If you've not played with me before, do take some time to read up my profile to get an idea about me and expectations during the game. Though, I believe most of you have either played with me in some way or another!
Heads up, I will likely be on a little quiet next week as I'm making a long commute from Asia to the USA, but expect to be fully back on the ball before next weekend.

This is sort of a reference for everyone, but here are my bonuses from raging song:
+2 Strength/+4 Constitution
+2 Will saves, -1 AC
If a raging song affects allies, when the skald begins a raging song and at the start of each ally’s turn in which they can hear the raging song, the skald’s allies must decide whether to accept or refuse its effects. This is not an action. Unconscious allies automatically accept the song. If accepted, the raging song’s effects last for that ally’s turn or until the song ends, whichever comes first. While under the effects of inspired rage, allies other than the skald cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration. (Unlike the barbarian’s rage ability, those affected are not fatigued after the song ends.)
I can also give out teamwork feats as a part of my raging song, because of my archetype. We'll see how useful it is based on group composition, but I can give out Paired Opportunists and Outflank.
Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also has this feat, you receive a +4 circumstance bonus on attacks of opportunity against creatures that you both threaten. Enemies that provoke attacks of opportunity from your ally also provoke attacks of opportunity from you so long as you threaten them (even if the situation or an ability would normally deny you the attack of opportunity). This does not allow you to take more than one attack of opportunity against a creature for a given action.
Whenever you and an ally who also has this feat are flanking the same creature, your flanking bonus on attack rolls increases to +4. In addition, whenever you score a critical hit against the flanked creature, it provokes an attack of opportunity from your ally.

He is known as one of the most gnome-y gnomes around... master of stream of consciousness speaking... punctuation and white spaces optional.
The dragonfly wings are a chronicle boon, as is the fact that his mithral starknife is bouncy!
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
So, if you all know of another player looking to join this game, I may end up dropping out, as I accidentally signed up for more games than I expected.
I'd love to play with you all, but I also need to be cognizant of my limits :D
GM Batpony |
Sorry If I've been a little quiet during this time, I have been trying to manage my life with my permanent relocation to the United States. With that said, In an hour I'll be making my start to a very long commute to my relocation to the United States! I will likely have difficulty in posting but will try to get connected to the Airport Wifi during my long transits! I expect to be fully back to normal in 30 hours or so.
Morrighan Jennings |
Welcome and safe travels!
GM Batpony |
I've arrived! Total culture shock, more just different than bad. Will need some adjusting to this life.
Anyways, regarding Glastor, if you need to drop off, please don't hesitate! We will apply any subtier adjustments as appropriate. I'll get an introduction post soon, so feel free to start roleplaying it before the official start date. We will begin on time!
Petronicus Krupt III |
Sorry for the delay. I guess I hadn't notice that the OOC thread for this game had started.
player name: Branding Opportunity
Character name: Petronicus Krupt III
Class & levels: Fighter (lore warden) 4/ Investigator 1
PFS id: 2840-5
Faction: Dark Archives
Day job: Profession (demon hunter): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Other info I need to know? My character is a bit full of himself and tends to insult those around him without meaning to. I hope this does not offend you (meaning you the player). If it does, please let me know, and I will tune it down.
I tend to stay in the second rank of fighting, but am mainly a melee character. I am a polearm fighter who uses the trip maneuver a lot, but also have the bodyguard feat.
Looking forward to the game!
GM Batpony |
Malaysia! Which if I'm not mistaken is GMT +8.
To another point, Kuala Lumpur had a great gaming community. While the USA in general has really great coverage, where I am in West Texas is not great.. Hopefully I'll be able to build a Pathfinder Society community here, and am definitely trying to hit the cons around the area and even gencon!
Petronicus Krupt III |
Very cool. I've wanted to visit Kuala Lumpur for a while. Didn't know it had such a good gaming community. Good luck finding a new gaming community where you are. It can be tricky if you're not in a town of a reasonable size, especially in a part of the country where the towns are few and far between.
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
GM Batpony, you might you might want to use a URL shortener, such as goo.gl or bit.ly
That's what I have done in the past to help with long google links.
Morrighan Jennings |
So, here's my initial thoughts, based on their descriptions:
Payah Against the Wind: "Strength in Convictions" Intimidate? CMB check or something?
Kemchet Flame Stoker: Seems tough. Maybe Diplomacy? Maybe a discovery check would help here.
Togimal In Shadow: The mysterious one. Discovery check?
Lake at Dawn: Sounds like Diplomacy. He might also join us if the majority do...sounds like he wants to build consensus.
Memory Tender: Still pretty confident Knoweldge (history) would work here.
