Hi all!
I'm keen for us all to try to post regularly (aim for once or more per weekday and, at least once on weekends). Whilst adventures can be caught in 'conversation loops' back and forth, I will endeavour to keep things kicking along and get the gist of where a conversation is going and keep us pointed in the right direction.
Work, study, piracy on the Spanish main, and wild parties in Mexico have a way of getting in the way sometimes and if that is likely please leave a post in advance if you know that you are likely to have limited time/ability to post for a period of time (and when we can expect you back). I fully anticipate that we will probably have a bit of a go-slow over Xmas and New Years (at which point I will be posting from 2020 whilst you are all still in the wayback of 2019).
On that note, I am posting from Sydney, Australia. Most of you will be posting when I am asleep so when I get up around 0500 odd I usually do the catch up over a coffee, and then usually in the afternoon/evening each day.
I will generally roll Initiative (and any other rolls if really required), but not to shaft anyone or railroad them, more in the interest of giving you some sort of outcome to then respond to - I aim to complete a single round of combat within 24 hours.
When in combat, unless a PC has left botting instructions or made arrangement for another player to bot them, I will place any PC that has not posted within the past 24 hours (48 hours on a weekend) on delay.
If a single skill check has been called for, I will accept the PC with the highest skill bonus as the "primary" and all other attempts by PCs for the same check as aiding another.

Also: wanted to say thank you so much for running this! My operative has been stuck at lvl six for over a year! I really appreciate it!
Very welcome! I have been super busy with work for ages (we have massive bushfires and I have been working supporting the firefighting efforts) and haven't had the time to GM, but now I have been given some time off and keen to get a few sessions going - I was really surprised and delighted to see so many players keen to go!

Uafluozhaheed |
Huh, ya learn something new...
Shifty |
I think Starfinder made some interesting choices though - normally the smoke is a bit manky but not the worst thing that could happen unless you are in a confined space, but the opacity is a problem.
In starfinder it is just concealment, no matter how deep the smoke is. Firing 100' through smoke is still only concealment, not total concealment, go figure.

Hey all!
As you may know, a large chunk of Australia is burning.
I have just been called and informed to stand by for a call back from my break to redeploy to assist firefighting efforts. If this kicks off I may be out of comms for about 24 hours or so with little to no notice.
So just warning now in case I go silent.
Fuunk |
Understood. It's crazy how big the fires have gotten!
If you get deployed, please stay safe!

Yes! Real life always comes first. Stay safe.
And remember to bring sonic weapons. You may think throwing water on fire elementals would put them out (or that they would be vulnerable to cold), but no such luck, you need straight damage.

Just checking in.
The initial fire response is transitioning into disaster recovery, which is great. I am getting a break 28 Jan - 06 Feb, and jumping on a cruise ship for some R&R before going back to the Operation and into the clean up piece. Fires are still burning, but mostly away from settled areas.
As you'll notice, I have managed to keep in comms every day, so things are progressing pretty well.
What we're doing - and where the damage is - pretty much 195 miles of wrecked coastal towns. Some are just fire-affected, some are just gone.
Shifty |
One more day of work then I'm hopping on a cruise ship for 9 nights in the South Pacific. It's going to be a well-needed break, but also its my opportunity to have a look at the ship's facilities as I am hosting PaizoCon South-Pacific 2020 onboard the same ship at the end of the year.
Looking forward to my favourite boulangerie in Noumea, their croissants are the best you can get :)

Just curious if you are reading
Ucanny mobility
When you make a trick attack, if you choose the target of your attack before you move, your movement doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity from that target. When you use your standard action to move, you can choose one creature; you don’t provoke attacks of opportunity from that creature for this movement.
As meaning you have to pick the right image if you planning to make a trick attack

Hey, Shifty, no offense meant to you, and I'm certainly willing to finish the quest by playing through the fight at the end. Duke is just a surly character and I'm role-playing him that way. I'm 100% willing to fight the death bots (I think they still need to be tested.) I myself am not bad at you nor the scenario. Duke's backstory just makes it so that he doesn't like putting people at risk unnecessarily.
Shifty |
None taken :p
As I put n the OOC, it's the writing that gets vague - there is no guidance on direction once the party finds the malfunctions. Insisting the party play through would be like having the rogue spot a trap and then insist the party simply walk through it.
I think it answers the mail if the party identifies the faults and the ramifications, as opposed to the trial needing to go awry so they find the problems the hard way.
All good mate - you can tell I have the same frustration.
Gordon Bleu |
Hey we still came up with a creative solution They are still allowed right ;-)
Shifty |
@Gordon - yep I think it counts as a creative solution and makes sense. I just think the items were so fundamentally flawed and the flaws so easily discovered that the quest piece becomes less Star Wars and more Galaxy Quest if you were to continue.
Anyhow, thanks all for sticking that out - through fire and flood I was still posting at least 1-2 times daily and the thing took ages, then again we had xmas/new years slow us a tad.
I have a few days off before I go back to work and into running recovery teams up in our country areas to re-open roads (chainsaw gangs and earthmoving equipment), so I'll be wrapping off the tables still running, getting chronicles out, and then starting a few more games whilst I have time for the setup piece.
I'll be popping stuff into the Flax lodge in a day or two.

Many thanks all esp Shifty It does sounf like Interesting time round your neck of the woods recently. Hope things calm down for everyone soon

As my fellow players said, thanks for running the scenario through despite the challenges you've been experiencing. Very well run! Yah a long one but I figure all of the "quest" type scenarios are!
