Also signed up for a 5k fun run for charity. The fun part of the equation will be that I will already be running 5k in the morning so that makes 10k distance total covered. Again I don't forsee it as a problem since I have run 10k straight before.

Garrosh Saurfang |

Mort, just a note to say Garrrosh now rolls twice for Initiative ;)

GM Mort |

Thanks for heads up.
Conveniently enough I'm sitting at the clinic filling the patient registration form for my medical checkup, which my insurance, AIA wants me to go for, for the AIA vitality, so I can get my healthy cashback vouchers from cold storage

Piotr Tataru |

That doesn't sound pleasant, but good luck, I hope for your very excellent check up.

GM Mort |

Nah its easy. Haul arse to clinic, get a syringe of blood drawn out and I'll pass the test with flying colours since my diet has been squeaky clean and I've been working out a LOT.

Garrosh Saurfang |

Should be a walk in the park for you Mort, true :D

GM Mort |

Here's what's for lunch and dinner tomorrow:
Half the tofu in the bluebox, not all though.
Also breakfast is tuna pizza and milk. Fruits...eh I'll just go wing things.
I spent today chopping up 1.1 kg of cauliflower and 630g of broccoli.

Piotr Tataru |

TOFU!!!!??!?
Ignore the screaming :)
My littlest has requested doughnuts for breakfast, and I must bow to his superior wisdom. Yesterday I made eggs on toast.

GM Mort |

Day one of Mort's rations turned out quite well. Takes 2 min to heat up and 25 min to scarf down everything(tau kwa, vegs, and chickpeas). And it's more tasty then eating salads. (Especially without dressing, since I don't care for most salad dressing).
Eggs on toast are pretty tasty! And oh doughnuts...eh I don't eat them much, though I had a scoop of udders ice cream today. Going for a run now.

GM Mort |

My colleague asked me on the Shape run 2019. She's going for the 5km. Should I do 5 km or 10 km? I can do 10 km though I'm certainly more accustomed to 5 km runs. Timing would be better definitely, 10 km I think I would need to step up my run training so I don't embarrass myself on the day.

Garrosh Saurfang |

I suggest going for the 5km - I am no expert in running training, but I believe if you want to hit the 10km mark, it is something you will have to do on your own time, and at your pace, then take it from there.

GM Mort |

Also yeah, what I expected would happen, happened. My colleague will be passing half her job scope to me while waiting for the newcomer to show up.
Actually Garrosh - I've self timed myself on 10 km. I can make it, if not very comfortably(get the feeling like I might be getting blisters). The issue is what kind of timing is expected of me and also I suspect at this early stage, terrain+weather can easily screw me over.Though the shape run terrain is flat, but depending on the time of the day it can get very hot.
It's like a new pair of wings that aren't fully tested yet. I know they work because I've been flapping them for lift but I haven't jumped off the cliff yet per se.
Also my shoes are falling apart(they've been since last year). I really should get to getting a new pair. I have a spare pair but my timings aren't that good - around 1 min more on 5 km.

Rozalia Tilescu |

Sorry I haven't posted here in a while. I'll get leveled up and put something up later today.

GM Mort |

I just came back from sprout. I had stir fried brocolli with carrots and black fungus, lion head mushroom rendang, 5 takoyaki balls, a scoup of dark chocolate ice cream and my shopping bag has pesto sauce, blueberries, an aloe Vera ice jelly, a soy pudding, 250g of cocrodile tail meat, some chufa nuts and a bottle of elderberry mead in it. Talk about retail therapy...

Piotr Tataru |

Lion head mushroom?

GM Mort |

My colleague's last day is today. I am officially holding the hat now. Her replacement will come in on the 22nd,but we are likely not going to give her everything yet, so hat remains with me.
My colleague has been doing this for 11 years so there's going to be quite the gap to fill. I hope I'm up to it.

Garrosh Saurfang |

Take a breather and remember to prioritize Mort ;)

GM Mort |

Thanks for your confidence in me guys!
Yep, Auryl, I'm a very determined person.
And it begins... Wooot email flood.

Piotr Tataru |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Good luck Mort!

GM Mort |

Oh dear. Her hat is heavier then I expected and I'm bringing my laptop home in attempt to get the work done =(

Garrosh Saurfang |

Ouch! Fortunately it should be over in a few days?

