is the runner dead or is he still alive?

Male Elf Cleric 2

He's dead Cael. Lance's shot was enough to put him down.

"Take it easy, Slice. Rest now, we almost lost you."

Darnail will eye the approaching townsfolk, trying to pick out in advance anyone of note among them.

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Germon regards Slice. "It was a tough fight but we made it through. I am curious though, what made you decide to stay behind when the rest of us were set to leave?" Germon waits hoping to understand Slice better by his explanation.

"I was only there a minute, and as soon as I noticed it, I mentioned that I didn't want enemies behind us". "Next thing I knew everyone was gone...then Loggarth came back in...and...well you know the rest"., The Slice says rubbing his neck.

Not going to beat a dead horse, but everyone was several minutes ahead of me in game time before I got to act. When I got the chance to post, I did what The Slice would have done before leaving. Just happens

Male Elf Cleric 2

It's fine man, we were just getting the characters up to date on events here, not beating the horse. poor horse.

Darnail will glance back at everyone and back at the approaching villagers. Ah, Light blast it all, he thinks then unslings the wrapped sword.

"Cael, Slice, Logarth, Germon. This is the sword of Starkweather John. Lance and I found it just a minute before the mill exploded. Pass it around yourselves and see if it reacts to any of you. Take it out of the wrappings and sheath if you must. I'll deal with this....angry mob."

Having said that, Darnail will pass the bundle to the closest of the four of them, straighten up and square his shoulders, and take several steps away from the group to meet(head off) the arriving villagers. He will stand turned slightly enough so that he can keep the others in his field of vision in case any of them handling the blade get a visible reaction.

Darnail will adress the first arrivals with an outstretched hand indicating stop, and a tired tone in his voice.

"At ease, good sirs. There is no longer a danger here."

i am assuming the mill is isolated and will not turn into some city engulfing inferno. if that does seem to be a danger, please amend my calm statement into frantically running around like a chicken with no head and throwing create water everywhere.

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

I understand he was put down, i just want to know if hes dead, dead, or if healing will stabilize him.

Cael shrugs his shoulders and then grabs the sword that was hidden in the mill.

sorry my post will be rather short for a couple weeks. my computer stopped working so this is all annoyingly done from my iPhone and I will not get a replacement till after the 10th of September. Also, I will be on vacation starting the 23rd of August. I will post but it will be sparse

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

Cael: Thanks for letting us know. I will NPC you as needed if that is ok? You do not feel anything special when you grab the sword.

Darnail: The mill is separate from the village which is good. Plus all the rain has left conditions that aren't favorable for the spreading of fire. You see the mayor and sheriff and several other members of the community that you don't recognize coming.

Germon: When the sword is passed to you, you feel the most wonderful feeling of satisfaction in your life. It is as if you had just had the most wonderful meal, coupled with a great night's sleep, coupled with the best sex you have ever had. It feels as if you have regained a part of yourself that you never knew was missing. In addition you hear a voice say Wow! 1000 years will give you such a crick in the neck! Hey have you heard this one?!? An elf a human and a dwarf each get a beer, a fly lands in each one, the elf pushes the beer away in disdain, the human flicks the fly out and drinks the beer, the dwarf grabs the fly by the wings and holds it over the glass screaming “spit it out you little bastard! Spit it out!”

In addition, the sword is perfectly balanced for you and feels as if it was forged to fit your specific hand. The blade is shimmering white and silver metal that has whorls and spirals throughout the blade. This is what the sword looks like, it is the second from the right. Called the White Serpent

Male Human - Saves (STR +1, DEX +6, CON +2, INT+5, CHA +3) INIT: +7 (Rakish Audacity) Rouge / 3 (Swashbuckler), Passive Perception 11, AC 15, HP 24/24, HD 3/3: SPD 30, (Common, Dwarvish, Elvish, Orc, Thieves Cant

The Slice starting to recover a bit, passes on the sword. "Too big and slow for my liking". "I'll just stick to my wee blades". His voice has changed now, and is very rough and raspy. It seems to hurt him to talk. He does make a point of seeking out Logarth, to thank him for sticking around when he noticed that the Slice hadn't joined them. "Sorry I couldn't help a little more". "They pin-cushioned me before I had a chance to do much". "I won't forget that you came back for me". He then sits on the ground, still feeling very weak, and begins to sharpen and clean his blades.

