Once it is pointed out that the runes are our birth signs I walk over and touch my rune then step outside the circle with my companions and head to the east. Upon seeing the goblins Logarth readies himself.

Wow! Teach me to go to the beach on Sunday!!!

The Slice thought he heard some mumbling voices, so he slowly opened his eye. No it was still dark, and colder than he was used to. Must be getting ready to storm...I'll just go back to sleep.

Then the faint but powerful voice manifested in his head. Wow what kind of weird dream is this. Must be because I'm getting ready to make a big change in my life...but it seems so real. Oh well I can see it's lighter now, but not time to get up yet...

Then he smelled the dirt beneath him, the grass an unfamiliar scent, and feel...Was this really a dream...With a start he squinted his eyes, so that he appeared to be asleep. There were people in his room. What was going on.

Then suddenly someone grabbed him and started to pick him up. Quicker than a gnat fart, he started awake, and his twin daggers appeared in his hands.

"Hey put me down"! "What's going on here"? he startles, trying to slip free to the ground, his knives at ready.

...Once he regains his feet, he addresses the group. He quickly spins his daggers deftly, and takes the time to put them back in their spring loaded sheaths. I am called simply the slice". He tells the gathered group. "Where in all the worlds are we"? After introductions he joins the group in their exploration.

In case I am not up when the posting starts again, Darnail will spend the first round getting to his feet since he was praying, and readying his shield at the sounds of combat before moving to the support of the others. (move to stand, move to ready)

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Ok, I'll try and keep up. Busy life and stuff.

Germon stares at the megaliths but does not see anything special about them off the bat. He then reaches down and awakens his dog. He listens to the others until a strange voice from out of no where. He looks around frantically trying to find the speaker and then relaxes and simply listens. Once the voice had finished he felt a strong sense of purpose fill his very being.
At last he thought Finally a true test of his worth and ability, a chance to show the world what Germon Falleyas could do

Then he notices the goblins appearing.
Germon draws his sword and readies for combat.
"Ready for battle!" His dog began to growl at the monsters

it's fine, it's not like things will always go the way darnail hopes they will! He will finish them before traveling onwards however!

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

Lance posted his initiative yesterday. He got a 7. It was a couple posts back.

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

Initiative order should be something like Cael 20, Slice 17, Darnail 17, Barrett 14, Lograth 10, Germon 09, and Lance 07

Cael's action will be to step forward and bring a heavy slam down onto the nearest goblin. Power Earth Breaker1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
damage2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 3) + 9 = 16

Thanks Cael! I missed that. Shadow Goblin Initiative 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

ok here is how combat is going to work. you do not have to post in order. Everyone will post and then I will write a round summary at the end. The shadow goblins are about 15' away and there are one for each of you, so six in total. They all move up and attack you. They are wielding shadowy light wooden shields and morningstars. Cael if you kill yours the hit wont occur.

Cael's Goblin 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 211d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Lance's Goblin 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 81d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Slice's Goblin 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Darnail's Goblin 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 141d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Germon's Goblin 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 211d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Logarth's Goblin 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 81d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

And Cael steps forward and with a massive downward swing, obliterates the goblin in front of him. It dissolves into shadowy mist and dissipates.

Barrett snarls and licks his wound as the goblin dies.

Germon quickly surveys the battle checking for any allies in need of assistance.

Am I adjacent to anybody? I have the saving shield feat so I'd like to know who can benefit from it. Since Barrett was on one side of me, that means I could help only one other person.

hmm, if the goblin can reach me even though I was inside the circle praying, I would be shieldless and kneeling. (prone?) which means a 15 would actually hit me. If that is indeed the case, and I drop to 1 hp, my action would change as i wouldn't chose to provoke an AoO for standing.

I thought you were outside. My mistake. That changes things. The goblin on you charges and right when he gets to the stone circle he stops dead as if he hits a wall. So you do not get hit.

Wow! Little late here; but okay.

1. I will roll Init, just to see if it matters.

2. I am presuming I go at the end of the round, as the goblins have already attacked. If so, I will simply draw my sword and attack the goblin who is in my face and who missed me with his attack.

I up-end my blade and examine it carefully, seeking for any ichor or reisdual slime or ooze that may be clinging to it. Slashing through shadows or mist... seeing them disipate... all in a day's work in a universe where magic reigns. Yet, it doesn't hurt to discover what clues we may find as to the nature of these things...

This assumes there are no more standing. If so, I will not give my blade a second glance, but look to the nearest threat. At the next chance, if they are still hovering when I may yet attack, I shall do so again.

Good enough... I've drawn blade and acted this round, but as soon as possible, I'll move over to flank with the remaining creature, and end it, if I can. Presuming no one else moves to get there first...

Figuratively, its like it hit a wall and couldn't go any further, like it was being held back.

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

Ok end round one of our first fight! Yeah!

Recap:

As you are exploring the stone circle and heading out into the mist to leave, shadowy mist rises from the ground in front of each of you. It forms into the shape of goblins and they immediately go to attack. Cael's warrior instincts kick in and he leaps forward to attack the one in front of him. Swinging a massive maul over his head, he brings it down expertly onto the goblin in front of him, dissipating it instantly. The other goblins don't seem to have any reaction to their companion getting killed and rush to attack those in front of them. Most of them miss with the exception of the one attacking Germon, who manages to land a glancing blow across his armor, jarring him a bit. Slice is momentarily confused as he wakes up and waves his weapon at the goblin, keeping it at bay. Barrett sees the threat to his master and, being well trained, circles around behind the creature, suffering a blow to the side as he does. He snarls and tries to snap at the goblin but manages only to get a mouth full of leather. Logarth, deftly allows the goblin to swing past him and with amazing dexterity and speed, brings his knee up into the goblins chest, knocking him up into the air, where he explodes into nothingness. Germon, enraged more by the strike to his friend Barrett than the blow to himself, screams out a battle cry and slices the goblin from left shoulder to right hip, essentially cutting the goblin in half. The two pieces fall to the ground where they sink back to wherever they came from. Lastly, Lance manages to dodge nimbly away from his goblins attack and with a quick reverse of his wrist, stabs the goblin through its throat, and reducing it to mist, but not before making a quip at its expense.