GM Mort |

I doubt it. New person likely will take some time to learn the ropes, and also how much we want to trust her with everything yet...

GM Mort |

And I haven't been very good with food lately. As in succumbing to temptations. Please don't put apple pies in the fridge, guys! I still have a sweet tooth ><
Or at least finish your pies faster else I'll feel bad they'll get thrown away and eat them up...

GM Mort |

Actually I'm pretty good at not eating unhealthy stuff but if you're going to waste something that's tasty just because no one ate it, geee, that's criminal. And that's where I start noming unhealthy stuff =(

Piotr Tataru |

Stress = ice cream or cake or big meat and cheese covered sandwich or way too much coffee or...
sorry babbling. Apple pie is a good choice too.

GM Mort |

Yeah anything with sugar makes you feel happy ><
I probably won't gain weight per se(too much activity for that) but I'm not going to get any body shape related stuff done either...
Yesterday I did get to do a chekhov skill thing. Basically electricians were trying to fix the light but lacked a holder. So it was almost time to skip off to the gym during our lunch break, my colleague was thinking we'd have to skip the gym class, I told her, let me change into my running shoes. Undignified as heck, but I made the run to hardware shop and back(while in a dress but wearing track shoes) with the holder in 12 min, covering a total distance of 2 km.
You did ask someone who runs 5k during weekends to get the holder in a hurry didn't you?
And we did make it in time for gym class ^^

Kilarra Dimir |

I've never seen such things, but I would try one.

Garrosh Saurfang |

Do they float? :D

GM Mort |

My BF asked the question and when I considered it, I told him if they weren't stuffed they would have but since they are, they'd sink. Zucchini has lower density then water but not while loaded with pork, red peppers and mushrooms. Then he called them zucchini sinks.

Sorry guys, busy day at work. How am I supposed to get things done when I have to sit in a meeting(that isn't technically my job scope), take and clean up notes, and do other stuff as well?
*Pulls out fur*
And yeah I was so busy with work that I forgot about my promise to a paizonite to bring him and his friend who are currently in Singapore visiting, to the treetop walk when I was reminded this morning so I took emergency half day leave and did the tourist guide thing.
The girl was carrying a 4.5 kg sling bag to a nature walk >< I told him to be a gentleman and help her carry her bag(I suspected it would cause her trouble later), but she insisted she could manage. Turns out she couldn't and after we reached the treetop walk, we had to turn back and head towards the nearest exit instead of completing the whole reservoir trail.
Hey, even I know better then to bring 4.5 kg of non essentials to a hike. The weight starts to add up as you go along.
They said they were going hiking in UK. I told them FFS travel light next time.
No, it's no laughing matter to go in the middle of nowhere out in the jungle then run out of stamina and can't continue further.
I'm a bit too small to be carrying people out.

GM Mort |

My apprentice is coming along nicely... So hopefully next week will be less hectic. I've been leaving her to do stuff while watching her do it and pointing minor things out here and there.
Soon it'll be time for us to take over the world!
The bad news though is because I've been keeping an eye on her doing stuff, I'm falling behind with my own stuff. Ah well, the faster she gets trained, the faster I can get back to my own stuff.

Garrosh Saurfang |

Mort! You haven't been neglecting your training, right?! :D

Piotr Tataru |

Good choice. I used to love pinky and the brain!

