Vrosi can certainly use some healing.
Markus
The frogger tries to face forward, clearly disoriented, but it can’t keep itself standing and drops to its knees.
Vrosi
Seeing the enemy on the floor, Vrosi swings at it again and again, his anger growing with each strike. Rage boiling in him, he swings for a third time. The frogger tries to defend itself with its club, but the mikazuki breaks the club as it passes, before breaking the skull of the frogger.
Mosquito
The remaining frogger is too focussed on its fallen companion to pay attention to Mosquito’s glare. Likewise, it is too focussed to pay attention to Mosquito’s rapier, and Mosquito drives his rapier through the frogger’s back. Once the cleric pulls out his rapier, the frogger drops dead on the ground.
Kiilo |
Knowing the anger Vrosi feels, Kiilo also knows it could get him killed. He begins to sing. The tones are low at first and begin to lift; at the same time, Vrosi's wounds begin to close.
Kiilo casts Hymn of Healing; Vrosi gains Fast Healing 2 and 2 temp hp
Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Vrosi’s injuries heal as the party stands besides the fallen bodies of the froggers. For a moment there is only Kiilo’s song, but then, a banging noise coming from the adjoining room B7 breaks the moment. There is something heavy hitting it over and over again, threatening to bring it down.
Markus Swick |
Markus breathes heavily. Cranky runs up scared to his master and Markus cradles him in his arms, whispering soothing words in the fox's ear. Afterwards, he asks "Anyone hurt? I can take a look at those wounds."
Whoever wants to, feel free to roll my Medicine +6 skill to heal yourself.
Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Vrosi, Kiilo and Mosquito are all injured but is there enough time to treat their wounds?
After a couple more banging noises there is a loud crash just behind the door to the room. Then, the banging gets louder, you can see the door the one connecting to B7 rattling and bending with each hit. The rusty hinges creak in protest.
Kiilo |
Markus positions himself in a safe spot, waiting for whoever gets in. He says "Maybe get the bear meat ready?"
"Actually ... let's have it more than ready. May I? If the meat is floating in front of the beast, it may be even more distracting."
Casts Telekinetic Hand
Markus Swick |
Markus nods at Kiilo and says "Not only distract it, but I'm hoping it will calm down and maybe see us as friends. We should have asked about it more to know if there are any games it likes to play, or... anything that might make us seem more friendly."
Mosquito. |
Mosquito runs to the bulging door, casts Bullhorn , before shouting
Ifs dat bees da bears wees bees friends ov youses goblins! Don't bees eats us!
The goblin turns to the group with a thumbs up....
Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Much to Mosquito's dismay, the bashing continues. And a few bashes later, the door comes crashing down, knocking the magically held piece of meat in the process.
There is no bear where the door stood, instead, there is another frogger holding a club, followed by two humanoid creatures with mandril like faces and features. The frogger opens its mouth to let its tongue swing openly from it, while the mandrils hop from one leg to the other holding random pieces of rocks and other debris in their hands. Whomever this newcomers are, they are ready for a fight.

My bad, I forgot to place my tokens. We are still on the same map as where you fought the froggers.
Unintimidated by his enemies, Vrosi steps forward to block their way and swing his mikazuki against the new frogger. It hits the creature on the head. The frogger snaps its mouth from the pain of the impact and bites its own tongue in the process.
Kiilo, you can take your turn before the enemies, who should be up now.

Kiilo
The bolts phase through the frogger, reappearing inside the creature, who twists and growls in agony as they burn it from the inside.

Frogger
The frogger’s eyes go blank, it forces itself to stop moving, stairs into the room and lets out an insidious croak that reverberates in the room.

Vrosi’s will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
There is something about the sudden silence, followed by the stare and the prolonged croak that gives you pause. Could this creature possible set aside its pain through force of will alone? You are all Frightened 1
Then, the frogger raises its club, turns to face Kiilo and attempts to grab him with its tongue, before swinging its weapon at him.
The froggers tongue wraps around Kiilo, holding his arms against his chest. Kiilo is Restrained, but he can move to within 10 ft of the frogger.
bludgeoning damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 x2 for the crit.
Unable to defend himself, the frogger's club crashes directly onto Kiilo, with all of the weight of the weapon behind it. Kiilo would go down with 16 damage if my notes are correct, is that right?
The frogger is seriously wounded.
AB: Terrifying Croak*, Strike*x2
Mandril (purple)
The mandril tosses at Vrosi a piece of furniture he has in his hand.
bludgeoning damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
The mandril is right on target, as the piece of wood hits Vrosi on the side of the head.
He then scrabbles to pick up another piece of broken furniture before getting closer to the entrance to get a better angle at the orc.
AB: Strike*, Interact*, Stride*
Mandril (red)
Similarly, the other mandril tosses a piece of furniture at Kiilo, the two pieces of debris arcing across each others path.
Fortunately, the mandril hadn't calculated the whiplash from the frogger's hit on Kiilo, and the piece of furniture flies way over where kiilo now is.
His hands emptied, the mandril scavenges for some pieces of stone that have broken off of the walls. With the stone in his hands, he moves closer to his target.
AB: Strike*, Interact*, Stride*
You can all take your turns.

