The damage is equal to twice your int bonus, and could actually pair well with hand of the apprentice - except for the fact it competes with Quicken Spell for the swift action.
Actually, since it only specifies melee or ranged attack, while not saying it has to be an unarmed strike or a weapon attack, it could apply to touch attacks, as well. I suspect that interpretation requires some form of GM approval, however.
It could actually be good on a Wizard, who is typically only making a single attack a round. The feat investments, however, aren't the greatest.

I had it on a PFS character and I found it to be nearly useless. The main issue is that it requires 2 swift actions before it even gets started. You have to activate the style and identify the critter, both of which are swift actions. Swift actions are funny beasts since you can't swap other actions to be them (except immediate actions) so you can only do one per round. So unless you have a GM who allows you to always be in a combat style even while not in combat, you can only get the bonus damage on the third round, and in my experience it's a rare combat which goes that long.

Apologies guys. I don't know what happened - and it didn't only happen in this thread -- but I had thought I posted a nice thing on March 9 about being away from the 11 to yesterday without access and asking to be botted.
Maybe it was something like what happened to Marcus, but the opposite.

Hello again guys, first of all an update on the health front - got tested for COVID-19 and the results were negative. So that is done. Am also feeling better after a few days of fever. So all good on that end also.
I do have some bad news from my end also - I had some time to go over my games while laying down on my back for much longer than I would like during these past few days, and have decided to break away from this one.
I feel like I do not have the time/energy to invest as much as I would like, and definitely not as much as the game deserves. Also I must admit I feel the characters are somewhat detached from each other, maybe due to the nature of the dungeon crawl, or just the way we RP. Dunno...
I have already addressed GL via PM, and want to apologize you guys also for dropping out. Hope to see you around the boards. Take care.

By the way, I've reconfigured my prepared spells slightly. I'm dropping spider climb to prepare bull's strength as the Transmutation spell I prepare twice, and scorching ray has become extended mage armor. Where mage armor was once prepared, I have now prepared an extra grease.
For level 3, I have 2 haste spells prepared in my school slots and a couple of aqueous orbs to round it out.

You are correct. I mixed up terminology as the shards are Ioun stone-like. You have the ioun stone that neutralizes the effects of the Shard so you can take it without concern.
Von I think has the first shard/ioun stone.
The second one granted a +2 enhancement bonus to Strength so let's assume Marcus had it because it looks like it was not assigned.

OK, so in PFS, we're generally allowed to use gold to upgrade equipment. we have 5k you mentioned. In theory if I can upgrade instead of selling and buying anew, I should be able to upgrade my masterwork armor, shield and whip all to +1. Is this the case here? The city is quite large, and an upgrade to +1 is fairly quick since it's cheap.

If we can upgrade as Marcus suggests, I'd probably bump the armour to +1 and look for a belt of Dexterity +2 (for a total of 5k).

If it is masterwork you can make it magical and all magic items can be upgraded for the difference in the cost.

Well, a cloak of resistance +1 is a good start (1k). Now I gotta figure out the other 4k.
