Good news, bad news time.
Good news. We now know whether we're going on strike or not.
Bad news. We are, 100%, going to strike. 110% even. Maybe 120%.
The university asked for another bargaining session today and came to the table with literaly nothing. They asked to meet and had no offer for us. And then we got not one, but two emails sent to all university accounts which were thinly veiled attempts at painting us as the bad guys and intimidate the members into not striking. Which has just ticked people off. So, we're striking and striking hard.

Do your strike, Get whatcha need. Businesses need to be taught a lesson
Tarphrex the Magnificent
Yeah, take care of you and yours. We will certainly understand if your focus is elsewhere. Good luck.
Estella Vale
I'm sorry to hear that. Good luck and let's hope some pressure will make 'em reconsider. And make 'em apologize because what the hell
Sherman Blake
All right. Good luck, and I hope the employer will hear you out now and agree to better terms.
GM Sphen
I understand it takes time to decide what to do, but I don't want to shove you all into a situation. Just need a decision as to what your approach is.
Tarphrex the Magnificent
And it’s worse online when you don’t know if silence is acceptance or merely lack of availability to check. Appreciate your patience.

Sorry for the delay, it's been a hell of a few days. Not feeling up to writing coherently right now, please bear with me.

Woah folks. Please understand that my post was not a "hurry up and do something" - 'prod you with a stick' post. It was a "this is taking a while and I don't want my players to be mad at me for not moving the story along" sort of post.
You are all great. Lots of love. Please don't hate me.

You're fine, i am here lol. Unfortunately my teenybopper siblings brought the Rona into the house and im laid up sick as hell

I didn’t take it as such, Tarphrex told me he wants to do something. I’m not driving this car, he is.

KIDS THESE DAYS!
Get well soon.
Estella Vale
Yeah no worries, nothing's being done under gunpoint here haha.
Hope you all feel better soon, those not feeling great!

Is the map on the second slide? And we're arriving from left side of the map?

I don't hate you, don't worry! But you know those cartoons where the character is lying on the ground with X's for eyes? That's me right now. Ugh.
GM Sphen

Correct to all of the above.
___
@Elisani: I am glad you don't hate me. I'll try and get Bugs Bunny to come around and give you a big ole' smooch. That usually works in the cartoons.

Well, the strike is tentatively over. The union members are voting on a proposed contract over the next few days. So I'm back to work for now at least, and it seems likely the contract will pass.

Are you getting what you need?

Sorry to hear that, GM :(
As an aside, I'm deeply enjoying that one of our most attentive and well-planning players is forced to communicate these plans in funny koboldspeak most of the time. Tarphrex is the best

Tarphrex cannot say in Common how this warms his scaly little heart.
Seriously, that means a lot. If I'm ever pushing to far or too fast, please please please tell me and I will do my best to tone it down. This should be a story of all of our characters, not a story about Tarphrex and his friends.
I think we have some magic at this table, and I for one am very appreciative of it.

Delay on my end. Last minute travel for a funeral. Post again when I can, Monday at the latest.
Tarphrex the Magnificent
Sorry for your loss. Please take the time you or your loved ones need.
Estella Vale
My condolences. Please take all the time you need.
Elisani Dascalu
I'm sorry for your loss, Sphen. We'll be here whenever you feel up to gaming again, don't rush on our account.
GM Sphen
I'm back.
She throws up again later that night, so she and my wife stay at the hotel for the funeral. Also, it was a funeral. Full on Catholic mass, so a long funeral. I (and my youngest) rode with my dad, who then wanted to swing by and visit his parents and his wife's graves. Big sad.
The family meal afterward is mostly people asking me about my sister, what she's doing and why she didn't come. I have no answers. Afterward, most of us are staying at the same hotel. So more catching up there. My oldest is feeling much better, so there's swimming and dinner. They talk up this place called Leaning Tower Pizza as the best in town. It was decidedly mediocre. But we manage to have a good time. I haven't seen some of my cousins in over a decade. Some of the younger ones find out that I play Pokemon Go and demand to see my collection. I am king of the game, in their eyes. (I'm not really that could, I've just been playing for a while.) That day passes, we head home the next day.
Kids wake us up early by arguing with each other, yay. We take the highways around Colombus to avoid the idiots driving there in and hit the road. We stop to buy groceries near home and make it back in pretty good time. Things seem to be alright, until my oldest throws up again. And then again, then again. We skip church the next day, and I message my in person group that she has a stomach bug. They cancel on us, unsurprisingly, so there goes gaming for the week. Daughter, still vomiting.
I call into work the next day because she is just so unhappy. (She's still sick, but getting better now.) I spend Sunday and Monday catching up on house work and such, and my wife has to cancel her plans for today to stay home with the oldest while I'm at work.
Over-all, it was a real mixed bag of a weekend. As much as I don't want to be at work, it is nice to be back into the normal routine of things. Thanks to any of you who bothered to read my whine-paragraph.
Sherman Blake
Travelling and stomach bugs <3 Hope you don't catch it...
Estella Vale
That really sounds like it's been rather rough, hopefully things settle down again now that you're back. Hope your oldest gets well soon!
Tarphrex the Magnificent
Yeah, hope she’s on the mend. Glad you got time with family.

