Both would work, but the fighter would have fewer moral qualms doing what we be doing. In the end, I much prefer for you to pick whatever you'd enjoy playing the most.
I've never seen an eldritch guardian in play, so for the sake of voting, I will cast my vote on that ;)
On team forming: that sounds right to me.

Yeah, Pallies are just so good at that sort of thing! :) The problem is that I enjoy both... Say'ri was originally an EG fighter the first time I played this and with Pack Flanking, Outflank and a mauler familiar that could fly she got silly effective in combat. On the other hand... smite evil!
No! I'm making up my mind! Eldritch Guardian it is! :) She's still LG though...
Oh lord Devon, you're going to be worse than the last rogue Say'ri had to work with aren't you? At least she knew not to steal the forks!
Also Wastrel - can I have more than one campaign trait? There's 3(!) that are really fitting for Say'ri!

![]() |

Say'ri is ready to go! :D
Strictly the Pack Flanking feat requires an animal companion, but I'm assuming that a mauler familiar is close enough to make sense for the feat?

Wandering GM Wastrel |

That works well, Say'ri.
Before the game starts, I'd like to know what constitutes the most respectful way of looting a tomb.
Pharasimins believe that the dead should be treated with dignity and respect. If the interred need to be disturbed to recover an antiquity or relic, they should be returned to their resting places carefully. It is understood that the ancient dead are often brittle, but there is no need for the contents of a sarcophagus to be summarily dumped on the ground.

Sounds like a story worth hearing

Hm... ok, I suppose. I let Devon play a catfolk, after all.
Right, I'm pretty swamped with work at the moment so I probably won't get a gameplay post up and running before Tuesday. Can you all be ready by then?

![]() |

Don't worry - I managed without in the end. :)
As to the other rouge, take a look at this campaign and you should get some sort of idea. Mirri was very sweet, and very trying occasionally!
Tuesday is fine. Say'ri is all done, so just ready and looking forward to it! :)

Wandering GM Wastrel |

And done - happy gaming, one and all; and may the odds be ever in your favour.
Oh no, wait, that was something different - or was it...?

![]() |

The odds are always in my favor - because the God's do not play at dice!
And anyway, Say'ri wouldn't let a little thing like the Hunger Games stop her looking after Ben-Ali! :)

Eliyajah Arodenson |

As a player, I am fine with both suggested names. It's just a name, after all ;)

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Really sorry about the lack of posting. I'm still very much here, but next week is the year-end review of targets meaning that all the clinical data has to be signed off on, and of course everyone leaves it to the last minute *grumble*
Normal service will be resumed asap! Please don't panic.

Saw this today and figured it would be fitting to share the story here: Archaeologists in Egypt have made an exciting tomb discovery - the final resting place of a high priest, untouched for 4,400 years.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Still waiting on what respectful pillaging of tombs means.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Great - I'm not into "gotcha!" type playing. If a proposed course of action is likely to land you in trouble then I'll let you know.
Also, sorry about the slow posting. I'm now off work until Jan so the pace is about to pick up!

Wandering GM Wastrel |

@Devon (and everyone) - I don't allow Take 20 when the consequences of failure are potentially severe, e.g. Perception rolls in exploration situations.
Roll the dice :)

Devon Durant |

Somebody else should grab Ashira's healers kit and try to stabilize her. Devon has a negative Wisdom modifier. :(

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Anyone familiar with Wati would know that travelling alone through the necropolis is a really, really bad idea (the suggestion is in character for Devon's Wis 8 though).
I didn't plan for this eventuality, but I'm sure that the Church of Pharasma did. Let's say that there are priests stationed at the gate with healing on hand for those who can afford it.

Devon Durant |

In that case, we could hoist Ashira up the rope and all carry her together to the gate. 10 gp should be enough to purchase a casting of cure light wounds from a 1st level cleric.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Works for me. Unless anyone posts with a different suggestion in the next few hours I'll update on that basis later today in order to get Ashira back up and running agan.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Ashira's healing is free (don't tell me I'm not good to you)
If anyone else wants it, it'll cost.

Ashira Silthand |

I made my post before reading the discussion. Sorry about that, I thought everyone came with.
Sounds like a carrot and stick technique, DM. Thank you though.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

I'm not a fan of the stick - but I have had good results with a suitably pointy carrot ;-)

Wandering GM Wastrel |

@Devon - yes, the friendly priestess healed you back to full hit points :-)
(You might want to roll a backup character, though: based on the decisions this one is making, I'm not sure it's going to last)

Devon Durant |

That's Wis 8 for you. It's bad decisions that got her cursed in the first place. :\

Devon Durant |

Ugh, those rolls. Devon is the new Raquel. :(
If I don't set off the trap, I'll agree with Eli and save the chest for later.

Wandering GM Wastrel |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Ugh, those rolls. Devon is the new Raquel. :(
No, no, no - that's crazy talk. Raquel has a MUCH better life expectancy.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

I've just been told that I'll be travelling with work on Weds-Fri this week. I'll do my best to post but opportunities may be scarce.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

I think there's another adventuring party in need of the anti-swarm shield ^_^

Eliyajah Arodenson |

That's why the high-dex 'staying in the back' people need to pick up, hug and love vials of alchemist fire \._.\

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Sorry about the delay, I've been planning the chapter finale in my KM campaign and it took longer than expected. Here now.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Note: I double-checked, and this is an encounter pitched at first level characters. Personally, I think it's lethal but I'm running it as written so we'll see what happens.

Devon Durant |

Is the trap still active? Can I try to disable it, or did the electricity stop? I'm assuming the sarcophagus is a separate creature we have to fight.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Electric arc is one-time only. The trap's status is unknown at present, although you can spend a round to investigate.
The sarcophagus is a separate beast, although it was activated by the trap.

Eliyajah Arodenson |

My apologies for the wall of text, but I felt the need to elaborate! :)

Wandering GM Wastrel |

Interesting. Good use of an illusion, although constructs are mindless so I don't know how that works.
You're in enough trouble that I'll let you have it, with the sarcophagus auto disbelieving after Devon attacks 'through' the wall
Sadly though the thing has hardness 5 so the attack was completely ineffective...

Devon Durant |

So, what campaign should we attempt next after we all TPK? >_<
I think our best chance is trying to get a door open to escape.

Wandering GM Wastrel |

I promise, I'm honestly not trying to TPK you all again (I already removed one enemy I thought was overpowered: a sand elemental in the rubble strewn passageway) - this is exactly how the encounter is written :(