I noticed there is a new "Knife Master" Archtype in Ultimate combat which might suit The Slice. If you get a chance to check it out let me know".

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

Eh, it's a puny blade anyways. Germon if you need to learn a blade with some weight behind it let me know.

Is everyone's health okay?

After being healed for 20 points, The Slice is thankfully down only 5 points. He is grateful, and humbled by his close brush with death

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Not sure Germon would know exactly what the best sex is as he has never even experienced any lol. I get the idea. What kind of sword is it?

Germon holds the sword tightly in his hand. A strange smile creeps across his face as stares at it. "Amazing! I have never felt such an intense vigor like this before. Absolutely astounding!" He then begins to go through a few sword routines testing the feel of it. "Excellent! This sword definitely rivals my families sword for sure. It is a really hard trade but it may be time to try something new." Germon looks to the others. "If no one else objects, I will take this sword. I feel as though it was meant for me. And it has a sense of humor too." Germon looks at Barrett. "Well boy, what do you think of our new friend?" Barrett cocks his head and then sniffs the sword. He whimpers and Germon laughs. "Hah, fear not boy, This wont replace you. I will carry it, I feel it will be of great importance to us in the future." Germon will Sheath the sword and turn to the others. "My friends, it seems Slice has survived and is on the mend. Let us tend to the other matters at hand. The village must be warned of the underworld attackers and made ready." Germon will gesture to Lance and then to Cael. "I have heard we should evacuate the people. This will take much time and we will need a place for these good people to live once they have moved. I do not suspect we were called here to be baby sitters. Cael presumes we can simply fight out way out of the problem but this to is a bit much. I suspect we may have a few days to learn some details. I would have liked to try peace talks but for now, we need a failsafe. I say that we tell the sheriff what is going to happen and then brainstorm ideas. Maybe we can find a way to do battle without fighting up front. Or there may be another solution, we just need to think and ask the right people. Now, are there any other ideas. Darnail, what is your take on the situation concerning the dark folk?"

Really long text I know. I watched Lord of the Rings today and got super inspired! Expect more posting from me in the future as I am going to drive this thing all the way. Ah I love a good second wind don't you?

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

Germon: The sword is currently a +1 Bastard Sword. In addition, it may have more powers as yet undiscovered.

Male Human Gunslinger, 1

”The village be already warned of under dark scum. We warned ‘em. If ye think talking to the sheriff be useful too, that be well and good, stopping by him a piece quick may be help, though I doubt he be more useful then the priest of this place, who we done talked to already,”I said stabbing a blunt thumb to Darnail when I said “we”.

”They know to evacuate, or at least, they should be knowing that already. Ye missed a heap of news, no mistake, hanging back ‘round here. Short answer is this; these people need to be leaving. If that letter we found in the caves below be worth a damn in any way, then be right worthwhile of ye to be considering that a bunch of swabs like us aren’t going to dissuade an army from attacking. But ye got to be thinking on tactics, anyhow. Ye think that an army of them below marching up all the way here, then after some friendly words change their mind? Ye don’t get an army together; weapons, armor, food, supplies, gear and so forth without planning and ye don’t sacrifice all that planning on an invasion fer nothing but some talk.”

”And if they be coming up here, ye think that they do it over a bloody hole in the ground like that there town; the same one that couldn’t scrape enough coin together to ransom ye back? Bah! They be coming fer a purpose, and that purpose be something bold and daring. I’d bet pile of gold against a chipped farthing that it be something big; mayhap the whole bloody island! That kind of thing needs being made warned. We ought to be moving on fast, riding to the capital of this place and getting the army of these people together and riled up, so they can come together and do something practical like.”

