Remember DEADLINE is 11/12/2019. I will have selections finalized no later than 11/16/2019.
I have decided on the third party member.
Grandlounge: Alistar Revin Male human (varisian) alchemist (grenadier) 1.
This was a pick that was rather easy to make. Although grenadiers basically could fill a Martial role, Alchemists (in my opinion) are flexible and looking over the submission, especially the spell list presented, I feel Alistar will fill this role nicely and give the party some additional adaptation it might need as the adventure progresses. Especially in the skills area which seems to be important in the first and second book. Grandlounge's submission was very solid as well.

Black Thom |

I had withdrawn, because my image of Black Thom had evolved away from "pure" Arcane... would love to re-enter the fray competing for the Flex (multi-class madness, interpretation mine) slot.
Is there a preference as to how that individual starts?
I find Arcane/Divine slots daunting in an AP because there is some unwritten/written expectation that they need to get to Level 20 Wizard/Cleric to optimally complete the AP. Or at least gain Level 9 spells (Level 17 Wizard/Cleric).

Knowing what Jack means by Flex slot . . ..
He doesn't particularly care.
The Flex slot is for a character that he just likes, but that got beat out in competition for another (or multiple other) slots. It isn't a mechanical spot. It is an "I want to see that character in play" spot.
I recommend you compete for that spot with a character that you like, that you have some passion about. A character you are passionate about is more likely to be recognized by others as one worth seeing in play.

That was a great book. I actually played a Wayfinder out of it for a long time and that book got a lot of mileage at our table at the time.

Pretty sure I'm talking about an age where dwarves could not be druids, and "kits" weren't even a twinkle in an unplanned new edition's eye.

Come now gents, ´gz´is now a staple of communication - I are modern!
Seems like the correct response is "I r Baboon."
I am a fat, older grey beard, though, and I refuse to accept bad texting abbreviations as an adult attempt to communicate. At least the Fox/Baboon thing was about highlighting an intellectual divide . . ..

Thanks both!
I'll assume the Magic Item Creation Feat table progresses to Complex and Intricate and doesn't end with Normal? Not that we qualify for much of that, at the moment.
I'm game either way, just a point of clarification.
EST hours, morning before 9am, quick lunch post and evenings after 6pm.
In several games, but only 2-3 will require attention in any given day. I have the capacity.
I've been playing for 36 years, D&D (Basic). Yes, I remember when race and class were interchangable? Elves were Fighter/Magic-Users, Dwarves were Tanks and Halflings were Thieves (not Rogues).
Hopefully, this is the sorry if thing you after looking for:
Background: Raised on a slaver breeding farm, where unscrupulous nobles play god and experiment with cross-breeding... creating specialized "live stock" to garner higher profits. Among the oddities, he was odd.
They ripped babies away from their mothers, to break down any boobs that might form, no family, no belonging. But, what that actually did was create a sisterhood of mothers that cared for any child, the maternal instinct was so deep. And the children cared for any parent or adult, the mismatched and motley albeit transient community became stronger.
The brands that were meant to mark them as mere property, instead provided unity.
His continued existence challenges the laws of probability and he identifies with the impossible. Not a flagrant disregard for the laws of nature, but the willingness to put in the mental and physical work to attain what others believe to be out of reach.
Description: Long and lean with narrow shoulders for a Half-Orc, Thom's silhouette passes for that of a tall athletic human. His animalistic features of uni-brow, tusk and jutting jaw are subdued, ferocity and intimidation giving way to a uncertain pensivity on his facial features.
Demeanor: Open and straight-forward, Thom tends to conduct himself with confidence and assurance. Helpful, gregarious and never haughty, he is ready to pitch in without an invitation. Each moment is a gift, so he is prone to action. He has a soft spot for children & education, mothers & opportunity... and a fan of the underdog.
Diplomacy: Life is all about balance and achieving balance sometimes requires leverage. Being keenly aware of other's drives and motives, allows Thom to diffuse most situations and navigate towards a positive outcome for the greater good or what's needs to be done currently towards the greater good.
Combat: The world is fraught with conflict, friction. It takes all forms and his personal view is to avoid it. Can't we all just get along and respect one another. Many a time, he's learned that others do not share this view. Unmollified, these individuals insist on physical confrontation.
Thom isn't physically powerful, so he plays to his other "strengths," feinting in combat and leveraging what he's learned about anatomy and precision. He's very collaborative in combat, as he is in other areas. He is an excellent flanking partner.
Stealth: Unseen is unmolested, simple enough. Stealth is a skill and a tool, to be used liberally as needed. He will not hide as others are being hurt, however. That goes against his sensibilities. Alone, he will hide as much as needed, waiting for the perfect opportunity to... strike.
Quirk(s): Word play. Speaking as if everything is positive in the most dire situation. Trying to diffuse a situation, even during combat.
Philosophy: The only constant is change. Environment is not an obstacle, merely a canvas. The impossible is just what you haven't imagined... yet.
There will be multi-classing and VMC shenanigans, think I'm starting with Brawler for survivability. Reworking crunch, now.

