Male Elf Cleric 2

Darnail will listen to Lance's words and recap, obviously interested by the inscription found on the Tomb. As to Lance's questions, he will think to himself for several long second before replying. He will start to reply in Elvish, but he will belatedly realize that they have been chatting for several minutes and only one other can understand them, so when the others start talking of Inns and beer, he will change to Common speech..

"There are a great many unknowns surrounding us. It is obvious we are here for something, but we do not know what is or is not connected to what in the great scheme of things. Our backgrounds are vastly diverse and none of us know each other previously. I believe our gathering is for a purpose, though one i am unsure of yet. That said, if it is indeed fate that brings us here, fate would no doubt wish us to do what we feel needs to be done as well.

A restless ghost, murdured? That itself smacks of conspiracy. It is hard to believe something like that is not connected to this chain of events. Why was this sword we seek 'left' in this area? Mayhap its former owner viewed the region as his fief, and would only release it to us should we right the wrongs he no longer can? For myself, i have to weigh what we see and learn with my own Teachings and Brith's Way. We need to pursue our course, but do so in a way that we can hold our heads high and accept if not embrace the choices we have or have to make.

I think that speaking to the priest of this inscription would be a good idea. He is at this moment attending to the two bodies we placed on his doorstep. He also has a vested interest in the health of this community and has his concerns about the taxman's death. While i myself do not need to look at it this way, he will most likely be even more helpful or interested in aiding us in our search should we deal with this matter.

I understand that all of us see the world differently. This...this matter here is something i feel... strongly about. Even were i summoned to appear to my church, i would accept the reprimand of delay if it meant i could put this poor soul to rest. If any of you had this fate befall you, you can be assured i would do whatever was needed for you as well."

Darnail will trail off at that point, realizing he had said a great deal and seeming a bit uneasy or unsure. He will look around at everyone, giving them a chance to speak.

Male Human Gunslinger, 1

"Ye be right, lad. It'd not be fair to do deeds on something without tending to the matter of hand; we can't leave the boddies like carrion, nor the children rot in the mines... so we looked after them right and true. As fer ye and yer words? They speak to the heart of the matter... we got a big job to do, but we can't go neglecting the little one's on the way... ain't right."

Lance rubs his chin a moment.

"But I be disagreeing with ye on one point; we all got's something alike in this venture. We got's birthmarks on our flesh that match the carving on the self same rocks we done magicked into... that can't be no bloody coincidence no how! I say's we needs be looking into that point when we go to see yer priest ye mentioned... Fer myself, I don't need a poxing drink when there's work to be doing; drinking and whoring be after the job's finished. I'd say we go back to the priest, or out to this bastard who done sent the lads into the mines... String him up right propper, if I may say so..."he adds the last flatly, speaking of this scoundrel everyone is seemingly afraid of.

Logarth looks at the others suprized at the sudden appearance of common speech. Logarth looks to the Tavern then to Cael, and finally back to the others."Gah, you be right. This priest chap may know a thing or two and then I vote that we give that smilin' bloak broken teeth as to smile with if you catch my drift."
Then looking back to Cael,"What say you Master Cael? Care to postpone those drinks for a few more minutes and in return add an extra drink onto that promise I do be owin' you?"

Male Elf Cleric 2

"True regarding the symbols, Yet we have not found a common tie for those as well. The sawmill then, is my advised suggestion. We need to find 'proof' and the priest seems to think that is the best place to find it."

Darnail is smiling a bit now, as if the replys of Lance and Logarth have reaffirmed something to himself.

Male Half-Orc Monk level 1

"If we be headin to this windmill then I say we best be quick about it. My fists have a date with Jim's face... Then we shall find any proof that is needed I am sure. Perhaps after we find this proof the priest can help us with our predicament."

"Then let's waste no time. If we shall hang this bastard on a noose, then the sooner the better that he knows justice. I'd see him dancing Dany Deever long before now; if I could do it... but we'll see what we see next,"Lance adds.

"Well, where be this bloody mill? I got a lust for making maggot holes in them scum... may as well make it sooner then later..."he adds, looking at the others presuming someone will know the way, as they've been talking about it long enough.

Male Half-Orc Monk level 1

"Let go!" Logarth bellows loud enough to startle those close.
Intimidate:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
He then begins to move at a quick pace out the south side of town before he stops.
"Errr...well it seems to me that I don't know the way. Perhaps another knows if not well maybe I can go ask the Tavernkeep?"
With the last a slight hopeful smile crosses his face.