”Ye want to have words, that be fine… but consider having the words with another army to back ye; that be better! I say we tell the folk here as we go what’s going on, if they don’t already know. I say we tell them to grab what they can and stab for the capital of the berg, if they are good an able. I say we ride on ahead fast and intense, and let them know at the capital that an army be coming, because we know that to be the case. These people need help, and they have limited time. That letter gave a date on invasion, and that invasion be a ten-day from now. We need speed and action, not words,”I said, looking at Germon.

I am not saying my words sarcastically or in any way rudely. I am sincerely trying to get him to understand that we don’t have time to wait. And stopping the political machinations of an invading army is like getting a battleship to turn. It can’t be done quickly or easily.

”Oh, and as fer that sword… it be not fer us to object on ye having… It be made to knit to yer flesh, as told by word of ancient prophecy; the same words that bound us here from beyond the realms of the earth, and made us come through whatever magic or devilry. We be here of a purpose, to stand together… and that same purpose be giving ye the sword as yer’s to keep. Do right with it, then. But it be bound to ye, wither we reject that claim, or nay.”

Male Elf Cleric 2

"Concerning the dark folk. As Lance points out, you don't casually organize an army, or undertake major excavation if unexpected words will change things. I believe that no matter what we say, they Will come. Our actions should focus on convincing these townsfolk of their danger, and moving them to safety. Passing a warning on to other communities in the region, and whatever settlement or location would be the most defensable. I also can't shake the feeling that time is more critical then we'd believe. Our arrival here coincides strangely with this incursion. I can't help but suspect there is a connection. It has been...generations of your people since the last incursion from the underdark. It was not a good time for any involved."

"Well spoken, indeed..."I say.

"Right, so let's tell these townies to grab their gear and move... Meantime, we should stab out and rustle up some reinforcements, or as be said, a better defended position. And on that count... what do anyone think on why we be here... or what magicked us here? And to what purpose? We best find out that soon, as we're in it now, eh?"

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Germon listens to Lance intently and after Darial affirms that Lance is right Germon sighs. "Okay if I am understanding this right you have already told the people to evactuate. Where are they going go, where is the capital, what kingdom is this, what army does this kingdom have and what are the odds this kingdom has the strength to fight off this "enemy". I have not been very active in information gathering like the to of you so I am a little in the dark on everything regarding this land." Germon waits for an answer.

Still speaking softly and with his new raspy voice The Slice chimes in on the conversation.

If the rulers of this place are like everywhere else I've gone, they probably won't believe us without some real evidence anyway". "I mean, a bunch of strangers from who knows where just come waltzing in suggesting we mobilize an army and evacuate our homes". "I'd tell you to sod off". "I think we need to find more evidence".

The Slice then rubs his throat as if it would help ease the pain.

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

As soon as Slice finishes the villagers get to you. There are several that you have met and a couple that you have not. You see the good priest who seems pleased not at the exploding mill but at the body at your feet. The mayor is there as well as the sheriff. There are a few villagers and one surprising newcomer, a full blooded elf. Darnail you immediately recognize her as wearing the robes of an apprentice mage of the court in Shallenoi, the ancestral elven homeland that non-elves are forbidden from. She has long black hair and beautiful features, she also has what looks like a smudge of ink on her nose and peers at you all with an expression of rapt admiration. Her gaze lingering on the humans and pulling back in shock at Logarth.

The Mayor steps forward and says By the gods! What in the blazes happened?!?

Seeing the young lady, I tip my hat at her.

"Ma'am,"I say with a nod. Meanwhile, I move adroitly through the crowd to the priest, and speak to him directly.

"Well, padre, looks like justice found them faster then ye'd think. Meantime, what now? Ye spreading the word on getting out o' here, or no? I reckon the massive tunneling under the foundations of this berg ain't be something yer miners be doing; stands to reason it be done by something bigger, and more nasty then the folk in this town. If ye don't believe us, ye can see it fer yerself. But as fer that 'splosion, I don't know what's happened there. I was talking to ye, as ye recall. But I'd just assume be off; any word on when that may be?"

Thinking on Germon's word, I add...

