Ðakaþos turns and sprints north to the other chamber. The corners of this cavern are filled with thick strands of spider webs. In the center of the western wall, a pouch of thick webbing trembles in occasional vibration. A thin stream of minerals drips slowly from the center of the ceiling, slicking the floor here and creating treacherous footing.

Ðakaþos' passage through vibrates the webs sending shudders up their length. The hair on Ðakaþos skin raises as he hears a soothing voice coming from the darkness of the ceiling above. "Tasty morsel." Climbing down from the web is a bizarre aberration. These strange creatures have oblong bodies coated in a viscous and transparent slime, three large black eyes, and eight thick, multi jointed limbs, four of which are inverted and point upward, allowing the monster to easily crawl on either the ceiling or floor of narrow caverns and squeeze through narrow spaces. Their jaws appear small and tubular when closed but peel apart and stretch to terrifying proportions when opened, as their dozens of pointed teeth part to reveal a freakishly long tongue. Occultism to ID

The shudder across the webs continues into the pouch of thick webbing. It pulses harder and harder as something looks to free itself. It begins with a small tear and quickly turns into a much larger one as thousands of tiny spiders force themselves out of the egg sac.

Kelvin rails his morningstar hard into Voz's leg again as payment for nearly killing him.

Looking left and right Voz grimaces at her dire situation. She glowers at Ðakaþos. "You fool of an elf. You woke it up." She draws a dagger. "Let me go and I will help you get out of this alive." She quickly changes tactics and imposes a temporary truce of sorts.

Raspar doubles back to watch the dwarf-spider fling going on. Friends always need witnesses for their low points. Sweeping his halberd low to the ground Raspar easily scatters the tiny spiders as they scurry back into the cracks and up the webs.

Ðakaþos does the same to the other swarm pouring in through the tunnels. Sweeping his sword across and slamming his shield straight down into the middle of the swarm kills off the majority of them.

Kelvin glares at Voz, attempting to intimidate the elven necromancer but she doesn't seem at all shaken by the snappy glance. "Fine!" She turns to Ðakaþos and waves her hand. "Gonna have to let me pass."

The ally can attempt to break free of effects grabbing, restraining, immobilizing, or paralyzing them. Raspar flings his starknife up into the thick webs. It twirls and twirls, slicing through them with ease as it jams itself right into the tixitog's face. An inaudible shriek emanates for a moment as she falls from the webbing at Raspar's feet, gurgling before she dies. The spider-like legs giving a few final twitches.

”You should have been nice. We could have been friends,” Raspar grimly reaches down to retrieve his starknife, trying to find a way to get a smile back on his face. He accomplishes that by spending time cleaning up the spider lair, not necessarily taking down all the webbing, but cutting any dangling or useless webbing, and making sure the bones and detritus is swept neatly into one spot. He will take 10 minutes to straighten things up. And by the time he finishes, he is whistling happily in his labors. +1 focus point.

When that is done, he will join the party to see what they have learnt about Voz and her magics/possessions.

In the spider infested room, Raspar sets to work cleaning it out a bit. Brushing away a bit of the webs he comes across a small, half-chewed humanoid corpse among the mix. In addition to Voz’s gear, she also carries a knapsack containing her journal and papers—which includes her correspondence with the Scarlet Triad. The correspondence doesn’t make it clear exactly what sort of organization the Scarlet Triad is, but the group promises to sponsor Voz’s plans to found an assassination guild and necromancy laboratory in the basement of Citadel Altaerein. Before they’ll initiate this patronage and proved her support, though, the Scarlet Triad correspondent tells Voz that she must first confirm the existence of Alseta’s Ring, find a way to secure it, and then activate as many of the portals as possible. Once she proves to this shadowy group that she’s done this, the Scarlet Triad has promised hefty compensation, more than enough for her to get started setting up her guild and laboratory under Hellknight Hill. Voz signs all of her letters “By Norgorber’s hand,” marking her as a dedicated follower of the Reaper of Reputation.

    DC 20 Society (Recall Knowledge):
You recall that the Scarlet Triad is a minor merchant’s guild based in Katapesh, far to the south.

Voz's journal is another story entirely as it is written in a strange language that none of you seem to understand. It looks jarring and evil in nature. Necril. It would definitely need to be translated.

Raspar smiles and looks hopefully at the starknife that he had tried and failed to identify. He had hopes for something, but dared not wish upon it too much (which seems wrong for Desnan, but Raspar is not perfect), and so leans in carefully to what Cuth has to say.

”Yes, the starknife is holy to the Desnans,” Raspar points to the not one, not two, not three, but four(!) starknives easily within reach at his belt. One of the starknives he points to again that Cuth notes. It’s charred and black, as if it had been in a fire as Cuth remembers. ”This is the first one that I bought with my own moneys. Took me a month to get the monies together because it’s important to tithe, you see?” Raspar smiles because Cuth cares enough to remember. ”Yes, it was the one in the fire when we first met. Even though it is burnt, it is my favorite one because I wished that it would survive the fire and it did. Desna wanted me to find it again. Even if it was burnt.”

However, Raspar then moves his attention to the starknife that Cuth is offering to him. His finger tingle with excitement, his halberd falling to the floor. He smiles and takes the knife into this tiny, but strong, hand. He looks down at it and then takes a few practice cuts, then tosses it at the wall...only to have it return to his hand!

”OH! IT’S BEAUTIFUL!” Raspar cries and then wraps his strong arms around Cuth for a thankfully too strong man hug. ”This is very good. It almost makes me wish we find others who are not-friends but that is a bad thought so I will wish never to use it!” He releases Cuth with a big smile on his face. ”There are days when wishes do come true...and this shows Desna in our lives.”

If anyone wants the Halberd +1, please have at it. Rasp is knife and shield for the next little bit.

This long twisting tunnel is relatively safe for its length, apart from being completely dark. As you travel along 6-1/2 miles you notice some small caverns in which the dead bodies of giant spiders, giant centipedes, and other minor cave threats lie sprawled about. Here and there lie the broken remains of skeletons as well.

You also pass less recent signs of goblin inhabitants who were chased off, leaving behind ruined stone huts and crumbling homes in which nothing of value or interest remains.

Although the tunnel opens wide into a sprawling cavern here, it seems even more claustrophobic, for viscous spiderwebs crisscross nearly every inch of the place. Along the northern wall, several human-sized lumps in the webs are thickly wrapped in silk webbing, while the entire floor is covered in sticky goop.

It takes a good 20 minutes to adjust the straps and teach the halfling how to get into and out of the armor without assistance. After it's been adjusted Dori nods in approval. "That will do. The mail shirt still nearly hits your knees but it doesn't look like it will slow you down any." He gives Rasp one more look over. "We can fix that length when we get back to town but this will do."