Garrosh Saurfang |

How was it Mort? :D

GM Mort |

Fun but tiring as fk. Just for the record:
I ran 3.8km in the morning while carrying a sling bag with 300ml of water and an umbrella.
Then I went to the gym and lifted weights for 1 hour.
Then because I am a cheapskate, I decided not to take the monorail(It costs $4!!) to sentosa, and walked across the broadwalk all the way to the AIA glow festival.
After that, because I can't sit still for very long, I saw a couple of classes doing yoga(I am not allowed in since I didn't pay for the yoga pass), so I followed them doing vinyasa yoga for 1.5h, from outside the class venue. Hey, monkey see, monkey do, right? Then get another monkey to take photos =P
They're waaaay more advanced on their yoga journey then I am, I'm a slack@ss yoga student, and they're doing binding and splits like free =P Even though yoga is supposed to be done barefoot, in the end I opted for shoes since doing yoga on fake carpet grass under the afternoon sun without a yoga mat is really hot on your feet.
So after yoga it was the run. Timing was 26:44 when I self timed using fitbit, but distance was only 4.07k according to fitbit. Even though technically it was supposed to be 5k run. I am not sure if it was fitbit not very accurate. GPS tracking was off since I didn't feel like carrying my hand phone through a run of unfamiliar area. It was harder then the usual park runs I do, but again it was afternoon and I didn't do it with a full tank so to speak. Also more gradient. I am so glad I made myself run on trails, run uphill for training before the charity run. (Yeah, I was fairly harsh on myself on the training part, like making myself run up Mount Faber at noon)
Some people were having trouble when it was uphill. I could do uphill, just needed to slow down. And got a fancy medal =)
I am glad I did not sign up for the 10k Meji run - because I doubt I'd be making any decent timings, even if I could complete it. Doing the 5k in the afternoon was tougher in terms of effort then I thought, even though I have technically trained shorter runs under those conditions. And I've now got a 10k Shape run in august, so I really should step up my run training.
On hindsight I probably shouldn't have packed that much activity into a single day - but I was a bit too confident in my abilities(since I know I can run 10k - which is greater then the 5k required), but no real harm done since the aim was just completing the 5k.
Then I soaked in the music festival abit, and walked back to harbourfront station via the broadwalk since the monorail was full. Way to go, Mort. Clocked like 36k steps that day.
I was really knackered at the end of the day though. Probably just running on caffeine from green tea.

Garrosh Saurfang |

Wohooo!! Medals ftw! :D
But I gotta say though Mort... WOW! I am completely flabbergasted about your day. I don't know how you are able to pack so many activities - guess it is all a matter of organization and setting your mind to it. I REALLY should do that more (yeah, I have kids, but that is no excuse).
I know nothing about running times to pipe in if yours were good or bad, but just the fact you 3.8clicks + 1 hour weightlifting + another 4-5 clicks + all the walking around and yoga. Damn! BIG congrats on that one!
----
On a side note, I wanted to let you guys in on my upcoming schedule and some changes which will most likely impact my availability in game.
From the 3rd June I am starting a new job, and one with more responsibility than my latest ones - next week I will be starting the handover (Mon-Wed) in the mornings. This shouldn't impact my gaming much, but when work starts it most definitely will (I am hoping to get myself organized to post once in the am, and once in the evening, as even though I will most likely still have a PC in front of me most of the day, I am not sure how available I will be to post. And I want to focus strongly on this job opportunity).
Then, from the 15th June I have three (or four) weeks of vacations - WOHOOOOO!!!! So there's that also :D
Bottom line, from the next week until the... 15th of July or something along those lines, this will be a bumpy ride. I will keep you up to date on whether I will be able to keep up, etc. I'm not leaving though ;)

GM Mort |

Heh. My endurance is...not exactly normal now, and I know it. When I go and exercise in groups, people would be taking water breaks etc, for me I'll be like, uh...what break? Don't really need one...I'd do back to back gym classes lol (that's about 2 h of gym classes btw).
But yeah it was definitely a tiring day. More endurance then normal doesn't mean its endless, afterall...
Timings...well it's decent if you count it as a 5k, though those who are really good will get it under 25 min (I still have quite some way to go). At least it got me to the food shops ahead of most people ;) Because they were still slowly trickling in after the run.
After I tried the Veggie Mandus and found them good(had to wait 10 min for them for cooking times), wanted to buy the next batch and found the queue super long.
And about packing so many things in a day, it might not have been wise to do so, but hell, you live only once ;) Also the trick to packing more things in your day, is to bring cashew nuts, shortbread fingers and Pork Floss Sticks for lunch. You save time queuing as you can eat on the go. I bring portable rations everytime I'm in a hurry for some festival or something. I know also I can accelerate traveling (walking) times by jogging - it will cut the time by half. But I didn't do it yesterday because I knew I was going to run 5k later, didn't want to overdo it, besides it wasn't as if I was running late or something.
Are you going to take a break from when you start one job to another? Sometimes people do that(like that colleague of mine, she's now on vacation before she starts her new job), but it seems like you didn't?
Good for you telling us, so we know, but I don't think I'm going to be like superbly active anyway.

Garrosh Saurfang |

Yeah, I've been already taking that break. Even though I had a sh%& ton of stuff to take care of, I have been off during this past week. Will also be 'off' next week, even if the handover will begin from the previous person occupying the position (only Mon-Wed mornings though).