"Ye got a map o' this island? Where be the next town over, and whatever passes for a captial on this place? I'd be obliged to get a copy, if ye got one."

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

The Mayor looks extremely agitated at the moment and says Yes the good Father mentioned some such about an army coming up from underground. I do not doubt his word but is there any proof of such? It will be much easier to convince the town to leave if we have hard evidence. All due respect and thanks for finding them boys but you all are strangers here.

As the elven woman gets closer you see that woman is barely apt as she looks to be just a slip of a girl. You would be surprised if she is 5 years past her Alieaninathen, or age day, which would make her being here on this island EXTREMELY unusual. Darnail and Lance you know that typically a household does not let their children out on their own before at least 20 years have past their age day.

Cool, well, I fully intend to deal with the girl in a moment, but for now, I am simply waiting on the priest's reaction. Please let me know what that is, so I can make my next move. When I know more, you'll know more.

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Germon watches as the newcomers approach. Germon watches. He bows knightly towards the elven maiden. He them approaches the mayor. Germon pulls out the documents he recovered from the mines. "These document the details of the invasion armies plans to invade. The question is, if your right and were wrong, nothing but some time is lost. The other side is that if we are right and you are wrong, where does that leave you guys?"

I am in my friends wedding, posting will be spotty today and tomorrow.

Male Elf Cleric 2

Darnail will give the young lady an intent, considering look as he becomes aware of her, but will stand tall and straight to address the mayor while speaking loud enough for any others to hear as well.

"Good Sir. My apologies to trouble you and the other townsfolk here. As you may or may not know, while looking for the two missing children we discovered the body of a saragosian tax collector down in the mine. His throat had been cut and it was obviously a result of foul play. The owner of this mill and his three friends had tried to bully us away from the mine itself, saying both that they had searched it already, and that there was nothing to find inside."

"This behavior being contradictory to what was found cast a light of suspicion upon them. After consulting with the Father here, we came to this mill to ask questions if possible, or find more information. Inside, we found a chest with the symbol of saragost on it and a shattered lock, the final proof of this crime."

"Realising their number was up, the four of them had set boobytraps and tried to waylay several of my companions when we split up to bring the final proof to everyone's attention."

Darnail will pause here, and give the Mayor a pained look with sympathy.

I understand that you have a blood tie to one of these men. I am sorry for your loss, just as i am also sorry for the loss of their lives. There has been enough death already, yet more looms on the horizon like a dark cloud. At your convenience you may examine both the tax collector's body at the town cemetery, and the tax chest in the care of the Father at the church."

"All of this pales however, with the news you have already tried to casually brush off. Your town itself is in Danger. At the very bottom of the mine, something has tunneled up and reached the surface. There is a large cavern that can and will be used for the staged deployment of an Army. We have seen this with our own eyes. We have written proof that this is going to happen."

Darnail will stride over to Germon and retrieve the papers found below (assuming he doesn't resist) and thrust them into the mayor's face.

"You all are in danger. Everyone nearby is in danger. You need to gather your belongings and begin travelling to a place of safety or you Will be wiped out. Do not let pride or stubborness cost any more lives then it has already, i beg of you."

So, is there any chance of hearing what the priest has to say, or should I just move back to Darnail, then? Don't mean to be pushy, but this is the third time I'm asking, and I haven't heard anything.

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

I'm working on that but part of that will be determined by the rolls. I haven't forgotten about your statements to him.

Male Elf Cleric 2

somehow i missed germon handing the papers over in his post, sorry man! consider my reference to getting them from you redacted!

Diplomacy roll.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Germon will attempt to be diplomatic as well.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

WOW! I am smooth like Keith Stone! Growl!

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

The mayor harumphs loudly and looks over the papers. It is obvious he cannot read them as they are in undercommon but he makes a show of being able to do such. Well...um...these look to be in order then. I will announce the evacuation at once. We must move with all speed to Saragost. If you will excuse me I will go see to getting everyone moving.

