The Gloved Hand I Elisabetta I Kyra I Luciana I Sasha I Violetta

Hi all

Dot in here so I can close the other thread.

Character generation:

Pathfinder material only, no 3rd party materials.

*20 point buy
*average starting wealth
*2 traits plus campaign trait (NO DRAWBACKS)
*Background skills from PF Unchained
*ALL classes with 2 skill points/level get ‘promoted’ to 4 skill points/level
*Unchained classes are permitted (and in the case of Summoner, required)
*Maximum hit points (for all levels: I don’t want anyone dying unless I’ve actually put some effort into killing you!)

Please give me some background to work with. Some notes on appearance and personality would also be helpful.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Brainiac dotting in here. I'll have my character up a little later today. :)

Dot dot dot :)

Will put together Imhotep's alias later.

Doot! I'll try to draw up a character concept today.

Human Champion 17 | HP 156/280; resist acid 5, evil 5, slashing 3 | AC: 42 (44 w/shield) | F: +29, R: +22, W: +27; juggernaut, divine will | Per +24 (+26 init) | Speed 25 ft | Focus 2/2| Hero Points 3/3 | Conditions: None

All of the pertinent info should now be up under the alias.

The Gloved Hand I Elisabetta I Kyra I Luciana I Sasha I Violetta

@Devon - you get 2 traits plus a campaign trait, so it looks like you're one trait short

Other than that, looks ok.

Ah, cool. I'll pick Resilient then. (+1 on Fortitude saves.)

The Gloved Hand I Elisabetta I Kyra I Luciana I Sasha I Violetta

Ok, a few more questions for Devon

How long ago was the failed expedition and curse?

Do you want to make up some details about the unfortunate group that Devon was a part of?

How long has she been in Osirion and the city of Wati in particular?

Human Champion 17 | HP 156/280; resist acid 5, evil 5, slashing 3 | AC: 42 (44 w/shield) | F: +29, R: +22, W: +27; juggernaut, divine will | Per +24 (+26 init) | Speed 25 ft | Focus 2/2| Hero Points 3/3 | Conditions: None

It's probably been several months. Let's say three months or so. There was probably some planning time before they went to the pyramid, so she'll have been in Osirion for four months total. She's only been in Wati for a week or two, just long enough to sign up with another adventuring group.

I'll come up with some details of the previous group who died either later today or tomorrow. It will probably consist of some of my players' most annoying former PCs over the years. >:)

The Gloved Hand I Elisabetta I Kyra I Luciana I Sasha I Violetta

Sounds good!

Thinking of having you guys not know each other to start with - the get together would be a sort of mini adventure (mostly individual spoilers).

Or we can just go straight into it, in which case you can manufacture a backstory for how you know each other. I'm good either way.

The Gloved Hand I Elisabetta I Kyra I Luciana I Sasha I Violetta

My rules on encumbrance are that Thou Shalt Not Take The Piss. I won't track it exactly, but if your weedy Str 6 halfling is carrying 4 suits of full plate, 3 marble statues and a partridge in a pear tree then I'm going to raise an eyebrow.

@Ashira - looks fine, except the ACP for hide armour is -3 and not -4, and it gives a +4 bonus, not +5 (your overall AC is correct, but the breakdown you've given says +5 armour).

Look forward to reading the background and other fluff once you have it written.

@Solicitor, Nikolaus - do you have an idea when your characters might be ready?

I'm rolling up an Udda (Osirion desert elf) wizard as we speak. It seems we have the charisma aspects covered, but are severely lacking in the strength department :P

Strength is overrated! Dexterity is where it's at!

Ha, there ought to be balance in all things! And with two low-STR characters, we truly do need a bit more o' muscle.

However, I got stuck with my character, so I'm going out for a walk, do some groceries, and then return to the drawing table. I love wizards, but lately, I can't seem to come up with a wizard concept that I actually *want to play* ._.

What do we still need? A front-liner? A dedicated caster? A support bot?

Human Champion 17 | HP 156/280; resist acid 5, evil 5, slashing 3 | AC: 42 (44 w/shield) | F: +29, R: +22, W: +27; juggernaut, divine will | Per +24 (+26 init) | Speed 25 ft | Focus 2/2| Hero Points 3/3 | Conditions: None

We've got a skill-monkey, a healer, and a blaster. A tank wouldn't suck. I could use a cuddle flanking buddy.

The Gloved Hand I Elisabetta I Kyra I Luciana I Sasha I Violetta

Theorycrafting wizards is fun, but actually playing a lvl 1 wizard can be a bit sucky once you're down to nothing but cantrips for the day.

EDIT: also, I don't think Nikolaus has posted a character yet - how do you know it's a blaster?

Because my stated concept (which we PM'd about) is a kineticist. Since we seem to be moving away from the 'slightly silly' party as originally envisaged I might go back to my original Mummy's Mask build, which was an Eldritch Guardian fighter who used a two-handed flail and did some silly flanking tricks with her familiar.

