Long story short, trying to land on a besieged planet with a starship firing on you is a no-go (or at least thus saith the encounter), and with a ~2 hex speed lead you're not really gonna lose them, so I see no real reason to question it. If on the other hand you were flying back to Absalom station I'd probably just do some batch rolls to see if they can stop you from getting out of range but call it a success from there.

Awesome! I spent 8 years doing..... stuff as a civilian for the DoD, then went back to teach. (I teach at a STEM focused school.) I LOVE teaching. It's REALLY hard and a lot of work, and deeply rewarding.
