OK, that works. I'll cancel that action.
Selia moves into the room and off to the side with Lleidr, checking around her to make sure there isn't an ambush.
Round 1 | Move Action right and up from the entrance to the room | Ready Action - attack in case of ambush that is obviously aggressive
Crossbow
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage Roll: 1d8 ⇒ 8

Nicholae Szabo |

unless stated, from the next battle roll init twice for me and give me the best result and note I need to reduce my domain uses by one

[Early Evening, Cathedral Round 1, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
Nicholae charges into the room, follows a curved stair at the far end, and comes up next to the wicked looking creature.
Jubrayl strides inside, near the middle of the room, taking in the ancient architecture and the threat posed by their newest opponent.
Hakak rushes in as well, puzzled by their accuser. He is followed by Selia, with crossbow at the ready.
“Armed brutes! I will defend this sacred place till my last breath!” Screeching at you, Erylium flaps her wings and lifts up into the air (NOTE: AoO, so I assumed Nich would take advantage); Nicholae’s sword smacks the tiny beast hard, but the wound is seemingly minor. Erylium flies straight up into the ceiling and, to your collective astonishment, vanishes before your eyes.
Lleidr creeps along the north-east edge of the room, disappearing into the cathedral’s gloom.
Ned’s arrow sails through the room, disappearing into the ceiling’s buttresses.
(NOTE: if you wish to keep targeting this poor creature, you’ll have to do try to discern with a Perception check the creature’s location and then target a specific square. If your PER check fails, you can still attack, but you'd need to tell me which square. At the risk of cluttering the map, I’ve added some row & column headers.).

Nic casts Magic Weapon.
This creature may have difficult to pierce hide... Prepare appropriately.

Lleidr |

"Don't forget the hunllef climbing out of that pool!" Lleider says to Hakak, then readies his bow and looks for a clue where the imp or whatever the hell it is went.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Unless he notices a reason to aim elsewhere, Lleidr will target square G8, up towards the ceiling where he last saw the creature.
Short bow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

![]() |

"So by 'prepare' you mean pull out my axe and swing at it's little neck so we can see it's head roll. Then I'm on it."
Hakak will pull out his axe and ready an attack on anything that attacks the group, either from the imp or pool.
Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage roll: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

[Early Evening, Cathedral Round 2, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
Nicholae casts Magic Weapon (your own weapon?) while Jubrayl braces himself for an onslaught.
A sinspawn clambers out of the orange water, glowering at all of you. Shoulders hunched down, he begins to lumber towards Nicholae.
Hakak storms up the staircase and buries his axe into the newly born sinspawn’s leg.
Selia struggles to remember anything relevant about the quasit. It is a demon, but she knows nothing else.
Lleidr fires an arrow, which flies through empty air and bounces off the floor near the orange pool. You can hear muted muttering, but given the room’s acoustics, it’s very difficult to pinpoint the origin.
(NOTE: Ned did ready an attack action, but I did an attack roll, since there wasn’t one displayed) Ned also fires an arrow, and it plinks into the pool, just missing the newly emerged sinspawn.

Nicholae Szabo |

My own sword
Nic moves to g7 then to g8 and attacks the sinspawn with his magic sword.
1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10
1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 = 5

Lleidr |

Cathedral, Round 3
Lleidr will strain his ears for another hint of the quasit's location. If he's unsure, he'll hold his bow attack until it reappears rather than risk hurting someone in the party with a wild shot.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Short bow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

No problem ziltmilt! I suppose my use of the word ambush was misleading! I should have just used "for any obviously aggressive targets". I will hold off on my action then and join the regular rotation!
The following is assuming that Ned is not blocking the door in a way that would prevent Selia from closing it.
Selia mutters to herself about Cyprus' training on the planes being incomplete at best. She sees the sinspawn rise from the pool but the others close on it before she can attack. "I hope this isn't a bad idea..." she says, just before closing the door the group entered from. "If that imp is still in here, he won't be leaving the easy one."

[Early Evening, Cathedral Round 3, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
Nicholae comes up to Hakak’s side, and tries to bash the sinspawn, but the creature proves too quick and dodges the blow.
Jubrayl storms up the southwest stairs, to the top of the dais.
The sinspawn snaps his head and claws around, and catches Hakak by surprise, with both a bite and a gash (need a Will Save, 9 points damage. What’s your current hp by now?).
Hakak’s axe cleaves the creature fatally, and it slumps back into the pool, bobbing on its surface, polluting the orange water with green gore.
Selia reaches behind Ned and slams the massive cathedral doors shut. The clanging doors echo in the empty space.
To Selia’s astonishment, a disgusting entity consisting of roiling waves of flesh, appears right beside her. Amid the fatty surge wriggle half-formed limbs and a dripping tumorous face. A gaping maw spreads into something resembling a smile, and claws reach forward for you. The lumbering creature proves too slow, but one hand nearly catches its prey.
In an instant, Lleidr’s bowstring snaps an arrow southeast (Erylium is in F9, about 15’ in the air). Your target’s flapping wings and incessant mutterings have betrayed her to your ears. You see the arrow stop in mid-air and bounce off of your unseen quarry.
(NOTE, since the sinspawn is no more, and Ned’s got a really close target now, I’m adjusting his action slightly. I hope you don’t mind.) Stepping forward, Ned fires his bow and the arrow hits the devil next to Selia, right in the center of its chest. The shaft sinks into a mound of roiling fat, which coalesces around the projectile and buries it.

Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
After the 9 point of damage I'm down to 4 hp.
After killing the sinspawn Hakak's turn a blood red and two large horns sprout from his head. He sees the denon and starts to run up behind it with his axe held high with two hands and his head down like a charging bull.
Hakak is raging and with his lesser fiend totem he gained the horns as either a primary or secondary weapon. He will move to E3 and attack with his axe as a primary attack and horns as a secondary attack.
Axe attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Damage roll: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Horn attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Damage roll: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Nicholae Szabo |

Nicholae was higher than Hakak in the init count so he'll convert Shield of Faith into a healing spell and hit him with a Cure Light Wounds then move to I5 before he goes all crazy and berserky.
CLW 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Lleidr |

Round 4
Lleidr will swear under his breath at the appearance of the new monster, but try to keep track of the quasit so he can fire another arrow.
Not sure if you need another Perception roll, but just in case...
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
If he can't keep track of the quasit's flight, Lleidr will keep an arrow nocked and ready.
Short bow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Selia yelps in surprise at the sudden appearance of the abomination. She steps away from, almost reflexively. Seeing Ned's arrow sink into its flesh without causing it any harm, Selia thinks better of firing her crossbow at it. She drops her crossbow and grabs her spear and buckler.
Round 3 | Move - 5' step (down-left) | Standard - Equip spear and buckler
Selia thinks back to her training with Cyprus, racking her brain for information on the beast.
Knowledge(planes): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

[Early Evening, Cathedral Round 4, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
Nicholae channels divine energy which bathes Hakak in a holy light, restoring some health.
Jubrayl sprints back down the stairs, to fight this newly appearing foe.
Hakak momentarily feels sickened by his own wrath, but shakes it off and storms towards the lemur. Unfortunately, the creature’s claws reach out and parry the half-orc’s attacks.
Selia steps up to close with the horrid lemur, struggling to recall anything pertinent that will help them in battle.
Hideous, massive rats pop into being, behind Selia and Hakak. They lunge out with gaping jaws, trying in vain to find purchase on fresh prey. The lemure slashes away at Hakak, but the fighter’s armor proves resilient (only 1 hp of dmg inflicted)
“This one’s presence I find especially galling in this holy house.” After a sudden incantation, Erylium appears (NOTE, she’s now in I6), hovering 15’ off the floor, in flight among the buttresses, pointing at Jubrayl. (NOTE: I need a Will save from Jubrayl, but if you can’t get it today, I’ll roll for you later this evening or early tomorrow).
Lleidr’s bow sings again, launching an arrow into ceiling, which disappears into the carved stone.
Ned’s greatsword smashes into lemur’s stinking flab, biting hard.

Nicholae Szabo |

Nic moves to H4 and attacks the devil with his magic sword.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Lleidr |

Lleidr will call out, "I think this little flying cythraul is summoning these hunllefau, but I can't seem to damage her with my arrows! Can one of you holy magical people do that whadayacallit to her?? Exercise?"
At the same time, he'll move to B2 and shoot an arrow at the rat behind Selia, at D1.
Short bow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
crit damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
crit damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Dear God, I have got to get a Strength boost somehow!

Nicholae Szabo |

Gaaaah! What a waste. That said its crappy results on the damage dice as much as anything else. The actual 3 results were all under the average. As for the magical enhancements? I am dry

ziltmilt |

[Early Evening, Cathedral Round 5, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
Nicholae wades into the central pool, and stabs the lemur, the blade biting through thick tough layers of drooping skin.
(NOTE: I think Jub is out this weekend, so I’m assuming an action for him) Jubrayl laughs off the dweomercraft of the flying quasit and lunges for the rats behind Hakak (3 hp dmg to the rat).
Hakak’s buries his axe into the blobby devil, whereupon it falls to the ground, and then evaporates before starting to drip into the pool.
(NOTE: I haven’t gotten an action this round for Selia, but since she armed herself with a spear and buckler last round, I’m assuming she’d go after one of the rats). Selia whips around and stabs at the rat clawing at her from behind (3 hp dmg to the rat).
The rats are swarming onto the paladin and one manages to lunge under Jubrayl’s shield and deliver a nasty bite (2 hp dmg, but don’t worry, you made your save vs its Filth Fever).
Erylium flies over the pool, and a coruscating ray springs from her hand towards Ned (please Save vs Fort of DC 13 and take either 4 STR dmg or 2 STR dmg). “I look forward to adding your own skulls to this sacred circle here.”
Lleidr fires an arrow deep into the flank of one of the dire rats, whose dead body thumps the ground, twitching, but then disappears in a haze.
Ned bounds between Nich and Hakak, and with a heavy swipe of the sword, send the corpse of last summoned creature back to wherever it originated (NOTE: even if you take the max STR dmg, your die roll was so high, it wouldn’t have mattered in this instance).