Father Bronson snorts at the mayor's posturing before saying You did good boys...you did a fine service for Bronce by gettin rid o'dem scoundrels and I thank ye. As fer the next town, that be Lichgate. It's about a days ride south o'here. If'n ye be going that way might I ask ya'll to send word o'what be happening and send everyone towards Saragost. That be the capital down at t'other end o'the island. I think I have an old map back at the church that I'd be happy to give you. He waits a bit for the villagers to move on to their tasks before saying I thought y'all might be wanting to meet this here lass seeing as she came in apparently the same way y'all did o'er at the Tump in them there stones.

The elven girl pipes up and says Yes wasn't that just amazing! One minute I was asleep in Shallenoi and the next I woke up in a circle of standing stones with constellations on them. One of which looks exactly like my birthmark! Isn't that fascinating?!? The girl has a very sing songy tenor to her voice and she seems to be genuinely excited to meet you all. Oh my! Where are my manners? She gives a low bow to all of you but especially to Darnail, she murmers ElvenYour eminence./Elven. My name is Saradel Starflower of Thilanianetharentia in Shallenoi. It is an absolute pleasure to make all of your acquaintance.

It is also a this point that you notice in the folds of her robes a small furry creature that pokes its head out and looks at you with sleepy eyes. It is a tiny white faced monkey that looks to be wearing spectacles and is reading a small leather bound book.

In addition to her robes she has a longsword strapped to her hip and a longbow and quiver poking up over her shoulder through a hole in her cloak. Around her belt you see an array of small vials and bottles in little holders. You can see that there seem to be several different colored liquids inside them.

We named the monkey, Jack.

Darnail will blink in surprise, obviously not expecting this. Regardless he will return her a slight bow and a brief smile as etiquette is important.

"The Tump you say? Standing Stones and constellations also? It sounds indeed like you may be tied in with things as well. If my companions do not object, i think it would behoove you to travel with us as we move ahead to spread the warnings to the neighboring places en route to Saragost."

"Father, are there any horses the town could spare to speed our steps? If not we should make haste on our own. Also, if you would, make sure Mother Bailey does not fall behind. She is a bit bristly, but that is not to be held against her."

"Lance? As a seasoned captain, i trust your judgement, could you acquire enough provisions for the group of us.."

Here Darnail will give the young lady another look before turning his attention back.

"For the group of us plus one extra to make the journey on this map to Saragost? I have some coin if your funds are depleted at the moment. What say you all friends? Anything else come to mind needing done before we set off?"

Darnail is looking tired from the long series of events today, but seems more than willing to shoulder on.

I watch this female with some suspicion and my thoughts range over the possibilities of what this may mean.

If we are all drawn to the stones at the same time from all over the world, through great magic... to me, this suggests a power beyond the lot of mortals that prompted us together in a supernatural, nay divine lure; the same lure that brought us all to the same place and time.

Further, it was through great magic that we were brought to this place to do some epic deed, no doubt. If that is true, if it was through the intervention of the Cosmos or the gods themselves, that begs a very steep question on our new "friend"... Namely: how did the entire collective cosmic force of the universe which drew I, and all my companions, through time and space to unite at a specific point and place to (no doubt) fulfill some high and lonely destiny... how did this force fail to round up the full crew compliment in a timely fashion?

Perhaps, then, this female was more then she let on. A demon in disguise, or a monster who is sent here to disuade us from completing our goal? An enemy of the gods who is bent on distracting us from our true purpose, or something more foul, no doubt.

Hmm....

Then again, it could simply be a coincidence.

I take a moment to look the female over.

"Ma'am,"I say, tipping my hat again, then moving over to Darnail. "Ye want me to rustle up some grub fer us, I'll see what I can be doing... but keep yer coin fer now; I'll see what I can do in the meantime by reminding people that if they don't want to help us, then we ain't getting the job done right and true."

I walk off to find the father of the local church, and ask him for some basic rations so we can move ahead to the next town. I don't suspect this request is any problem for him; after all, if we don't get some help from the town we won't be able to do our duty and move on to help the people on this island from a potential invasion. If the father, or any other townspeople, aren't forthcomming in giving us minimal aid to get to the next town and warn them on the way to the capital to warn their leadership, then it's likely clear that the people aren't interested in doing anything to help themselves from preventing the invasion.

