HISTORY
Petronicus Krupt is the third son of a minor Chelish noble family headquartered in the port city of Kintargo. Bred with slaves at his beck and call, Petronicus quickly learned that anything and anyone could be bought, given the right price. When he realized that because of his birth he would never inherit his family's meager fortunes, Petronicus left Cheliax in disgust.

He headed for the only city a real Chelaxian would: Korvosa. There he set up a small business as a private investigator, specializing in hunting demons, a skill he had learned from his uncle, a noted demonologist. This business did not fare particularly well, and Petronicus was forced to swallow his pride (a memory he has already pushed into the furthest reaches of his mind) and declare bankuptcy and flee Korvosa to avoid being thrown in debtor's jail.

Now wholly without funds, Petronicus was forced to relocate to the only city that would still have him in the area: Magnimar, this time without any money. He was forced to offer his services to the Aspis Consortium, but soon discovered that they wouldn't take him. In his absence from Cheliax, his father had gotten into a bureaucratic squabble concerning maritime trade rights with the Consortium, and they had banned the entire family from ever associating with them again.

Now completely humiliated, Petronicus offered his services to the only other option in the City of Monuments: the Pathfinder Society.

PERSONALITY
Petronicus Krupt was raised to look town his patrician nose at other people, and several humbling episodes over the last few years have been able to cure him of this character flaw. He believes himself to be highly intelligent, but is actually quite average and simply the beneficiary of a superb Chelish private education. He is, however, quite observant, and he has used this talent to mask his lack of pure intellect.

He believes himself to always be the focus of all attention in a room, but in actuality does not stand out and seems quite ordinary and even a bit out of place.

His whip is almost a literal manifestation of his contempt for others, as it allows him to inflict pain from a distance without getting into close physical proximity.

DESCRIPTION
Petronicus is a tall and somewhat gangly Chelaxian man in his late teens. He is dressed in well-made travel clothes of exquisite quality that have seen numerous small repairs and are showing signs of heavy use. A fine chain shirt can be seen peaking out from beneath his shirt.

His shoulder-length black hair is worn loose and frames a narrow face and a hawk-like, patrician nose. His face generally carries a look of mild disgust or exasperation.
