Lleidr |

Short sword in hand, Lleidr will move as quietly as possible north/straight ahead a couple of squares to try and get a better view of the red shape.

Am I in the hall with everyone else or am I back in the main corridor waiting?
You're with everyone else. I'm using Maptool, and your token image is a victim of one of the Maptool's features, Fog of War. Since you're around the bend from those in front, you didn't show up when I clicked on the token for Nicholae.
Here's the current marching order I've got, but feel free to re-arrange this as desired:
Lleidr (with a candle)
Nicholae (with Light on his shield)
Selia
Ned
Jubrayl
Hakak
It sounded like Lleidr is scouting out in front of you, and he needs light, so that's why I've got those up front. But, again, tell me if anything should be different.

[Mid Afternoon, Tunnels Under Sandpoint, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
Before you stands a red marble statue of a strikingly beautiful but, at the same time, monstrously enraged human woman in the middle of this room, her stony expression twisted in fury. The woman wears flowing robes, and her long hair is held back from her face by an intricate headdress of hooks and blades. In her left hand she carries a large book, the face of which is inscribed with a seven-pointed star. Her right hand holds a glittering metal-and-ivory ranseur.
The back side of this room does indeed open up into the tunnel from which you entered this complex.

Lleidr |

Lleidr will cautiously peer around the corner to check out the rest of the room. If all seems clear, he'll carefully move up towards the statue with the intent of checking it and the immediate area for traps. For precise movement purposes, he's planning to move another 10' north/straight ahead.
Recalling that the carvings didn't depict any halflings being mutilated, he doesn't feel too jinx-y muttering, "What a ferch ofnadwy she must've been to be able to stay ddig long enough for them to carve a statue!"
Perception: Trapfinding: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

ziltmilt |

[Mid Afternoon, Tunnels Under Sandpoint, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
No one notices anything dangerous about the statue or in the room itself. Several of you do hear voices, whose words are unfamiliar, but the tone is not. There’s an argument happening somewhere on the other side of that north door.
Nicholae’s light reveals a hallway from the east, sets of stairs interrupted by a landing. The stairs go up.

Jubrayl Elhan |

Jubrayl moves to the side of the door and holds up three fingers to the rest of them.
After everyone else gets into position, he counts down with his fingers and kicks the door in.

![]() |

"While I do understand our need for haste, I am baffled by this group's level of patience and tact. I suppose there is nothing to do about that now, though." Selia, having returned her shield and spear to their positions, shoulders her crossbow and stays off to the side of the door.

ziltmilt |

[Mid Afternoon, Tunnels Under Sandpoint, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
Charging through the door, you all find yourselves atop a wooden platform looking down into a big room.
This large chamber was obviously once a prison, as testified by the twenty cells that line the room’s perimeter. A rickety wooden platform overlooks the room, with two flights of stairs descending to the prison floor ten feet below. A five-foot-wide wooden walkway runs from the northern edge of the platform to a passageway to the east.
Huddled in a corner, three sinspawn abruptly drop the crumbling skulls they were arguing over, and turn to face you.
(NOTE: in case the map is confusing, you’re atop a platform, looking down onto the sinspawn below. You can go down the stairs or the ramp; you can also walk without impediment under the platform.)

Lleidr |

You can go down the stairs or the ramp;
I'm not sure what ramp you referring to on the map, but I assume it's the OSHA-mandated one for old Ned to get his Hoveround down to the fight.

Lleidr |

Lleidr doesn't want to get caught up in the rush of armored guys with heavy weapons charging down the stairs. As necessary, he'll hold his movement til Hakak, Nich, and Jub have move into melee. If their movement ends up blocking the east stairs, Lleidr has ranks in Acrobatics and is comfortable bailing over the edge of the platform to move into melee where he can help flank.
Beating a DC 15 will allow him to ignore the 10' of falling damage.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
If his movement puts him in melee range, he'll stab at one of the sinspawn.
Short Sword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Of course, +2 to that attack roll if he can get into a flanking position, and Sneak Attack damage as well.
Sneak Attack damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Bah. Ned will stand up here and shoot arrows. :-)

That's fine, as long you don't yell, 'Darn kids, get off my lawn!'