"Ye need anything to drink, lad... ye look downright wiped out, brother,"I add to Darnail.

"Hey, anyone know where Logarth is?"

Real quick question: What DOES happen to Logarth now?

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Germon approaches Lance, Darnail, and the new elven woman. He speaks quickly to Darnail and Lance. "It seems we've managed to convince the town to act. I now vote we move quickly to the nations "capital" and inform whatever king they may have of the coming invasion. I feel as though we were brought here for this purpose."

He turns to the elven women next. "If I understand correctly, you will be joining us in this grand ordained quest we have been summoned for. This being the case, I humbly welcome you to our fellowship. My name is Germon Falleyas, what is yours?"

I am Saradel Starflower and it is a pleasure to meet you. When she sees your dog she almost squeals and says What a beautiful dog! What's his name? Can I pet him? I just love animals. Mr. Mephisto come meet your new friend! The monkey peeks its head out again, looks at the dog with something akin to disdain before going back to its book.

The elven girl opens a pouch and pulls a small bit of dried meat from it. Saying Here you go pretty puppy! Here you go.

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Barrett lets out a happy bark and hops around excitedly at the attention he is receiving from the elf maiden. Germon smiles at the display he pets Barrett on the head. "Easy boy, I know she's pretty but you don't want to scare her do you?' Barrett calms down a bit but is still waging his tail and panting excitably. Germon turns back to Saradel. 'This my lovely lady is my stalwart companion Barrett. He has been my friend longer than anyone alive. He was the only one with me when I was exiled few years ago. He has beem a good friend. I see you too have a fine furry friend as well. I hope the two of them will get along well."

When Saradel hands Barrett the meat, the dog happliy scarfs it down. Germon laughs. "Take it easy there boy, try and enjoy the flavor a little. Bah whatever. You seem happy enough. Looks like you took a nasty injury in there. Thank goodness for Darnail's healing abilities."

Germon looks back at Saradel. "Thanks for that. I look forward to working together."

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

It's been 11 days since his last post anywhere. Something had to have happened. I am going to put up a recruitment thread to see if I can get someone in. If he comes back that's fine we will just have another party member. If not then his replacement will be in place.

Seeing the actions of the elven female, I nod my head sagely.

Ah the grand, austere, nobility of the ancient elven people. How aptly demonstrated with her quiet dignity. I muse to myself.

I look toward the father; I am hoping he is eager to help us, or at least, willing ot answer us. So far, I sense that he is no doubt focued on some deep mysteries. He has yet to inform us if we are able to get some very basic rations to travel with, and perhaps horses, so that we could get on faster. We'll need them, if we're to reach their capital quicker and so warn the leaders of this island of what is comming.

his last post indicated some RL bad things going on. I'd like to keep his spot open for him if at all possible unless he says he's dropping, but am also ok with seeking another addition as well based on the above reasoning.

The Slice simply listens to the conversation going on, and wonders about the presence of Logarth. He is reflecting on how much he values life, now that he almost lost it.

DM

Spoiler:
I enjoy roleplaying disadvantages and flaws almost as much as heroic stuff. I'm thinking with The Slices close encounter with death (Well he would be dead except for DM kindness :-)) That maybe The Slices spellcasting might be affected by his cut throat. Maybe he rolls a d20 when he cast a spell with verbal components. If it comes up a one the spell fumbles and is lost. If it comes up a 20 maybe the Save DC is increased by one or something similar due to the strange power of his warped castings. Let me know if this is something you're interested in. If not it's not a big deal, just a little character individualization.

Slice I like it I actually have critical hit and fumble decks that have spell fumbles and crits in them. What I will do is draw a card when either of those things happens and add that effect to the posting. What do you think?

