Cardinal Lucius d'Borja
|
Lucius could be sold on the idea of a free Africa - a suitably Catholic one of course!
Michael Johnson 66
One possible campaign arc could have you questing after the elusive and mythical Christian Kingdom of PRESTER JOHN, said to be the greatest Christian monarch since King Arthur, and more fabulously wealthy and powerful than all the princes of Europe, Asia, India, and Africa combined...
If such a monarch truly exists (he could in this world), he could easily help the pope and other Christian monarchs crush the infidel Ottomans and Satanic Church of Lucifer... if only he can be found and his aid entreated... Prince Henry of Portugal feels certain the mythical monarch can be found somewhere in Africa...

Equally, locating the famed mines of King Solomon would provide the funds required for all manner of mighty undertakings. If rumors of a great diamond called the 'Heart of Africa' are true then it might even be powerful enough to summon some long-dead hero from the grave!
(The idea of resurrecting someone like Charlemagne is awesome! :D)

Next step: The Champions go to Johann's home, the Black Forest, and strip mine the gummy bears and harvest the lollypop trees for a world dominating confectionery! Johann becomes the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire with his new found wealth, and orders whatshername and Rapunzel as his royal concubines! The Fox is made the court jester and has to wear a silly hat!

Absolutely! :)
Of course, planning three acts in advance for a sandbox free for all is futile at best, but one possible outline would be:
Act 1: levels 1-7; Crusaders of the Catacombs hunt Nero Antichrist in the Roman Catacombs, while Desert Jackals strike at Arab Slave Trade in Morocco, culminating in the two bands joining forces to topple Emir Al'Haaq of Marrakech and free his slaves.
Act 2: levels 7-14; Returning to the Roman Catacombs to continue the hunt for Nero, the champions finally confront him in his throne room, forcing him to flee into Hell where the heroes are not yet powerful enough to chase him down. Realizing they will need more power and magic to finally defeat him, the heroes return to Africa, perhaps to seek the Mines of King Solomon, or the fabled Kingdom of Prester John. Though they might not find either, they will gain the experience and might needed to take down the Antichrist during their exotic adventures in the dark heart of Africa...
Act 3: levels 14-20; Finally powerful enough to confront the Antichrist in Hell, the champions venture into the Inferno and track down Nero in the City of Dis, where he is under the protection of Mephistopheles. The heroes must fight their way through demons and devils, possibly even Mephistopheles himself, to finally defeat Nero and destroy his phylactery. By The time they return home to Earth, they are powerful enough to stand against the kaiju rampaging across the Earth!

Lmao!!

Mwikali will help if it means her people will get rid of the Muslims and their slave trade. For her, she seeks a Free Africa with the sorta Confederate Republic. Each state governing themselves but have to follow the rule of the Emperor or Empress decreed and agreed upon by the Republic kinda like Ancient Greece with a bit o Rome.

I'm having a bit of trouble following everything that's going on... any chance we could get a picture of the map that has my pit and the wall of fire drawn in?
And, I know it's not practical to try and label every miniature but could we maybe have like a little strip of post it note on each of our allies or something, so we can at least have a sense of where the team is?
Ihrin Ardlean Dracul
Mine is not on there either but it is low in the order of things. Wonder if I can sneak attack the Emir or re take my appearance as a harem girl to get in close and kill him

It would be difficult and take a few rounds, but it would be possible. Far easier to get the sneak damage just by beelining to emir with a flanking partner...
But to solo sneak up would require moving a couple rounds to get through guards and side chambers and pop out behind him through a back archway...

Apologies to Alexei and anyone else confused by the admittedly confusing hate I've set up here. I meant to have a pic posted with the wall of fire shown running the length of the back wall of that long back corridor the party passed through to enter the throne room through the two archways at itd orth and south ends. And replace the pit in front of one of the archways as Alexei declared (instead of near the Emir as I've shown in previous pics, which I did to avoid having Pcs who'd already entered the area Alexei was trying to place the pit from falling in as well). We will have to work out where you want the pit that won't hinder other Pcs, Alexei. Any suggestions?
Anyway, RL got in the way of me posting a new pic yet, so I'm sorry and will.get it up in the next day or teo.

Wow- that’s a little pressure to get it right, lol.
For the pit, I was trying to block one of the archways (I think) so that there was only really one way to move between the throne room and where we were (so that the guards couldn’t flood the hallway where the squishy casters were/are). That might not be possible without hitting an ally, I guess (I can’t tell who anyone is supposed to be on the map except the behir), and it might be a moot point depending on where the wall of fire is.
A chaotic map like this isn’t too bad for melee guys because you’re just going to attack whatever you can get to but it’s really rough for casters trying do some control (or people like rogues who depend on positioning).