Lleidr |

That's fine, as long you don't yell, 'Darn kids, get off my lawn!'
Zilt, I've known you too long :) That was gonna be my joke, except I was going to recommend brandishing a cane as he yelled.

Jubrayl Elhan |

Jubrayl moves down the ramp to the right, getting between Nicholae and the Sinspawn. Soon as he's diagonal from the one at the bottom, he will attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

O.K. that settles it. I'm not leaving my Gran Torino to any of you jerks :-)

+1 to hit and vs fear saves everyone

If able, Selia lines up a shot at the least harried sinspawn.
If there are any that are not yet considered in melee, I would like to target that one. It's hard to tell at the moment, though!
Round 1 | Ready Action - Attack Sinspawn when there is clear line of sight

[Mid Afternoon, Catacombs Under Sandpoint, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
Nicholae’s voice reverberates throughout the room, renewing your courage.
The first sinspawn lashes out with his ranseur at the prayerful cleric, which Nicholae knocks aside with ease. He then slides over to the other corner of the staircase. His partner hefts his ranseur, and races out of a mouldering cell, under the deck, reappearing at the base of the opposite stair. The third creature grips its weapon in both hands, readying for an onslaught.
Selia readies for a shot …
Hakak runs down the ramp, but is stabbed by an expertly wielded ranseur as he plunges down the stairs (8 hp dmg). His swing misses the leering, dodging sinspawn. The last sinspawn stabs out with his blade, but Hakak's chain means the half-orc barely gets a tickle.
Lleidr hops over the edge, disappearing into the gloom below.
Jubrayl has to hop off the edge of the stairs to get within range, and his blade smashes into Hakak’s assailant.
Ned, then Selia, each side step to a better position and fire at the monsters, but both miss.
(NOTE: here’s where 2D maps run into limitations. At this point, Lleider is not adjacent to Ned or Selia; he’s under the wooden platform. Ned, Selia and Nicholae each have a very subtle halo of white around their tokens, to denote 10’ of elevation relative to everyone else. Maybe that will help a little. Also,Nicholae didn’t get an Attack of Opportunity versus the sinspawn that raced to the opposite side of the room because he wasn’t adjacent. He was atop the stairs; the monster was down below).

Jubrayl Elhan |

Jubrayl takes a five foot step around his sinspawn, hoping Hakak will get an opportunity to flank the beast and swings.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Round 2 | Standard Action - Attack sinspawn (3 squares left of Selia's position)
Selia quickly reloads her crossbow and fires on the sinspawn ascending the left stairway.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage Roll: 1d8 ⇒ 4
However, her shot goes wild, going nowhere near the beast. She yells to the others, "We might need a little bit of muscle over here, boys!"

Nicholae Szabo |

The cleric turns and heads over to the other stair case, if possible to attack the other sin spawn.

Lleidr |

Round 2
Hoping the wild shadows from Nich's shield's movements and the rise of the stairs will help conceal him, Lleidr will attempt to Stealth up behind the sinspawn as it ascends the western/left set of stairs.
Stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
If he draws the monster's attention, he has Acrobatics to help avoid an attack of opportunity.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
If he beats the DC by 10, his movement is normal; otherwise, halved.
If he can make it into melee position, he'll stab at the sinspawn with his short sword.
Short sword: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 = 11
damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Again, +2 to the attack roll if initiative and movement ends up with me flanking it with Ned, and Sneak Attack damage if I'm able to Steath and/or flank.
Sneak Attack damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

