Seben just understands the real academic pursuit is to sub-specialize in beetles. Fascinating creatures really.(In fact, Wikipedia tells me it has its own branch of study called Coleopterology. Smart lad, that Wikipedia.)
Great name for a Gnome Archivist Bard :) Wik Ipedia

I'm drifting into metagaming here, since Seben needs to level before she gets Knowledge (Religion), but maybe we can piggyback off of Indus's successful roll? If so, the standard operating procedure here is to have the cleric drop multiple channels to blast the thing with positive energy.
CLW from our wands might also work, but I think we need to-hit rolls for that (which is kinda weird) so channels are probably better. Lueck's chance to shine once more?
Then the bad news is that, even if successful, it just disables the haunt, meaning we can bypass it but we're sort of then trapped inside the compound. Maybe we can find the haunt's bones and sanctify them or something to lay the haunt to rest permanently.
So much for battling the millipede at range. . .

GM JaceDK |

Indus' knowledge roll was good enough that he'd know that the haunt can be disabled with something like a CLW spell. And in game terms, you can use the ready action to apply it as the haunt manifests, and hopefully prevent it from triggering again.
Indus also knows that like many traps, haunts often need time to reset after they have been disabled. So, unless you feel like spending the night in a haunted house in the middle of a necropolis crawling with undead (Google reviews say: 0 stars, walls tried to eat me, would not recommend), you're probably fine. Probably...

The_Beetle |

You're so negative! How about a little balance in that review?
3 1/2 Stars - * * * 1/2
"Interactive walls provide much entertainment. Constant heart rate acceleration takes care of the morning workout. Would recommend, but primarily for divine spellcasters with a positive attitude who are ready for anything."

What is the gray rectangle to the bottom of the insect? Is that something I can move on top of from the top of the wall? Or would my climb speed allow me to charge it?
Insect? That's right! Lueck eats insects. This centipede has got be looking like the largest buffet this grippli has ever seen!
With a few refrigeration spells, we could possibly set Lueck up with boxed lunches for weeks.
Though I guess we'd better first resolve who is eating who, exactly...

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all around.

GM JaceDK |

Happy New Year, everyone!
I’ll move the game along once the Jan 1st fatigue wears off.

GM JaceDK |

The irony is that I don’t even play 5e. I just could not remember the correct term.

GM JaceDK |

I'm going to be off-grid for about a week, starting on Wednesday. Feel free to GM NPC Seben, or whatever the proper term is.
Roger. Numerous castings of “create water” on the pool in the garden followed by a round of skinny dipping it is then…

Just checking... but have we deliberately crossed over into PF2 with our alchemical items?
Normally, in PF1, a vial of Alchemist's Fire does 1d6 fire damage on a direct hit (x1.5 against swarms), 1 splash on a miss... and does an extra 1d6 (x1.5 against swarms) the following round. It also costs 20gp.
Normally, in PF2, a lesser alchemist's fire does 1d8 Fire and 1 persistent Fire on a direct hit... and costs 3gp.
If the change is deliberate, there are a few other ones that we might want to stock up on ;-)

We definitly have not crossed into PF2e, so there has been a mix-up that I didn’t notice. Good catch, Luke.
The rules for PF1 alchemist fire outlined above apply. We’ll let the damage rolled so far stand for now (let’s say the granary was filled with some flamable grain dust or something) and roll 1d6 going forward.

*breaths sigh of relief*
I was worried that I had missed something.
If it is still up after 29 points of damage, I will be quite concerned :-P
Those were some lucky hits!

GM JaceDK |

Yeah, those are some crispy bugs by now. Expect swift retribution from the Beetle Protection Society.
I’ll throw up a post to round out combat and get us moving soon.

Indus Ionaeus |

Pardon my inactivity lately. I was made redundant effective May 1 about two weeks ago, so everything has been a bit chaotic since.
Also, if you know anyone who needs an experienced translator (EN to DA) with a focus on gaming and igaming, please let me know.

Indus Ionaeus |

Crappy to learn this, Bruno! Hopefully things are working out, or you are at least surviving?
Indus is not redundant to us!
Thanks, much appreciated.
I'm surviving - they were nice enough to give me a severance pay that will get us through the year - but still trying to figure out where to go from here. I've got some possible collaborations on the pipeline, but no single job that will give us enough for my share of the monthly expenses.

GM JaceDK |

Apologies for the prolonged silence. I'm in the middle of a project that's monopolizing my creative energy at the moment. I'll get back to this game soon, I promise.

Indus Ionaeus |

I get it, Indus, and I'm sorry to hear it. I got laid off at the end of 2023. I am still out of work; partly because the economy but largely because my wife's on hospice care now. I hope your situation turns around quickly enough that you can pocket some of that severance as a bonus.
Yikes, sorry to hear :( Makes my situation somewhat trivial.

GM JaceDK |

Truly sorry to hear that, Mark. I hope your situation will improve soon. All my best wishes to you and your family.

markofbane |

Thanks, guys. I didn't mean to one-up Indus on miseries. I was just trying to say I get how unemployment sucks, I didn't want him to think I'd been out of work for more than a year just because of the job market, but because of the other things going on for me.
But I do appreciate you all. Thank you.

GM JaceDK |

I'm still here and not going anywhere. Just keeping all of my PbP games at a very low burn at the moment, but don't worry, I'll get back to a faster pace in due time.