Zag is a crit machine! I don't think I've ever seen him roll below an 18 to hit. Half serious!
Zagathoth
Lol- sometimes I roll 3s and 4s, you just forget because nobody remembers the misses. Also, I threaten on a 15-20 so statistically I should get one every 3-4 attacks.
Mwikali
Yes 8th level Muwahahahaha. She shall become a force to be reckoned with. And with a fellow caster she can definitely get more out of the deal. Now what spells to pick and hopefully the spoils will reveal many new spells and goodies
Ihrin Ardlean Dracul
She will definitely after level 10 switch to something else maybe fighter or Alchemist right now though. I am keeping her a rogue.
Wulfgar Ivarsson
I have informed MJ66 in a PM, due to a change of employment, I have much less time to post. With the joinging of the two parties, Wulfgar's hybrid frontliner/healer, is no longer needed. So, I will not be continuing in the 'combined game.'
For continuity, I would like to continue until the end of this 'chapter' hopefully leaving Wulfgar in Safi or aboard ship.
MJ 66, Mwikali and Lord P, Giovanni If your still with us, you to. It's been fun, I've really enjoyed the story, this group and playing Wulfgar. I will miss all of you and playing the Northerner.
Mwikali
Awww I am losing my favorite Northman!
I understand though. and yes I will gladly make you a Governor/Lord of Safi. You are one of the people she trusts to keep Safi Free of Slavery and Allow religious Freedom

LOL, you'll make me Governor? Who will make who? LOL
Like I said, it's been a lot of fun.

As we move forward, now is as good of a time as any for the Crusaders to say goodbye to Quinlan and Boga. Both of them have been gone from posting for quite some time, and it doesn't make sense for MJ to put energy into running them.
That puts the original team of Crusaders down to Zag, myself, Foxy, and the Cardinal. We've lost some good folk over our run, though at least none of them to the icy grip of death.
Cardinal Lucius d'Borja

This might be a good time for Lucius to rebuild then. He was originally a cleric and we don't need a middling switch-hitter in this mega party.
I'm happy to turn into Cleric 8 if people think it helps. :)
Cardinal Lucius d'Borja

Well yeah! :D No-one escapes Lucius' judgement! (In fairness, for an Inquisitor, he's pretty non-judgemental!)
So time to return to Lucius' roots as a Cardinal cleric I think.
Now how to keep his insane Sense Motive ability...
Zagathoth
I don’t know what you’re planning for your feats but the variant multiclass for inquisitor gets stern gaze... and I happen to know that we’re allowed to use variant multiclassing

Ooo, yeah, you'd have judgement, too! That's pretty cool.
Mwikali
Yeah I can heal but I am not like a major healer, unless I make enough wands to do so
Which I took craft wands just for this purpose
Ihrin Ardlean Dracul
Ihrin might go straight Rogue or something else after 10

Well said, Johann. It's been a pleasure to adventure with Boga the Hand of Jan Hus and Quinlan Ifrean, but it seems that RL has dictated that their part in our saga come to an end, or at least a temporary hiatus.
I will narrate their departure from active adventuring, but they will continue to aid the cause off screen...

Throw it on there, Mwikali! And also, before Boga leaves Johann takes back Rumpelstiltskin's handy haversack. "THAT'S MINE!"
roll call
Johann present.

Bag of holding type IV, Carprt of Flying, Cape of Montebaunk"Irish Farewell", Amulet of natural armor +1, Cloak of Elvenkind. I think are it.

I'm here! I am once again agonizing over how to do the next level for my character. =)
Deciding between...
--vigilante (warlock) 7: gain another social talent, a 2nd element that my mystic bolts can be (my single element up to now has been electricity; now I could pick acid, cold, or fire), and my first access to 3rd-level wizard spells (which seems less tempting because we have both Mwikali and Alexei in our party)
--unchained rogue (kitsune trickster) 2: gain evasion and a rogue talent
--fighter (still looking at archetypes) 1: I'd probably spend the bonus combat feat on Improved Dirty Trick, because I'd like to make use of that combat maneuver more; I could see myself spending the rest of my character feats and bonus fighter feats on dirty trick-related feats (including Kitsune Style, probably)
I have to say that I'm not very excited at all about advancing my spellcasting, because it's always so far behind our full casters.
In fact, if allowed, I think I'd like to consider getting rid of my warlock archetype (whether for a non-archetyped vigilante or for another archetype I'd need to spend more time considering).
Ihrin Ardlean Dracul
Hmmm Ogun you could go Brawler or Swashbuckler. But from what I read you might even try bard.I am looking into ranger, slayer, hunter and Vigilante