He takes a moment to calm the rage building inside of him. Then retorts quite calmly, There was no failure at the caves, the boy lives on. Better to act than stand like a whelp getting his first woman. You stood doing nothing as a brother in battle was about to get killed, I acted to save our brother. Yes, he may have made a deal but that leader could have easily changed his mind when you went to collect money from a town who couldn't afford it anyways, even if he stuck to the deal whats to say they wouldnt do it again. That ransom would have destroyed the town. So I did what you didn't have the balls to do and made a choice. Now the mischevious child is happy, he gets to be part of a tale that any bard would be envious to write and tell.

When Lance turns back to Cael he smirks and says My take on the findings would be an even share on the equipment however if you keep talking to me like you cabin boy I'm likely to take your share as well. He pauses a moment at the barrage of questions. Uh what. slow down. I'm not some brothel mate your trying to get in bed. talk to me plainly. Wait...did you say beer. That is a fantastic idea!

I let the words of the barbarian's rambling speech settle on me. There is one dead boy on his account, and now the foul mouth lout offers petty nonsense to justify his actions?

"If ye killed the goblin-whore that held the boy faster, then maybe he'd live rather then died... And ye got no honor 'sides. Ye talk about "brother in battle" eh, after I blew the hell out of that mist creature before even knowing ye, we all backing each other. What that make us, if not the same "brother" you ramble on about? Brother, eh? Nay, not to ye, 'cause after that, in the bloody mines, when I didn't do as ye pleased ye laid hands on me. Once be enough, but I swallowed it fer the good of the lads... but now it be over and I still got to hear yer bloody mouth?"

I spit in his direction.

"Now get up off yer arse and try doing something productive like... like tracking down these scum that put the lads in the mess to begin with, instead of rambling on swilling beer..."I say flatly.

"We got work to do, not laying blame or listening to yer excuses."

assuming i was able to get a location from the priest since he wanted us to go there

Darnail will hold up his hands.

"Please, let us not fight among ourselves. We are in this together for the forseeable future. It woudl behove us to try to understand each other even if we disagree in ways initially. I believe the mill is yonder."

Darnail will point in the direction.

if the DM wishes to say we don't know, then i'll amend my direction accordingly and ask a townsfolk passerby politely.

I glance at Loagarth.

"Well, then, are ye ready to break them teeth ye be talking on?"I say grimly, to the half-orc, pulling out my pistol and looking out to where I assume the windmill is... or at least the approximation that Darnail indicated toward.

too much reading. I am so left behind. Germon doesn't matter much huh? Well I better start reading.

Not really... we just did social RP and now are taking your suggestion to go right to the windmill. It's all good...

Male Human Cavalier level 1

just ran a really long and productive RPG Session in real life. 8 hours of play. I'm tired and will post in the morning.

as lance said, was just social really. you haven't been left behind and are actually with the party! rest up, take your time to catch up on the reading in the morning, post when you are ready! no worry or stress!

Darnail will smile a bit more, and place a hand on lance's shoulder for a moment.

"The curtesy was not lost upon me, and to be frank the familiarity was a comfort when i found myself in this strange place surrounded by the unknown. There is no need to apologise."

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

Great job guys. I have a house to clean and so I will be out most of the morning I will post later on today. You guys know where the mill is you saw it when you first came into the village from the stone circle island.

Male Human Cavalier level 1

okay good to go. Man you guys love to talk a lot of nonsense don't you?

Germon listens to the conversation and agrees with the belief in there appearance here being a sign of great importance. "It is clear to me also that we have been chosen for some great destiny. My life before this day was frought with uncertainty and doubt. Now that I know there is a greater power at work, I am wound and ready. I believe I will keep doing what I feel is right and the path will be show. For now, we must head to the windmill for there is where our current path lies." Germon moves with a great deal of purpose in his step and Barrett follows.

As you get a closer look at the building you see that it seems to be fairly well maintained. It sits on a stone base and rises about 40' into the air. The wind sails are currently turning slowly in the breeze. There is a single door in the small home that is attached to the windmill.

A typical windmill tends to be fairly tall with floors inside to get to the "gears"... If this is a place of danger, is it possible that someone could have posted a watch? I wonder....

I'd like to make a "perception" check to see if we're being noticed at this time...

