The gnomes are barrels. Aterro is barrel chested. Coincidence? No f*cking way. After his farewells, the war cleric launched a new, covert operation into the slavery rings of the Rothenian plains. Undercover as a gnome, he was just about to put the final pieces of the case together when we showed up and ruined everything. ;)
Welcome back.
Arianna Moonwood
I like that one.
And yes! Welcome back Aterro!
Brother Aterro

Please make him come in the weirdest way possible!!!
Be careful what you wish for....
Aterro the Fearmonger reportin' for duty!
Good to be back guys. =)
Wouldn't it be weird if -I- was the balloon?

Welcome back.
You know how much overtime this department has put in? And here you go, you renegade maverick, with your youthful good lucks, plucky attitude, and stylish clothing from a major line, come walking in here, high on optimism and peppy songs, and you ruin my last big score.
Gah, I'm getting too old for this. So close to retirement, I can't believe I was talked back in for one last job.

Do I get Inspiration for spotting the Eddie Murphy reference? :)

Do I get Inspiration for spotting the Eddie Murphy reference? :)
Heh...sure thing. That and because I've started you out as a balloon. Which was technically you're idea. ;)

Look at the cute puppy keeping the balloon up. Go puppy go!
In other news there's a thing called r/BorderCollie because of course there is. Doesn't it seem like rule 34 has a reddit corollary? IF you can think of it, there's a reddit for it.
I think we're in a narrative tangle about how many gnome-balloons there are and who has how many. Since my mission was to track them and stop the deal, I can hold off as long as we have possession of both of them.
I'd like to question them about the details of the deal, but I can wait until everyone else is done with them. (I don't know how you'd interrogate a balloon, but I bet it involves something sharp.)
Gunnar Thorstein
I believe there are two, and Gunnar currently has none. He caught one in the air and gave it back to a young boy, then he was headed over to buy the other one but got distracted first by Aterro.
Arianna Moonwood
Haven't caught up on the gameplay, but yeah, there were two, Gunnar handed one to the boy that had let it go. Arianna got the other one while Gunnar was distracted. I just have a habit of posting right as someone else is from all appearances, which can make things tricky.

You'd planned on snatching the balloons as soon as everyone was distracted during the show, but then who should come strolling into the clearing but a dwarf, a bearkin, and an elf.
Something I've been meditating on is that I get lost in Tareth's bountiful and varied prose to the point that I'll lose track of what is going on. Hence, yeah, I'm sure I'm lost here, and I'm just making sure.
@GM, so, yeah, there are only two gnome-loons and Arianna has one and the other gnome-slaver-flesh-seller is in the hands of a small boy?
Just checking before I challenge the boy to single combat. ;-]
DM - Tareth
Sorry for the delay all. Been a little jammed up at work. Getting caught up and should have a post up by this afternoon.
As for the distribution of gnome balloons...
One is currently in the hands of the shadow fae boy.
One is currently held by Arianna.
There are a couple of other gnomish balloons but one looks like Ibrox and you're pretty sure that just means someone sold his marketing rights. The other...well you don't really know what that is, could just be an actual balloon.

Reminder the psi-die only get spent if it matters to succeed, let me know what to mark off my tracker.
Arianna Moonwood
DM-Tareth, I hope you will take this in the spirit it is given.
You are one evil bastard. I love that last post of yours!

You only need to mark off the first die when making the 'poison.' Those other rolls were plenty good enough.
You are one evil bastard. I love that last post of yours!
Haha! The ultimate GM compliment. :) Glad you liked it.

I'm just wondering when the other shoe's gonna drop on our group. It's been going a little too well.
Speaking of, I currently have the following items recovered.
- Arianna's Pack, which is a gift from her parents
- The amulet that appears to made of starlight and moonbeams depicting a road winding beneath an arch made by the crescent moon and crowned by seven stars. A gift that was given to her on her Wandering
- Arianna's Journals, which I have decided that their are currently 13 of.
- Arianna's coin purse.
1) Is there anything in the pack or the purse? If so, what?
2) Is there anything else of Arianna's in the bins or hanging on the wall?
3) Is there anything of the gnome's (the one that Arianna currently has a hold of)?
Arianna Moonwood
Well, I should have seen that coming. Good thing I already have a backup character in case Arianna turns into a pile of demon worms. ;)
Also, I never got an answer to the questions I posted. I'll post them here as well to make life a little easier.

