Too late! You've set a precedent. All of Jonagher's crits are now thru the eye! :)

Can I get three recall knowledge checks (on the "monkeys", the "frogs" and the "Sharp Sun") before I post next, I forgot to put it in the ooc of my last post.

Two. Not more than two.

Let's award a Hero Point! Since the last one was awarded, you have fought imps, a bugbear, and the grauladon, as well as encountered the Bumblebrasher tribe.

Please send me a PM telling me who should get the hero point and why. Majority wins, and the GM casts the tie-breaking vote if necessary.

Not Jonagher he's dumb and nobody likes him.

There's about fifteen hours left to get in your vote for the hero point!

The hero point goes to Jonagher for his eye-targeting abilities!

Bullseye! Thanks, everyone! Maybe I can use this hero point to score another crit. :)

Do we know where the frogs/monkeys/dragons are native to? Maybe they all come from the same place.

You knew that grauladons are from the Mwangi Expanse, and Ren knew that charau-kas also come from Garund. Boggards are more widespread and could be native to swampy parts of Avistan or any of the other continents.

Quick question: Has anyone else been signed out on Microsoft Edge and unable to sign back in?

Because I have been trying for the past few days and it still has not resolved itself. Google Chrome seems to be fine though.

Something happened with the Paizo site, so they had to reset it. As a result, any cookies or other site-based data your browser was using also needs to be reset, but you have to manually do it on your end.

Male Human

Thanks. I think I did it.

Well, after multiple days, several calls and tons of emails, I finally have access back to my account. That sucked. I had the cookie problem and the paizo account had gotten blocked somehow on my browser. I will post today sometime. Sorry all.

So: open the door now, or go back for bear bait?

Irenaeus Crispin wrote:
Irenaeus takes a few steps back to put some distance -and Ragna- between himself and the door...

I meant to ask, Castor, did you mean for Ren to move behind Alak in line (he's already behind everyone but him), or was that just flavor text? I wasn't sure if you had someplace specific you wanted to move.

Male Human

Mostly flavor text about keeping his distance really. That and not being able to check the map when I wrote that.

Castor, electric arc is a two-action cantrip, which leaves you with one action. Did you want to use it to renew your shield?

Male Human

Yeah, definitely. Sorry about that. Thought it was a 2-Action... well, action. I think my brain is slightly mushy from the lack of social activity.

Ragna, I believe you get a new chance at the flat check for every action, not one for the whole round, so you could roll another flat check and attempt to Strike with your third action. Alternatively, you could spend it to Take Cover by pressing yourself against the wall and get an additional +2 to your AC.

Highness, it could be goblin luck, but there's a chance failing that save might not work out too badly for you. We'll see what happens. ;)

I'm going to have to rename Jonagher's bow to Eyetaker... :)

I'm just waiting for him to face a lilitu and realize she's immune to his crits. ;)

Now that I remembered to add the XP for the birds, you guys have reached level 2!

Yay! I think I'll use this level to get more healing, the front-liners are taking a beating every fight.

Question, has it been more than an hour since the grauladon fight?

=)

Are we keeping it CRB only or whatever Paizo has published thus far.

I think I’ll take the Barbarian Dedication. Gives rage = -1 AC, +2 Weapon Damage, +4 Temp HP. Lasts one minute/10 rounds and is usable as long as you aren’t fatigued or raged within the last minute.

I had planned on taking Jonagher into a Wizard Dedication to pick up some arcane spellcasting ability, but I might review my options one more time before committing to anything. Are we planning to level up now? Or, do we need to camp/rest or return to town first?

Shaserai Stonecutter wrote:

Let's see, you consulted with the Bumblebrashers about the situation, Jonagher retrieved arrows, you climbed down from the battlements and explored the corridors of the first level you hadn't cleared yet, Warbal took you to the secret door, you decided to go back and butcher the grauladon for lizard-steaks, you went back to the secret door, and you fought the birds.

That ought to be close enough to an hour.

Ragna Iona Eklund wrote:

If it's on Archives of Nethys, it's fair game.

I don't believe there's RAW on that, so I guess it's up to us to decide. Does anyone have a preference? My RL group used to get things like new hp and abilities immediately on level-up but wait until they rested to fill new spell slots.

I'm fine with that. I'll go with the Medic Dedication and Battle Medicine for expert in medicine and healing in battle.

Male Human

Hmm... Probably going with Cantrip Expansion for the Class Feat. You can never have enough spells after all.