Hey folks, I haven't been feeling well for the past week. (Not COVID, don't worry.) Hopefully I will feel better in the next few days.
Ceven Valdemar
Hey Team Sandpoint ... everyone okay?
(EDIT: everyone who isn't Elisani)
We've been at the door to the barn for a REALLY long time.
RL issues notwithstanding, let me type that again: a really long time.
I've said about as many times as I think makes sense, Cev will speed his way to the back of the room and retrieve the living captive as soon as possible, but that will be AFTER someone triggers the spider, WHICH, GM was kind enough and meta-enough to let us know needs to happen.
Sooooooo, can it happen? Please?
Do we need a different plan?
Everyone knows where we are, right? Slide #4?
This isn't meant to be harsh, and I'm sorry if it seems that way, but 3 weeks is a long time to have a plan and make absolutely no move to execute it.
Ain the watcher
I'm sorry, irl issues did hit me. Grandad passed away and I've been dealing with that

A month and a half, give or take. Might be a record :)
We are clearly missing the frontline guy, who goes in first. But we are in initiative, whose turn is it?

It'll be fine, I'll post when i can. Assume i am paying attention even if i don't say anything. I would normally go in blasting, but fire plus spider webs usually doesn't go well

INITIATIVE!
Ain Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7Ceven Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 <— Readied action?
Elisani Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Estella Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Sherman Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 <— Sherman is up
Tarphrex Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

If hovering and waiting to move are readied actions, yes
Tarphrex the Magnificent
Declaring an action in response to an event is a readied action. It can interrupt another's action (such as casting a spell if an enemy comes into view).
Merely waiting to take your turn (holding an action) would allow you to wait until after someone else has gone, but you cannot control who or when that is - you merely pause and insert yourself back into initiative order later.
I guess you need to give our GM "I will do X when Y happens" if you are taking a readied action. If you just want to wait to see what the situation is before you go, then hold your action.
Hope that helps.

The choice (and execution) paralysis of an open ended plan and chance to ambush is real, lol. Good on you for attempting to move things along, Ceven, I appreciate that. If there's anything I can personally do to move things along, I'll gladly do so.
Ain, I'm sorry to hear about your loss, and I hope the aftermath has gone/is going smoothly. These are always difficult times, and thanks for keeping you out of the loop.
I can't really graciously segue into this after that, sorry about that, but I did move your token so he and Estella are in position, hoping to keep your intent intact. If I messed that up, I apologize.
Ceven Valdemar
Guys ... we can also CHANGE the plan.
Just an FYI.
We can CHANGE the plan.
The plan as it stands is that a fairly mobile fairly stealthy character will go get the dying person while the other characters keep the BBEG occupied. THAT CAN CHANGE.
Because the fairly mobile fairly stealthy character also happens to be a CON build who has TWO to THREE times as many hp as everyone else. So if it makes more sense to have the high hp guy go confront the spider, let's do it. Do we all remember Foe Throw? The unwashed ogre would remember if it were alive, but it isn't. The cat might also ...
Cev is: TELEKINETIC. He thinks everyone has noticed at this point, So while fire blasts might set the place off like a powder keg, Cev moving a single torch 10' at a time back to the spider's face might also provoke it AND destroy some of its advantage by eliminating some webbing.
Just spit balling here. I am really sorry not to have already volunteered to soak the damage on this, my bad. I think maybe I focused too much on saving the person we found out wasn't dead, and that's on me, sorry.

@Ceven: Hang in there, be patient. As several people have posted, we've had some real-life interruptions but we have almost everyone's attention again, it appears.
1. Elisani indicated she would take the lead and she's been buffed now.
2. Tarphrex intends to assist her - they can still do that, but Elisani's last report indicated the player was under the weather.
3. Ceven is the only one that could potentially move the wiggling cocoon to Sherman would could hopefully aid the individual within, it makes sense to stay with that plan.
4. Sherman's not a front-liner, can back up the party and possibly aid the victim.
5. Ain and Estella can come in as a second wave / make sure nothing from the house comes up behind us - I as a player have a bad feeling about the house, even more than the massive spider.
6. Shalelu can move up to the door and provide ranged support to both the characters in the barn or the two in the barnyard as the situation warrants.
The only question in my mind is whether we should bot Elisani.
EDIT: Elisani is really a melee combatant, so she's not going to provoke it with an attack. Ain has offered to enter with shield raised - maybe the two of them can move forward together.
Elisani Dascalu
I'm so sorry about the delay. Pretty sure I've told everyone else before, but for Ceven's benefit, I have a chronic illness that flares up from time to time. Nothing I can do other than wait it out. And during a flareup, I can't think well enough to write coherently.
Please bot me if this happens during or right before combat again!