I'll have to use a different alias (probably Ashlion) but that isnt an issue. He'd be a hammer rather than a tank. Alternatively I can do a magus for something a little more arcane if you'd prefer the fighty spot Solicitor.

Human Champion 17 | HP 156/280; resist acid 5, evil 5, slashing 3 | AC: 42 (44 w/shield) | F: +29, R: +22, W: +27; juggernaut, divine will | Per +24 (+26 init) | Speed 25 ft | Focus 2/2| Hero Points 3/3 | Conditions: None

Was about to respond, but Nik beat me to it!

At any rate, here are the doomed adventurers from Devon's previous party:

Aventine, human cavalier. A member of the Order of the Cockatrice, Aventine was a pompous braggart from Cheliax whose only concern was increasing his own personal glory.

Buzbelicious "Boom Boom" McAllister, gnome alchemist. A hyperactive and excitable gnome obssessed with explosives and poisons.

Ivan, human druid. An anti-social tree-hugger who was always more concerned about the well-being of any animals the group came across than his actual party members.

Torg, half-orc monk. Despite claiming to have grown up in a monastery, Torg acted more like a barbarian, threatening to crush foes like "tiny grapes" and trying to flurry with a greataxe.

Well at least none of my PC's are there! :D

I'm leaning towards a full caster. I'm already playing a paladin, a brawler and a magus in my other campaigns so it's nice to steer away from something martial for once.

Just can't decide on whether that caster is going to be a wizard, sorcerer or a shaman :)

And there I was getting more and more excited about a sorceror...

Right... now how to resolve the alias question...

Go for the sorcerer then :) I'll figure something out.

The Gloved Hand I Elisabetta I Kyra I Luciana I Sasha I Violetta

I've always had a soft spot for sorcerors - hedgehogs rather than foxes. On the other hand, having someone who can reliably do Int based skills never hurts.

Incidentally, I'm thinking of using some of the rules from Horror Adventures - probably not the Sanity clause which is fairly hardcore, but the expanded fear rules and possibly some others.

Let me know what you think.

Stop being so nice to me, it doesn't help with decisions!

I'll play the fighter. Assuming I can get her out of her other game it means I can use my custom made MM Pc :)

Wastrel: a couple of things. Would you consider/allow the Elephant in the Room feat taxes? Skipping combat expertise helps a lot and it's a horrible feat! Second, would you allow me to buy khopesh proficiency with a skill point? In the previous game the Gm said (and I sgree) that getting 'trip' on a longsword really doesn't equate to a whole feat. He allowed it for a skill point instead. If not no biggie, just thought I'd ask :)

The Gloved Hand I Elisabetta I Kyra I Luciana I Sasha I Violetta

Yes, Elephant feat tax rules are fine.

Re khopesh, I'll do you one better: any character native to Osirion can use a khopesh if they're proficient with the longsword.

Alright, I got my character concept up and running: Eliyajah Arodenson. He's a bogborn from the murky mires between Cheliax and Andoran, who somehow managed to make his way to Wati. Something about his mummer's curse and a drunken promise to a promising belle 'bout getting her some crocodile leather boots. Or maybe he borrowed hers - she who happens to be his cousin - for a party and lost them on the way back home. Whatever the truth may be, Eliyajah is here and he's hell-bent on getting himself inside one o' them tombs.

Human. Wizard. Illusionist. Bayou banter.

Hehe ;)

I just need to sort out his gear, but other than that he's ready to go. As to how we met and got together, Eli happens to know a lot about all kinds of stuff. Undead, magic, the gods: he's your man. Oddly enough, his bird companion seems awfully familiar with Wati and Osirion customs and traditions. That, and its history.

Most wizards are quirky individuals and in that regard, Eli isn't that exceptional. Right?

The promise of gold and knowledge are more than enough to lure him into any venture, but when enough gold is involved to be able to purchase crocodile leather boots, he *is* your man.

Say'ri has a reason to form a party so its mostly a matter of why you all know her. I'll try to redo the background tonight but I lost my old version of her backstory - much to my annoyance!

Male N Human (Chelish/Varisian) Wizard (Illusionist) 1 | HP: 16/16 | AC: 12 (12 Tch, 10 Fl) | CMB: +0, CMD: 12 | F: +2, R: +2, W: +4 | Init: +2 | Perc: +6, SM: +1 | Speed 30ft | Terror: 7/7 | Spells: 1st 3/4 | Active conditions: None.

You mean this background, Say'ri?:
--------------------
Appearance
--------------------
Say'ri is tall and well muscled. As a native Osiriani she is dark skinned and wears her hair in tight braids. Her father always claimed his daughter was a great beauty, but Say'ri was wise enough to know that wide lips and a strong jaw are not the ingredients of a great beauty. Her friends call her striking, her enemies call her plain but none of them can deny that she is exceptionally dedicated to both her husband and her faith.
--------------------
Personality
--------------------
Say'ri is an exceptional guardian. Her focus and commitment to her cause is unyielding, this concentration is one of her greatest assets. She has made a wide number of friends over the years as her community work with her husband, has made her a reliable friend for a large number of people from all walks of life. When she has the chance she prefers to plan and account for all possibilities rather than jump in head first. When required she will act on the fly but she prefers to gather information and make a proper plan.

