Background:

Edward 'Ned' Rodan or Ned as he's commonly called, was a great man. An adventurer, an explorer a warrior, dedicated to the defence the good people and creatures of the land. Together with a small party of intrepid adventures he explored ancient forest, crumbling ruins and delved deep below the earth. While they ran into their share of troubles they never met a challenge that they couldn't overcome either by guile or pure strength of arms. Never, that is, until they were caught off guard and captured by a powerful succubus.

It may have been kinder if Ned's story ended there, but fate isn't always gentle. The succubus chained Ned and his companions within her lair and kept them for years slowly draining them of their life essence. Ned was the last of the companions left alive when a party of adventures happened upon the succubus' lair and defeated her. After a little casual looting they unchained Ned from the wall and, being typical adventures, pointed him towards the entrance, gave him some food and sent him on his way. They had better things to do than escort a raving mad hermit to safety. He stumbled his way out of the dungeon and into the wilderness. Although greatly diminished Ned still retained a small fraction of the abilities that had served him well for so many years. Against any reasonable expectation he was able to make his way out of the forest and back to civilization.

Ned's mind has been shattered by imprisonment and endless torture and has retreated from what was done to him. These days he makes a modest living hunting and selling meat and fur (he still retains the skills of his class albeit at a lower level). When a dangerous situation arises the personality of the old Edward Rodan returns. He spends his free time lingering over a cup of ale in a local tavern in Sandpoint gossiping with the old timers and providing unwanted advice to the youngsters. He's the very picture of everyone's favorite doddering grandfather.

Ned currently rents a cramped room at the tavern. The owner has seen flashes of the Old Edward on occasion and suspects there is something more to the old man than meets the eye and likes having him around in case of trouble.

Appearance:

At 35 years of age Ned may be little older than the average 1st level adventurer but he looks positively ancient. His time in captivity aged him considerably and he could easily pass for a remarkably spry 60 year old senior.

6'2", 205lbs, White hair, Gray eyes, Fair skin.