All,
First and foremost I want to thank every single person that took the time to submit a character. I really hate this part of the campaigns because you have to turn so many people away with well thought out submissions. I think I learn something new every time I do this due to how well done the submissions are. I don't personally like doing dual/multi tables as I like placing all my energy into the one story/one group.
I have decided on the last martial slot:
Blaydsong's : Keezheekoni; Human (Shoanti) ranger (flamewarden) 1 (Ultimate Wilderness 66)
It was a well thought out submission and I really liked the Shoanti background and character description that Blaydsong presented. Plus it was a well rounded submission that fills a martial slot and gives the party some additional skill sets.
If we have someone drop out I will reach out to those who submitted to see if there is still interest.
Final Party Makeup
Members of the Party
ToxicStar: Arrtur,Male half-orc fighter 1 Martial Slot 1
hustonj: Estel Cestdelo, Male Elf Unchained Rogue (Relic Raider) 1 Skill Slot
Grandlounge: Alistar Revin Male human (varisian) alchemist (grenadier) 1. Arcane Slot
Ellion Hesoni: Tiarsus Kelquinal, Male Half-Elf Cleric of Abadar 1 Divine Slot
ScorchedOne - Edril Male half-elf cleric (herald caller) of Findeladlara 1 DM Flex Slot
Blaydsong's : Keezheekoni; Human (Shoanti) ranger (flamewarden) 1 (Ultimate Wilderness 66)
Again, thank you everyone.
Jack

Keezheekoni |

Hey guys. One thing that I wanted to ask for your opinions on. When making Keezheekoni, I wasn't sure what would be a good choice for his first Favored Enemy choice, so I went with Humanoid (orc), due to his clan's aversion to them (Sorry Arrtur). If there is anything you think would be a better choice and why, I'm all ears. :)

Black Thom |

I don't know much about the AP, but... I find Humans a nasty lot. I'm being serious, not because this alias is a Half-Orc.
They make up a majority of the world's sentient populace and cause most of the trouble (or invite it).
That would be my suggestion, unless you are playing a monster themed AP of predominately: goblinoids, giants, undead, aberrations, chaotic outsiders, etc..

Keezheekoni |

That's fair, and I had considered that initially, as well. The main reason I didn't go with it was for a purely roleplay perspective. Despite his people's war-like tendencies, he was looking for a way to show his people a better way, and so was not focusing on ways to further harm others (humans in specific). That said, the orcs have made ware with the Sunclan for a long time, so that makes some sense, knowing how to dispatch such a threat.
I'm not against the idea, mind. I've just been going at it from a different standpoint. If others think this is a good idea, I'm game. I know how to spin a tale, when needed. ;)

![]() |

I won't say anything based on this ap as I am running it but it is a sequel to Rise of the Runelords where
The players handbook says,
"Ruthless Rivals: The Shattered Star Adventure Path
features a grab bag of classic monsters, so be ready for
anything! You’ll face many different creature types—
from vermin, humanoids, and fey at low levels to giants,
undead, constructs, aberrations, and evil outsiders at
higher levels."

ALLENDM |

All,
Due to RL issues, our Unchained Rogue (Relic Raider) had to step away from the game. I would like to look at recruiting a replacement and filling the spot so I am making an open call for an unchained rogue or investigator with similar skill sets. Obviously high perception and a diverse skill set are going to be important. Especially for this AP.
We have currently just started book 1 so this is a great time to get involved with this AP. To give you an idea of what I am looking for here is the link to the PC we lost.
Please see the Campaign Tab for additional resources including house rules you will need to read and follow for character creation.
I am looking for someone that is willing to post 1x day during the week and on the weekends when you can.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to post in the recruitment thread or message me.
I will be looking to fill this slot in the next week or so to keep the game moving along.
Jack

AllenDM, would you consider a re-submission of Mauro Ocelo (upthread, https://paizo.com/campaigns/v5748p75ivks9/recruiting&page=4#178 ) as a "skill" replacement?
He's a practical sneak/scout character (high perception and middling high stealth) with significant skills. His ability to fulfill skill requirements will jump as of 3ed level, when Soulbound Doll enables assorted familiar shennanigans ( Sage + Figment Archetype = pull any skill you want at a significant bonus...)