On the less positive side Say'ri is not the most measured of individuals. Her husband's illness, and her part in it, has left her overprotective and prone to paranoia, which her planning is an attempt to combat. Anyone she considers important is liable to be 'protected', some might say smothered, to the best of her considerable ability.
--------------------
Motivation
--------------------
First and foremost Say'ri needs to provide herself and her husband with money, firstly to live and secondly to begin rebuilding the Temple of Horus in Wati.

She has two more personal goals however, ones which she has yet to share with anyone - even her husband. Firstly, to find a cure for Ben-Ali's illness. That one she knows she will need help with, magic is not one of her talents. The second is much more simple, revenge. She harbors a dark desire to find the men who attacked her husband and burned her home. Find them, find out what they wanted and then make them pay for what they did.
--------------------
Background
--------------------
Say'ri's life has been defined by her faith. Her family has worshiped Horus for generations, ever since their distant ancestor, the Falcon Pharaoh, made it the official religion of Osirian. Born to the last priest of Horus in Wati Say'ri knew from birth that she was destined to serve her god. Aged fifteen she first met, and fell in love with, her future husband Ben-Ali. He had been sent from Sothis to train under her father and continue to maintain the temple of Horus in Wati. It was not a prestigious post but Ben-Ali took to the job with good grace and soon became one of the family.

Say'ri herself had never possessed the academic and spiritual leanings required to be a successful priest, being an adventurous and active spirit instead. Her father arranged for training with the City Watch and Say'ri spent a great amount of time learning weapons and making forays into the necropolis to combat intruders and minor undead uprisings. Shortly before her twenty-third birthday she found a Zombie just about to eat an injured falcon. Recognising the favored messenger of her god Say'ri rushed in and ended the Zombie before bringing the injured bird back to the temple, where she nursed it to health. By the time it was healed the bird refused to leave her side and the two of them became a regular feature on city watch patrols.

She and Ben-Ali were married by her father as one of his last official acts as priest. His final act was to invest Ben-Ali with the sacred scarf of the priesthood and his daughter with the Feathered Shield of Horus, officially anointing her as Temple Guardian. For the next three years Ben-Ali and Say'ri became well known figures in Wati, their constant missions of charity and compassion making them friends in every district of the city.

Their happiness was ruined one night when the temple was attacked. Say'ri had been out, supporting the City Guard on another incursion into the Necropolis and the first she knew of trouble was when al-Janah came to her bedraggled and soot stained. As she raced home she saw smoke rising above the houses and found her neighbors wielding buckets to try and extinguish the fire engulfing the temple. Not seeing Ben-Ali, Say'ri shook off the restraining hands and plunged into the burning building. In the temple's library she arrived just in time to see a man wearing a funerary mask plunge a dagger into her husband and flee with an armful of scrolls. Say'ri gave chase but lost him in the twisting streets of the Veins. By the time she returned Ben-Ali had been dragged from the building and the fires extinguished, but the temple was a burned out shell.

More importantly to Say'ri her husband developed a terrible illness. The priests of Pharasma diagnosed it as a combination of the assassin's poison and damage to his lungs as he lay in the burning temple. Say'ri was wracked by guilt, her failure either to catch the thief or rescue her husband ate away at her and she resolved to never leave her husband unprotected again. Over the next two years Say'ri worked herself to the bone to gain funds to re-establish the temple and support her husband in his continuing work. Unfortunately the small community who continued to worship the Old God's were devout but not wealthy and simply keeping food on the table and medicines to keep Ben-Ali alive prevented them both making much progress in rebuilding the temple. Her husband took her mothering with good grace, although he insisted that his work as priest continue. Unable to dissuade him Say'ri contented herself with accompanying him, hand drifting to the hilt of her khopesh at the slightest provocation.

The announcement that the Ruby Prince was ordering the Necropolis opened to treasure hunters provided a lifeline for Say'ri and Ben-Ali. He urged her at once to go and sign up, her experience in the Necropolis would be invaluable to any number of teams. Say'ri was much less sure, leaving her husband alone worried her more than she was willing to admit. Only the lean state of their purses convinced her and that day, taking al-Janah and her shield with her Say'ri set out to register for the opening.

Yes. I am truly a wizard.

.. and hey! Eli knows all about the mummers, aches to get into one of them tombs and, you know, is actually pretty good at this whole wizarding thing. He most likely went to the temple of Pharasma to bother the locals about everything and nothing as long as it relates to mummies, the river that runs through Wati and to exchange stories on the walking dead. After all, he comes from a bog where the occasional corpse comes crawling out of the peat.

Pally obviously comes with lots of options for extra undead beating, whereas the fighter will be super versatile and able to do a lot with an animal companion and the right feats...
