I think we've had one vote for rest (though Emil is fine going forward) and a couple for moving immediately, so I think quick action is probably the way to go.
We've had a vote for caravan first (though I'm happy to go with consensus) and one for camp first. Anyone else want to weigh in on target?
Jillian Vrosk |
Jillian only wanted the camp first if we were resting since she would be worried overnight and into a new day the hobgoblins may be missed, a few hours she wouldn't worry about them sending out a search party. Since it sounds like no rest, I am fine with going to the wagon.

Made a Party Skills tab in our loot spreadsheet. Figured by now we would know what people are good at. Thought it might help in describing actions.

Cool beans, thanks.

That's handy! Thanks for your work on that!

So since I was reminded about this in another game and we are just starting up. I have a Discord channel just as a secondary point of contact. I created it after the forum fail of last year where they were down forever so communication could still flow if that happens again.
If we want to utilize it as a backup for communication I setup a channel for this game. Here is the link if we are interested. When you join just say your character name and game you are in so I can set permissions appropriately.

I created a user name using Father Emil. Is there anything else I need to do to connect with others in this game?
Father Emil |
I'm getting non-stop pop-ups from my task bar with people's messages. How do I turn that off? The messages are not to me and I don't have any friends yet nor am I following any games.
Edit: Never mind, I figured it out.

Next time we're at the militia caves, Emil would like to craft a couple of platinum rings, each worth 25 gp, for a spell component. He will fashion one ring so it can be worn by Pila, so he can cast Shield Other on her. Emil has the blacksmith skill assuming that is good enough to craft a couple of non-magical rings (or would it take a jeweler?).
Edit: I'm going through spells and found one it's worth noting for when characters want to convert a normal weapon or suit of armor or set of tools into a masterwork item: Masterwork Transformation. The material components of the spell includes the cost of making an item a MWK item (typically 300 gp for a weapon, 150 gp for armor, or 50 gp for a tool), but it saves having to make the item from scratch. Emil will be using the spell up make his scythe and smith hammer into masterwork quality items once we get more treasure to pay for it from his share. I'd recommend everyone who does not already have a magic or MWK weapon to upgrade.

Oof this is going to hurt with no armor...
Maybe I should have kept that armored coat as a backup since it is a move action to don :P
Jillian Vrosk |
I think if I did that I may be the only one alive in my tent once I finally get it on...
Now the need-to-get feat list is
Improved Initiative
Endurance
Jillian Vrosk |
Ouch... can Thael even make a DC 31 concentration check to finish the summon?
Father Emil |
I'll get something posted this evening. It's been a busy couple of days with an unexpected home improvement necessitated by a failing washing machine plus today had two afternoon meetings.

Since I'm in one of your other games and love, love, love what you are doing with dynamic lighting, I'm gonna give that a huge DO IT from me. :)
Jillian Vrosk |
No issues here.

Sounds good to me.

I'll be honest that I much, much prefer Google Drawings (I can check that at work, and just find it generally easier). That said, if everyone else disagrees, I'll deal with it.
Jillian Vrosk |
Map is all black for me.
Selde Cathron |
I haven't really played around with lighting in roll 20. Does it take in to account darkvision and low light vision?
Father Emil |
I changed the name to Father Emil. Couldn't see a way to change the image, so I assume that is in the hands of the GM.
Map is black to me.

I'm not likely to be able to post until tonight, so 'bot me if necessary. He should send the eagle to attack, probably floppy ears if he's not down yet. The Spiritual weapon has 2 more attacks on him as well, although a move action can shift it to a different foe. If anyone needs healing, he can channel or convert a 1st level spell or use the wand. If no one needs healing, he'll break out the scythe and advance to attack with Pila.
Father Emil |
My posting is going to slow to a trickle the next couple of days, as I have extra project work with deadlines of Friday and Monday, the end of the term in my classes, and an in-law visiting from out of town.
'Bot as needed.
Father Emil |
My work schedule has again shifted to working evenings rather than mornings. I'll try to do any posting I can before mid-afternoon. After that, I may only be able to make quick posts during break time or after 11 PM (EDT). This will be in effect for the next five weeks.
I have some extra duties that will tax my free time, so I might not get as many posts in or when I do post, they might be less detailed.
Caspan Saal |
Do we maybe want to decide on our plan here?
I think an all-out assault on the camp is really dangerous. I think hit and run tactics make a lot of sense -- we're a weaker party against a bigger enemy, so that's more likely to succeed IMO than just matching forces.
If they don't follow us out, we circle around and attack from a different direction -- and keep doing that till they send a few people out that we can ambush and kill or until we've caused enough attrition that we'll have more success than an all-out attack.
That keeps them somewhat pinned in the area and gives them a reason why now two groups have not come back (the ones from the caves and then the group we killed yesterday).
Wren Chavali |
My idea is the same as Caspan. We are going to get murdered if we attack head on.
But we need to do something one way or the other, as we are grinding our momentum to a halt.
Thael Silverstep |
I like that idea, Caspan. Maybe we start with taking out their wolf pack, then retreat and come back for more (or kill whoever follows us in a bramble bottleneck.
Father Emil |
Based on what the GM has told us of the camp, it sounds like the only occupants are the animals and the worg. I doubt that means there are no hobgoblins. Can we get some idea of what other occupants are in the compound? Otherwise, how do we know whether to attack fort now or try for guerrilla tactics?
I'm going to be super busy all week, so whoever makes the call, assume Emil is there to support however seems best. He'll summon eagles, provide archery support, or join in the front line as a fighter. I'll post as I'm able.
GM ShadowLord |
From your scouting report before you learned there were at least a dozen hobgoblins in the camp.
From your current vantage point you can easily see that many. I've moved you to the battle map and updated it with the positions of the enemy locations.
It's also clear to me now that being on the edge you are going to need a stealth roll to avoid being seen by ten different guys.
Caspan Saal |
FYI, I'll be gone for much of the next two weeks. I'm in Miami from Wednesday through Monday, after which I'll try to check back into all my games. I'll then be gone to PaizoCon from Thursday through late Monday. I don't expect to check in at all during that time except Monday-Wednesday when I'm back home.
Obviously feel free to bot me; I hope you know how Caspan plays by now. Against humanoid, he obviously likes the trip, punch combo. There are macros set up to hopefully make that easier. I think I've been tending to do my martial flexibility to get power attack, but feel free to look for better options. Also, he's got knockout if we come up against a spellcaster or someone else that looks like they're worth using that on.