[Mid Afternoon, Prison Chamber Round 2, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
Nicholae turns and strides towards a sinspawn coming up with left stair. With a heavy thump, its ransuer bounces off Nicholae’s shield. Nicholae returns a heavy blow, his weapon biting deep.
In a rage, it drops the ranseur and flings itself upon the cleric with grasping mandibles and hideous claws stretching from gangly arms. Nothing gets past the good cleric’s armor and shield. On the other side of the room, another sinspawn jabs at Hakak once more, but this time aiming at the half-orc’s weapon, to knock it from his grasp. Hakak swats the pole-arm away with ease. The third sinspawn turns its full fury on the paladin, its jaws clamping down on the aasimar’s arm for a moment before Jubrayl twists away. Fortunately, his armor makes for a thick hide.
Attempting to encircle Jubrayl’s assailant, Hakak steps closer to an enemy and delivers a shattering blow. The sinspawn cries out in a mixture of anguish and anger.
Lleidr sneaks up behind the western sinspawn; so far, it’s full attention is rivted upon Nicholae and it shows no sign of noticing the Halfling.
Jubrayl hops up onto the sloping ramp, and with a powerful chop, brings the sinspawn to the floor. It falls to the flagstone, a twitching, cloven wreck.
Nichoale’s shot misses (NOTE – firing into melee is hard!), and the ranger advances forward.
Selia’s shot also misses. You all hear her cry for help on the left side.
Jubrayl’s penetrative darkvision reveals another room to the east. The room contains several ancient relics of what appear to be torture implements, although their function and style seem strange and archaic. In one corner sits a spherical cage with spikes protruding inward from its iron bars. In another
stands what appears to be a star-shaped wooden frame, its surface studded with hooks. And in the center of the room is a long table covered with leather straps and a number of cranks that seem designed to rotate and swivel. (NOTE – I just realized this darkvision attribute. Sorry about that!).

Was this supposed to be Ned's shot? If so, he has Precise Shot, so not quite so hard :-) I'll be shure to d in applipicable feats to my post from now on.

Even though you ignore the penalty for firing into melee, the difficulty I was referring to was cover the sinspawn had from Nicholae. I didn't explain well why you missed. Cover is what bugs me about Precise Shot. I wish the feat ignored cover, if the only cover provided is from a melee opponent.
But ... you know what, it makes sense that the creature has Partial Cover instead! The shot hits! And the arrow buries itself into the creature's leg.

[Mid Afternoon, Prison Chamber Round 3, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
Nicholae batters away again at his foe, who steps backward a bit at the fury of the cleric’s onslaught.
The sinspawn returns a feeble attack, with only a single swipe managing to affect the cleric (2hp dmg). Meanwhile, Hakak’s opponent drops his ranseur and returns a furious onslaught, managing to clamp down on the half-orc’s elbow briefly (7 hp dmg) before sliding into one of the open cells, so that it’s protected on 3 sides.
Hakak tries to return the favor, but his quarry eludes him.
Lleidr creeps up behind the left-most sinspawn, and after burying his sword deep in the creature’s back, the enemy cries out and leans leftward, then plunges right off the side of the staircase.
(NOTE: Jubrayl’s opponent was already dead, so I’m assuming you’d move onto the next one) Jubrayl hops off the ramp, and runs to engage Hakak’s enemy. Despite the protection of side walls, the paladin is able to strike the creature across it’s gangly shoulders.
(NOTE: I don’t have an action for Ned yet for this round, and Selia was actually targeting the same dead sinspawn as Jubrayl, so I’m assuming both would fire at the remaining live one. So please note, there's only 1 left alive at this point.) Both Ned and Selia fire at the sinspawn in the cell, but he proves too difficult to hit.

Nicholae Szabo |

The cleric puts an end to the one in front of him, leaving the one in the cell to the others.

Lleidr |

Lleidr will hop down off the stairs and make sure the sinspawn is dead before moving towards a support position near where Hakak and Jubrayl are fighting the last one.

[Mid Afternoon, Prison Chamber Round 4, Third Day After Goblin Raid]
Nicholae delivers a killing blow to the prostrate sinspawn lying on the ground.
The remaining creature lashes out once more at the half-orc, but to no avail.
Satisfied that his opponent is dead, Lleidr moves over to Hakak and Jubrayl.
(NOTE: I didn’t get an action for Jubrayl, so am assuming he’d keep attacking) Jubrayl delivers a killing blow to the last sinspawn. And, with its death, the heavy silence of these catacombs engulfs you once again.
(NOTE: I’m not uploading a new map. Reference the map on the prior post to determine where you’re going next. You’ve got quite a few options.)

Lleidr |

Lleidr will get his candle lit again and look around for anything interesting, first on the sinspawn then around the room, making sure to poke through the cells.