Father Bronson responds with a grin after seeing the interaction with the girl and the dog, Rations I can get ye but horses may be harder to come by. I'll see what I can do but I canna make any promises on that regard, people are going to want to take what they can. I can give you my horse as a start but I'm not sure how much good one horse will do for you. I have a little bit of pull so I may be able to get you a few plow horses but like I said, I'm not sure. Give me an hour and I'll see what I can do. Father Bronson heads off at a trot at this point to get your map, rations and to see if he can get you some horses.

In the meantime what do you guys do?

Now we need horses?,when I was building my character, why was I denied a horse again?

Germon bows to the father "Thank you sir, whatever you can manage would be appreciated." Germon then pets Barrett on the head and looks to the group.

As for Logarth, I am willing to accept whatever you guys decide. I have no opinion.

Because the divine being that expended the energy to bring you here decided that bringing your mutt was enough. ;-) I could have let you spend the money and then not bring it but I didn't think that would be fair.

"it seems we have a short breather before things move apace." Darnail will say aloud, more musing to himself than anyone in particular.

Darnail will look around and take in the actions of everyone else. He will then remove his armor, and pack it away. Once his gear is gathered for travel, he will sit crosslegged against the wall of the closest building and close his eyes, resting as best he can before the traveling ahead. He will greet anyone who comes near him, however, and reply to conversation.

With Bronson on the way to get something done, I roll up another cigarette and light up, watching my companions and the new "friend" who has suddenly been thrust in our lives.

I wonder how her presence in this place has escaped the town's notice for so long, as surely a gregarious and "wild-eyed" elf living in the vicinity of such a small town would most likely have drawn someone's attention.

As we have at least an hour for Father Bronson to return with some basic gear and other items from the town, I wonder about that; too. Why even bother wasting time waiting for people to haggle over the cost of a horse when an army is on the way? I should really just go ahead and take the horses, and hand them off to the others so that we may ride ahead quicker.

If the townsfolk don't like that; they can bill me.

But I also recognize the futility in such actions. I have a strong suspicion that my companions will be opposed to such an action for whatever reason. I am disapointed in the lack of Logarth's cheerful presence, and wonder what has become of him.

With little to do, I wadner over to the others and stand around and listen to their conversation. Normally, I would be somewhat intimidated and in awe of a child of the Eldar race that is mingling with mere humans... but I am still uncertain of her bloodline. Unless...

Of course!

It is likely this girl is mad... and that changes things tremendously. It is said that insane people often are given special considerations... that their palsy is an affliction of the gods themselves, but must be treated with gentleness and open tenderness. So, too, shall I resolve to treat this one; clearly insane, with all the outward tenderness and kindness that I can manage.

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

Cael finally comes back from the mill carrying the body of the attacker and laying it down outside of view of the gathered townsfolk. He then lumbers into the horde of people and sees the young elven girl.

elven:
My lady, it seems that I was left out of all the rush. My name is Cael. I am one of the princes of the Gael's. Did I hear right and that someone as young as yourself are taking the quest to protect these lands from the Bean Sidhe?

And let us not forget our young friend, he too wishes to save the world as he gestures to his side to someone who would be about a head taller than a full grown halfling. As for food, I can hunt and teach those who cannot. We will be fine for food and shelter. Though horses would be nice.

@Germon: That sword looks nice on you.

When all these slight people gathering around his massive form, increasingly shrinking his bubble. Cael roars, EVERYBODY MOVE! and wades away from the crowds.

The elven maid looks about to reply to your kind words Cael but when she opens her mouth and you bellow out for everyone to move, it startles her into silence.

Elven:
Umm...a pleasure to meet you noble warrior.

@Lance: Forgive me good sir but is that the garb of one of the members of the Charter Houses of Xoth Sarandi? I wrote a short paper on the benefits of such places within the empire. It seems to foster harmonious dealings with men such as yourself. Did you find the training hard? I have heard that the rates of attrition are quite high. You must be a very strong sailor and man to be able to complete it. How big of an advantage did you find holding the weather gage to be in fighting on the line? I have read that battles can be won or lost solely on who holds it. She looks at you with rapt attention. She genuinely looks interested. You are not sure if she is really interested in nautical tactics or just interested in all knowledge as a whole.