One of the froggers on the previous encounter did hit you for 10.
Vrosi
Dizzy from the hit, you miss with your swing, but the anger of missing makes you focus, and your backswing catches the frogger on the ribs.
Markus
bludgeoning damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Suddenly, the frogger is sent flying away. It is shut backwards, against the wall, and it collapses to the ground. The frogger is now Prone The two mandrils just backwards in fear when seeing the sudden manifestation of magic.
Mosquito
Mosquito, I moved you further into the other room to follow the frogger.
Mosquito bravely follows, not wasting the opportunity to finish off the frogger. He thrusts his rapier and pins the frogger to the ground until it ceases to move.
Kiilo

Kiilo is Unconscious and Wounded 1 but no longer dying.
Mandrils
The mandrils drop their weapons and prostrate themselves. They speak in a foreign tongue unknown to any of you. I think, I'm not sure on Kiilo's and Vrosi's languages. Their voices are fast and erratic, but weak and wimpy.
Markus Swick |
I assume we're out of combat?
As Vrosi intimidate the mandrils, Markus feels proud of himself for his magic prowess, although he never wished to focus on violence with his magic. Nevertheless, he moves over to Kiilo and quickly checks his wounds.
This is assuming we have 10 minutes to spare. Maybe this happens as Vrosi talks about mandril culture with our new intimidated friends.

Mosquito taps the Wizard on the shoulder.
Mees gots dis.
Walking over to the prostrated monkey dudes, the goblin places both hands on his hips. He then uncomfortably removed his hand still holding his rapier, sheaths said rapier and proudly replaces his hand on his hip.

We are out of combat.
Kiilo’s wounds are bad, but they are not deadly, with some care and unguents you manage to treat Kiilo as best as you can.
Vrosi
They avert their gaze and continue talking in their foreign language, pushing their weapons away from them.
Kiilo
Kiilo wakes up with Markus’ treatment and starts humming quietly to help the healing act faster.
Mosquito
The mandrils look confused at one another for a moment and then prostrate themselves to Mosquito in a submissive gesture. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to understand a word of what Mosquito is saying.

Thankfully, the tones of Kiilo's hymn were easy to maintain; and he added a silent prayer of gratitude to the The Lucky Drunk that not all audacity needed to come with drink. Sometimes, it was there no matter what. So many could learn from that lesson ...
As he began to feel better though, Kiilo tried to think what language the monkeymen might speak.
Let me know what I can roll? Thanks
Markus Swick |
Markus is thankful for his years of service when he learned to take care of wounds. As Kiilo wakes and starts humming, he pats the strix on the shoulder and moves over to where the communication is taking place. Or at least where the attempts are being made.
He tries to pass some simple peace-like sign language and establish a base of communication.
Going with Society: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Since the Linguist archetype is based around the Society skill, I imagine that this skill is the most adequate for basic communication/
Dahak GM Delta Arena |

Identifying the language would also be a society check.
Markus
You are unsure about how much they understand you, but they nod and their speech becomes less frantic. They look at each other, and then back at you. They grin and shake their heads. Judging by their body language, you figure this is a non-threatening gesture in spite of how intimidating their bared teeth look.
Mosquito. |
Grinning wide, the satisfied goblin turns his attention to his surroundings.
Mees no sees da bears. Where ta next?
The goblin then sees another door...
Markus Swick |
Markus also makes a peaceful gesture at the mandrils and offers some food of his as a sign of friendship. As they take the food, he tries to imitate a bear and motion to them asking if they've seen one.

The mandrills thank the food and eat from it withour hesitation. But then, they open their eyes wide in fear with Markus' imitation of a bear. They point to the room besides them B8 in response, which is barricaded from this side with the broken furniture of the room.

Markus thanks the mandrils. He wonders what they would do if the group just lets them go.
I suspect this isn't something you can ask and answer with gestures and grunts. Is there anything I can roll to kind of know this?
Regarding the bear door, Markus says "We should probably just feed the bear. It must be starving. If possible, I think we should avoid fighting it to preserve its life, given it's the goblins' friend. Also, because it's a bear, so it's a good idea to preserve its life. Maybe it likes frogger meat? We could add it to the food we brought", and points to the frogger they just fought and defeated. He adds "If there's anything left from the birds, we should add that too."
He starts to think of how they could open the door from afar so the bear has a feast available when the door opens instead of the group.

One on one wrestling match?
Markus
You could do a perception check to Sense Motive
Tying ropes to key parts of the barricade to pull would bring it down from a distance, the ruckus caused by the collapse might alert the bear who could bring the door itself down on his own.
Mosquito
It seems like Markus can take care of taking down the barricade, how are you thinking of luring enemies to this room?
Kiilo and Markus
Yes, they did fail to befriend the bear, but yes, they do care for the bear as if they had succeeded, that’s why they kept feeding it.
Markus Swick |
Markus carefully explains his plan to bring down the barricade, and have the bear do the rest. His explanation is perhaps a bit boring. As he notices the others are a bit inattentive, he just says "Look, I know where we can tie some ropes and remove some of the debris to have the bear do the rest of the job."
Looking at Mosquito, he says "It's going to be a problem to bring everything else come here. I am sure they have some territory system where they don't step into other frogger territory, or something. If you have a good idea, though, it'd be great to hear it."
Regarding Kiilo's commentary, he says "Well, if we can befriend the bear in their stead, I'm sure they'd be thankful. But I don't really have, how do you say it... animal magnetism? So I wouldn't know how to do that."