Arianna, if you are too sick to walk, you still have the ability to fly from Gunnar’s spell.
Arianna Moonwood
Thanks, but I think she's a little preoccupied at the moment.
Now, the big question is if anyone grabs her stuff on the counter.
Arianna Moonwood
So here's what I was thinking.
The pack had chainmail, a shortsword, a writing/sketching kit, and her cooking utensils. The bin had her bow and quiver, but whether or not there are any arrows is something that I think needs a GM call.
I didn't make a whole list of gear that she started with, so I'm kinda making this up beyond the stuff I mentioned when Arianna first joined up.
I'll see about getting a list of what she's found together tomorrow. I just don't have the energy for it tonight.
Scramsax
Drunk, could be wrong but...
Rolling a d100 5 times (out of the possible 9 for this set of beans) has 10 billion possible outcomes. Then the chances of NOT rolling a 100 after 5 rolls is (99/100)^5=0.95. By the rule of complement probability, getting a 100 after 5 rolls is actually 1-0.95=.05 or 5%.
Exact same as a single roll nat 20. ;D
Arianna Moonwood
So here's the list of Arianna's stuff that's been recovered as far as I know.
- Spell component pouch
-- Flute
- All 13 of her journals
- Her amulet that glows as if made of moon beams and star light
- Her bow and quiver, status of arrows unknown
- Her pack (handy haversack) which was given to her by her parents
-- One of her travelling/adventuring outfits
-- Her armor (Chain Shirt, since I double-checked and she doesn't have the strength to wear chain mail)
-- Her short sword
-- Her writing and drawing tools
-- Her cooking utensils
She's pretty much got all of the stuff she cares about back, so anything else at this point is just gravy.
Also, It seems that both Gunnar and Arianna have the gnome-loons. Is that right?
Scramsax
Not bad considering when Scram lost his thieves' tools it took 2 RL years to get them back. ;D
Arianna Moonwood
Well, yeah, there is that. :D
Then again, Arianna didn't lose her stuff by frolicking in a field of hallucinogenic flowers. ;P
Brother Aterro
|
Gunnar gave me his gnome-loon.
Understandable. I am very pretty. =]
Scramsax
Hehe, no regerts on the field of flowers, those were some kewl scenes.
Arianna Moonwood
Oh, I agree. I enjoyed reading it. :D
Scramsax
Weird, somehow I double favorited the 2 recent beanstalk posts. Does that show up for everyone? I must have hit the favorite button really hard. XD
Arianna Moonwood
I didn't see that, but I did favorite them.
One of these days, we're going to be before the gods and answering for a lot of shenanigans. :P
Luthael Invictusol
And the story of "Scramsax and the Beanstalk" was born
Scramsax
They all wear Rowan Atkinson masks and have intricate adventures with ordinary objects. One of them accidentally summons a demon after a sequence of routine slapstick.
Scramsax
Pretty sure that Arianna has the parasites that Luthael has been fighting off in the other prisoners.
Wow, I did not make that connection at all! Totally makes sense. Ingenious bait and switch on the part of the DM if true. :) My mind instantly went to the lemonade, sausages, big buns, etc.
Arianna Moonwood
Of which Arianna had none. You're on your own for that one. :P
Scramsax
1 person marked this as a favorite.
dead halfling
Nope, I don't believe it until the body is found. ...even then. XD
Arianna Moonwood
Consider it 3rd person limited. Arianna has no idea about how creepy Scramsax's abhorrent admirer is, thus the narrations from her viewpoint is limited to her knowledge. Me on the other hand? My money's on some flavor of vampire or a succubus.
Gunnar Thorstein
Sorry, Aterro, Gunnar didn't mean to cut off your opportunity for romance. From the previous post, I thought she had already lost her grip and was falling by the time Gunnar was close enough to act. If you really want to catch her, feel free to ask Gunnar to redirect and catch her with the rug...
Arianna Moonwood
I see. So Aterro's standards are bombshell and mysterious masked elf? :P
Arianna Moonwood
Sooooooo, I just made that bit up without really thinking things through. I think I'm gonna wait to see what the GM does with it before I reply to Aterro.
That said, Arianna is totally planning on stealing their clothes while they're not looking and letting them deal with that bit of embarrassment.