For the Skill Feat, not really sure. Alchemical Crafting (though I could get this with the Alchemist Dedication at some point and I am interested in this particular Dedication feat), Arcane Sense (essentially an additional cantrip slot, as detect magic is pretty useful), Quick Identification (not really sold on this), Recognize Spell (I do have the Counterspell class feat after all) and Trick Magic Item (not so sure about this either) are what I am trying to decide between.

And then I have to check the spells to choose two from. One will probably be the telekinetic projectile cantrip. Now for the other...

I am open to any and all pointers.

Well, re-reading the monk class, I discovered that I have been missing some options...

I think that I will be going the stance route with Highness, I can't see him shooting fireballs like Ryu or doing ki ninja stuff.

Male Goblin King ; HP 31/32; FP 1/1; AC 19; Fort (e) +7, Ref (e) +9, Will (e) +8; Perception (T) +6

I am thinking Titan Wrestler as my feat (so I can do trip/grapple/disarm on 2 sizes larger) and Dancing Leaf, so I can jump higher and take no falling damage when adjacent to walls.

Thoughts? Anyone played any high level monks?

I think this is how I see it most often done. Ragna doesn't have any spells though so she has less skin in the game.

He does seem to spend a lot of time climbing and then falling. :)

This week is really kicking my butt, Sunday I had to suddenly cover a 14 hour shift at the lab after only 5 hours of sleep and I've not recovered till today XD

I've used lvl 2 stats for the healing rolls, but luckily the results are the same for the lvl 1 stats, so it doesn't really matter.

Male Human

This week has been pretty busy and it is still going strong it seems. I will try to update Ren first chance I get, but between work, little girl at home and wife pulling a couple of 24-hour shifts at her hospital, it may very well be a couple of days before I manage to get back on track.

I totally sympathize. I'm barely keeping up with everything here as well, and I don't have a character to level up. But I'm going to suggest that if we don't have our level 2 combat stats ready to go, we don't open that door until we do.

Post here in discussion when you have your character updated.

Sounds like the little girl isn't pulling her weight. Have her level up Ren.

Jonagher's combat stats are leveled up. The only thing I haven't selected is his class feat and I'm still leaning towards a Wizard Dedication archetype feat (but assume he won't access any spells until we've got a good in-story opportunity to weave it in).

Which cantrips do you plan on selecting? If they're ones Ren has in his spellbook, you can copy them from him as an Exploration activity; if you're wanting some he doesn't have, I can figure out someplace to work them in.

I think I'm most interested in ghost sound, mage hand, produce flame, and shield at this point. It feels like a good all-around repertoire that should aid Jonagher's adventuring career. Maybe one idea for how to work in the spellbook could be:

GM:

Spoiler:
...drawn from Jonagher's background (in his profile). There was a book he stole from his mother's shop...one which a wizard had hired her to translate, because it wasn't just in elven, but also in code. So, maybe, aside from the mundane information it contained about elven lore, it could also include these cantrips which Jonagher begins to study with Ren's assistance? And, of course, Ren might be able to expand his own spellbook with anything new to him?

Male Elf (seer elf) Cloistered Cleric 2; HP 22/22; FP 1/1; AC 15; Fort (T) +4, Ref (T) +5, Will (E) +10; Perception (T) +8

I think Shaserai is ready, I only had to add +1 to everything except medicine which is +3 and add to my sheet the battle medicine and medic dedication feats.

** spoiler omitted **

Actually that is something I had not considered. Ren is supposed to get two free spells at level up, but it does occur to me that they do kinda sorta need to come from somewhere, especially given how we are in the middle of exploring a ruined keep and all.

As for Ren giving Jon a hand and some pointers, I am certainly all for that.

On a related note, here are my choices for level 2:

Class Feat: Cantrip Expansion

Skill Feat: Recognize Spell

Spells: Cantrip - telekinetic projectile; 1st - grease

Shieldmaiden (2) | HP 32/32 | AC 17 | F: +08, R: +05, W: +07 | Perc: +07 | Battle Axe: +10 (1d8+4 S | Reaction: AoO| Speed 25ft | Active Conditions: *None * | Special Abilities: Hero Points: 0/3 | Rage ◆ : +2 Dam, +4 Temp HP, -1 AC

Ragna should be all updated. Took the Barbarian Dedication class feat and the Quick Repair skill feat so she can fix her shield.

Ragna, I may just be not seeing it on your sheet, but what type of dragon did you choose for your instinct? Also, did you choose another skill in place of becoming trained in Athletics since you already were?

Male Human

Ren should be updated. I did add the two spells I mentioned in his spellbook, though I am not entirely sure how he is supposed to get them at the moment. Furthermore, I am also not sure if I can update his memorized spells yet.