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

I will hang back and watch this place, seeking for any signs of trouble or movement before I go inside...

All of the curtains are closed over the windows, you do see one move slightly while you are looking at it but nothing else.

"Hmm... might be the wind... or not..."I say reaching into my pack and removing a scrap of paper and tobacco and rolling a crude cigareette... then lighting it up.

"Well, guess I'll be on me gaurd..."I add, but call out softly to Logarth.

"Mind the window, lad... saw a curtain there move... could be some be watching."

My weapon is now currently loose in my hand, but I have my cloak over the weapon to conceal it. Hopefully, if any bandit scum are lurking about, they won't notice the hidden weapon... and if they do? Well, it is likely they will not presume it to be one of range; yet we shall see.

Male Human Gunslinger, 1

Quick question: who came with us, and who stayed in town, if anyone did? Just curious to know who is where...

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Germon will simply look at the home and nod. "Well nothing for it but to approach and see what happens." Germon will then make his way to the door. He has his shield at the ready but his sword isn't drawn. He looks to Barrett. "Smell anything boy?

Barrett sniffs around :1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Germon will also keep his eyes peeled:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Even if Germon doesn't detect anyone he will attempt to knock.

The Slice would immediately circle around the place seeing if there are any other entrances, or exits surrounding the building. He is just completing his circuit when he hears a knock on the front door of the windmill.

Logarth nods to Lance and then motions with his head to Slice.

Perception:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Upon hearing the knock Logarth attempts to hide to one side of the door.

Male Human Gunslinger, 1

Being that I am farther back from the Windmill I will look for somethng to stand behind if shooting starts. Seeing a person literally knock on the door to a possible bandit lair, making a disturbance and decrying any form of stealth whatsoever, I yawn.

Eh... it's been done...

Is there anything I can get behind, a stone wall, shrubbery, what-have-you? Let me know, and we'll go from there.

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

Cael will approach with Germon. Earthbreaker in hand. Better to die in glorious battle than live a coward, as he doesn't even bother acknowledging Lance anymore.

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

There is no answer at the door and the door is locked in case you try it.

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Germon looks at the door with a slight annoyance. "It is locked. Germon turns to Cael. "Breaking and entering im some places is also a crime. In this case, I have very little patience for these fools. Cael my good friend, can you open this door?" Germon will step back and see if Cael can or will open the door.

Male Half-Orc Monk level 1

"Unless this fool is both blind and dumb seems like we have lost the element of surprise. I should like to possibly help him become both." Logarth says with a wide toothy grin.

"If he has the means to do so, i would be for it. I do not wish to cause unnecessary property damage."

Germon, Cael, and Slice please make reflex saves. An explosion occurs behind the door as you open it, throwing spikes in a 15' wide swath in front of the door.

When Germon opens the door to the windmill an explosion of wood and fire comes bursting outward.

"Ah, well done...HEY!"

Darnail will shield his face at the explosion, looking both surprised and alarmed.

Male Human Gunslinger, 1

I will remove the cigarette from my mouth.

"Shhh.... quiet... they may hear you..."I whisper loudly.

Then I return the cigarette to my lips and mosey back a bit. As the windmill is at the top of the hill, I will move back to the crown of the hill and lay down flat on my stomach with my pistol out, primed, and aimed at the door, looking for action. My hope is that being slightly lower then the top of the hill, laying flat on the ground, I will have some cover from the upper arc of the hill.

But who knows?

Meawnhile, I shall wait for something interesting to develop, though I will be keeping my eyes open for any possible threats from the lower incline of the hill, so enemies can't come up behind us.

Let me know if you'd like a perception roll at this time to see if someone is comming from behind. Thanks!

"Well so much for them not knowing we are here. May as well had a trumpet announcing us."

The Slice, and Cael make their reflex saves and therefore only take half damage. Germon you take full damage.

Immediately after the smoke begins the clear you are able to see into the shack. It looks to be a mess, there are bottles all over the floor, stained bedrolls, plates of food that have been left out and more. You also see another door that looks to lead into the actual windmill.

Germon scraps the shrapnel off his armor. "Blast! Of all the luck." Germon moves into the room looking around. This time he draws his sword. When Logarth mentions the door Germon rolls his eyes. "Can we please use the elephants this time? I'm not fond of standing on explosives. They hurt." Germon will keep his distance from this door and watch and wait as others move towards it.