Rollicks in Waves: Already on our side.
Regardless of our skill checks, I think we should emphasize:
1) How sorry we are
2) No excuses
3) We'll listen to the Shoanti about how they would want the tomb restored
Am I missing anything? What does everyone think?
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
I agree with the assessment.
I am going to guess a maximized kn:history will help greatly with Memory Tender.
I think that Lake at Dawn would be a good one for me to go after with diplomacy. He seems like a like mind to Glastor...though a lot less gnomey.
----
GM -- do we yet know what skills are used for discovery?
Ingrge |
Ingrge was going to try to impress Togimal in Shadow with an archery display; he has a bow and an assortment of arrows (kinda like Ingrge) and he's a hunter/tracker (kinda like Ingrge)...plus since a couple of 'em questioned whether we were capable, thought it might be a good idea to show them as opposed to just talking (which Ingrge sucks at)...
Petronicus Krupt III |
With my Chelish background, I should DEFINITELY not be the one to address anyone, and my -1 to Diplomacy means that I most likely won't be convincing anyone of anything.
That said, I have a decent Sense Motive (+5) and Perception (+8) and have ranks in all the Knowledge Skills to which I can add my +1d6 for being an investigator.
My first inclination is to first present the artifacts that were removed to show our intentions and then contritely ask how we could assist in repair the damage the Society has caused ... just not with me doing the talking.
GM Batpony |
Sorry to leave that info out.. Discovery checks are kn local or sense motive.
Petronicus Krupt III |
Sorry to leave that info out.. Discovery checks are kn local or sense motive.
Do these have to be made for each of the councilmembers or for each of the influence checks?
GM Batpony |
Ah sorry for assuming!
You may attempt an discovery check for each individual separately to identify what skills could best sway them for influence check. Upon success those skills would be listed as options for the influence check. Sometimes you also know which is more difficult than the other.
You may attempt an influence check for each individual, typically a few successes are require to completed sway their vote. If you don't know the appropriate skill check, you can always attempt any skill you like.
Diplomacy is typically a safe bet, but not always. attempting a skill that is inappropriate may result in a failure. which sometimes may be harmful.
That's the typical gist of the social encounter in most scenarios. There are always a variation or two where failure could result in losing successes or failure without penalty...etc. But the concept of what you are trying to achieve typically remains as above.
GM Batpony |
I also want to add something unique to this social encounter, Discovery checks can be used in 3 ways, and you must state which you are attempting. You may.. Analyze (find out what skills best influence the person), weaknesses OR strengths (Learn about what could give you passive bonuses or negatives in influence checks respecitvely.)
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
That is perhaps the longest that Glastor has ever spoken without losing punctuation and gaps between words.
FYI - this is from the cleric that risked his life to save a bad Panda in a certain scenario in Tien Xia.
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
Ingrge, another acrobatics show against Payah will likely get him on our side, I should think.
Petronicus, perhaps another try at Memory Tender?
I can try to use sense motive to figure out what Torgimal in Shadow prefers, and then Morrighan, Gleam, and Pip/Zarzukat can follow up with what is missed?
Ingrge |
I was leaning that way (I think Payah is a woman by the way) but wasn't sure if I could use the same skill twice on the same person...we know Tomigal in Shadow is swayed by Survival...looking at Payah's influences, I suspect Tomigal might also be swayed by Profession (Hunter) and maybe a pertinent Knowledge check...but not sure which Knowledge check is appropriate to hunting...
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
Wow... very surprised a 23 STR checked failed at 6-7!!!
Not much better that you can do!
Oh, well...
GM Batpony |
OMG, I just rechecked. The earlier check was 24, the strength one is 22. I had it thinking it was the same DC as the earlier check in my mind.
GM Batpony |
I've gotten a bit busy with life, and have to prioritize my PBP games. next update will probably be 24 hours from now... If not 48 hours!
GM Batpony |
I believe boon rolls are due! I will roll for everyone starting with GM and then alphabetical order. I will roll once this post locks.
GM Batpony |
GM: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Glastor: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Gleam: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Ingrge: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Morrighan: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Petronicus: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Zarkuzet: 1d20 ⇒ 15
I believe Petronicus is a winner! But i'll need to double check as the instructions for boons are a little bit behind right now due to reporting challenges on organizing end.
GM Batpony |
As usual, let me know if there is a correction needed. I'll be keeping this thread open until the game is reported, so that I don't forget to report it once the organizers fix the reporting issue.
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
all looks good.
Thank you, Batpony, and everyone else!
Phylactory of Positive Channeling is now mine!! :D