Next round! There are two goblins left. The one at the stone circle nearest Darnail, and the one that attacked Slice. Cael in the future wait until the round is over before killing everything in the next round. ;)

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

The goblin that was attempting to attack Darnail turns and charges the big barbarian. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 121d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 and missing completely. Barrett then attacks from behind and pounces onto the goblin, biting into the back of its neck and shaking it before it dissipates. A moment of silence befalls broken only by the heavy breathing of those catching their breath. The fog quickly dissolves and you can see now where you are.

You are on a scraggy, near featureless island less than a quarter mile across. The only notable feature being the circle of immense stones you can finally see clearly. To the south a causeway of stone connects the island to the mainland, which you can see stretching away in both directions. The water comes up near the top of the causeway and you can see the surf splashing against the grey stone.

From what you can see from here the country is hilly and barren, with crumbling flint walls dividing up fields where starved-looking sheep graze. You can clearly see a small town along the coast to the west. Among the hills to the south, there are some rotten-looking wooden structures, the above-ground remains of an old mining complex. Alone on a hill to the east is a windmill, with its sails motionless in the still air; it is impossible to tell if it is still in use.

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Sheathing his sword, Germon turns to the others in the party,

"I say we head to the town and ask where we are and get treatment for any injuries we may have sustained."

Germon whistled to Barrett to come to his side and glanced at the others waiting for a response.

"Well now that was fun," Logarth says as he dusts himself off. "It seems fate brings us all together for good or ill. Everyone alright?" As Logarth scans around his muscles begin to relax. "Seems to me perhaps we should cross to the mainland? I think perhaps that town is the best place to start so we can get our berrings."

"A fine plan, to be sure, and I'm not saying you're wrong. But does anyone know of these stones? And their meaning? It seems that these stones are the true focus of what drew us here. We're somehow linked, by magic or some sort of divine intervention... I would know more about what drew us here, and why. A moment or two to confirm anything of note on these stones may be useful?"

I will spend a moment doing a more thorough search of the stones, specifically the one with my birthsign on it.

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Germon approaches the stones and ponders for a minute.

"The voice I heard, I believe we all heard made it sound as though we were chosen for some kind of great undertaking."

A smug smile crept across Germon's face. He gestured raising his arms into the air as if he meant to embrace the stone structure.

"This is it!" He cried. "This is the calling, the event I have long awaited. A chance to prove myself."

Germon turned to the others

"Don't you see. Whatever fate is controlling this series of events has a plan for us. We are intended to go forth and seek this John fellow that the voice mentioned."

He glances at the stones again. He approaches one and puts his hand on it.

"It would also seem that if any of us should fall in battle, we could be resurrected at sites similar to this one so long as we haven't had time to decay."

He turned to the others again.

"From this day forth I consider each of you my comrades in arms. For this quest, this destiny is ours to fulfill together." Germon draw his sword and raises it to the sky. "I am Germon Galantious Falleyas and by my Family's sword and the order of the Dragon I will protect and assist you as if you had been my friend for many years. This I promise."

Sheathing his sword once again, He addressed them one.

As he walks forward he cant help but think if his actions would honor his ancestors and his clan. He then drift to think about not flying into a rage yet for fear that those companions of his would not understand the clarity that te rage provides in times of stress.

Male Elf Cleric 2

"I also agree that there seems to be some power behind the scenes here that has gathered us all together and that staying together may serve us all best until more answers are forthcoming. Before we travel on however, i need to finish my meditations."

Having said that, Darnail will return to where he was kneeling and resume his prayers. he will be about an hour, then afterwards matter of factly gather his belongings and seek to travel.

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

While the elf prays to the trees, or leaves, or winds, or the bugs, whatever, Cael will begin wrestling playfully with Barrett. In the middle of the sparring match he will look up at Germon, You know, I had some dogs back home, some horses too. They were good to have hunting and guards, of course Tarryn never allowed them in the hut because of that damned rodent of hers. What about you? What did you leave back home? At the conclusion of the sentence he will look at all of you for a moment before he continues wrestling with the dog.

I sling my kit bag over my shoulder, then give my blade another quick look (I presume, sir GM, there was nothing on the blade? No residual mark from the shadowy creatures? No blood, etc.?).

If the blade is clean, I sheathe it, and will theoretically proceed to town, depending on what our Survival rolls determine... By the way, no matter what my roll is, I will share the information I receive with the party right away. So far, we're bound together by circumstance, at least we should travel as allies.

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

Lance, sir Elf needs to pray to his gods. We should wait till his prayers are complete. You should wrestle Barrett it is quite a good time. He takes time to pet the dog.

Male Elf Cleric 2

Assuming the hour I need will go by, and Darnail can finish his prayers.

After roughly an hour passes, Darnail will stir and reverently fold and stop the cloth and then rise. He looks around at his new travelling companions and sees more then a few faces tinged with impatience or annoyance.

"Thank you for waiting. I am sorry for adding to any stresses and worries already present with our current situation."

A polite nod in Cael's direction when he speaks, after which he will shoulder his travel bag and dust his leggings off.

"Is anyone still injured from those creatures of shadow?"

He will move from one to another, giving a quick look to everyone before nodding to himself that everyone is healthy.

"I am ready. Let us be off?"
