. Where to next?

We are definitely taking the maps and the akvavit. We'll need something for the celebratory toast. Or to clean out our wounds.

Does it sound like the ambassadors have finished fighting? If so we should head back to clean up.

Checking outside you find that the ambassadors have taken their argument outside. The southern doors are open and the outer doors are smashed open. There is no sign of where the ambassadors have gone. As you are looking outside you are surprised by the approach of a guard patrol.

You face the Unexpected Patrol complication. Each of you needs to give me a Deception check to distract the guards or a Stealth check to Hide. You can of course fight them (and you should fight some as it will give you infiltration points) but bear in mind there are two guard posts outside at either end of the battlement so a fight here could draw their attention.

"Keep on your rounds, men. Keep it snappy. Eyes front. Move it." Tomas says to the patrol as he marches past, like a sergeant giving orders.

The group manages to duck out of sight in good time. The patrol close the inner door, the sergeant grumbling, Those big brutes made a mess of things in here, Ordulf is not going to be happy. Were going to need someone to repair that outer door as well as they pass out of the room at which point you spring your ambush.

The room they have entered does appear to be a kitchen. There is a door to the south and a set of stairs going down. The patrol appears to have been going for their break and headed in to make coffee and sandwiches. As such they are not currently wielding weapons, but that will change.

PF2E doesnt do surprise rounds but if your stealth initiative roll beats their perception DC then they are unaware of you initially and, if they beat you in initiative unlikely to do anything.

I have moved you to a point where you can see into the room but feel free to rearrange yourselves outside a bit but no further than the entrance to the kitchen. Remember that the consecrate effect is imposing -1 on most of your d20 rolls. It applies to skills, saves, attack rolls and perception.

"Look! Over there! The bug behind us is going to cast fireball on you!"

Create a Diversion vs the Perception DCs of each foe: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (16) + 27 = 43

I'm gonna assume that Sarge's attention is diverted. Also, I have Lengthy Diversion, so this might last as long as Jax is around and casting on them.

Attempt to Trip Sarge (Athletics vs Sarge Reflex DC) Includes +2 from the whip: 1d20 + 22 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 22 + 2 = 28

Hero Point Attempt to Trip Sarge (Athletics vs Sarge Reflex DC) Includes +2 from the whip: 1d20 + 22 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 22 + 2 = 42

Jax does a quite laugh over to Tomas when Sarge looks away. I like it. Yeah, that's right. Jax says. I actually thought this was pretty funny, and I liked it. Given fireball fills a 20 foot radius, there is no way I can get just him without getting the party. The fact that Sarge fell for that one. Now if this was D&D 5e, an evocation wizard can cast around the whole party and only enemies take damage. Sculpt Spells

Jax takes aim at the Guard. As he is about to strike the man slashes at him.

Ranged attacks trigger reactive strike

He lands a solid blow but Jax manages to get off his attacks.

47 damage

Tomas distracts the attention of the guards.

That is a critical success against the guards but not the officer, lengthy diversion helps you remain hidden for longer but not when you do something which breaks stealth

He then knocks down their officer but the guard is ready for his tricks and is prepared to knock him down!

That is a critical fail on the trip against the guard. Do you want to be knocked prone or drop your whip?

Jax will. Need confirmation on something before I take my turn, it is a minor thing, but just being sure. I'm confused. My flat check was rolled. I thought Persistent damage was rolled at the end of a persons turn. Not at the end of the round. Don't roll that flat check then?
