ok, thinking about languages at fourth level, will probably will take Spanish just to talk to the crew.
Were most of the people we rescued speaking Arabic? Or is there any language you would recommend MJ66?
Those you rescued spoke many varied languages, the harem girls mostly Arabic and English... Latin or Italian could be handy later on...
Wulfgar Ivarsson
Gonna try and sack Safi?
In my mind the question is could we take it and hold it? We need to get word to the ship that the captain may come for it. Of course if we get there before he does, and take the monastery, we could set up a surprise for him and his tengu friend.
If we don't want to leave the city we at least need to send word to the ship that the captain is coming.

You can learn Español from Volreg or the crew, Elven from Plad, Dwarven from Gloin or Udo...
Volreg Sundek
I'll be learning Arabic from someone around here.... Don't know from whom yet, as being a farmer, some verbage is going to be a taaaaaad difficult.
Mwikali
I.lkke this language exchange idea. I also.toom ljnquistics last level but no language yet to devote it too
Volreg Sundek
Sounds fine with me, and I can say that it's taken a while for us to catch a grip on the functionality of the languages.
Wulfgar Ivarsson
ok, I assume the stables is as good as anyplace. Once we get out of the palace we need to decide if we are staying in town or riding back to Sefi to regroup. Either way I think we should do three things: steal all the horses, take guards uniforms so we can dress like the Emir's people and lastly burn the stable to the ground to cover our retreat.
Any other ideas? Are we staying in Marrakesh or going to Sefi?
Mwikali
Sounds like a plan. I think we should head back to Sefi to check on the boat and possibly take over yhe harbor and city making it a "Free port". Then we can regroup and come back to Marrekesh and attack the Emkr. While also doing raids on the incoming slave caravans greeing the slaves.

I agree, but I'm trying to get opinions; 'cause were all playing, not just me and MJ66 :-)
soldiers are sleeping in the palace, unfortunate, I was hoping we could kill them and take their stuff.
So the plan?
Take the animals we can, kill the useful ones we can't take, burn the rest in the fire so they hear the animals screaming and try to rescue them...
Did I mention Wulfgar is chaotic good? If this is stretching the 'good' part, we can chase the one we can't take and the non-useful ones ahead of us for a distraction...
Also, how many do we want to take and ride to Sefi or Sell here in Marrakesh?
Volreg Sundek
Well, being lawful in a group with chaotic can be a bit touchy, haha. We may have words over the issue of killing the animals, haha.
Volreg Sundek
I'd say stampede, but that's just me. The animals won't be killed off, and we'll create chaos, enough so to leave fairly easily, I hope.
Wulfgar Ivarsson
if were heading out of town I would take two mounts each and pack animals, but horses and camels only. Take some for the tiger to eat, but I would stampede or burn the mules and ponies, only because of speed.
so 20 camels is one per Npc with a second, 36 horses, we take fifteen and drive the rest into the Kasbah and hopefully out into the desert.
If were riding to Sefi were doing it without supplies, so were eating horse and drinking blood for three days.

Looks like you will be engaged in a three day race to Safi...
You are half hour (3 miles) behind the captain and first mate...
But you know it’s a race, and they don’t...yet...
With successful Handle Animal checks from some of the gladiators, you should be able to overtake the villains by the end of day one or two...
Michael Johnson 66
I was thinking we would at least send word ahead, either by fairy or thrush...
What kind of knowledge rolls do we need for the monks of Sefi, I'm wondering if we might be able to come to an understanding with them, I assume they are Muslim clerics of some sort,
They are Muslim monks and clerics, cloistered in the ribāt. The monks can use scimitars and sickles as monk weapons to perform flurry of blows. The monks and clerics are at least lawful in alignment, with the full spectrum of good, neutral, and evil among them...
The lawful good and lawful neutral monks and clerics might be negotiated with... the lawful evil ones will likely reject you as infidels and seek to stone you to death or behead you...
Wulfgar Ivarsson
hey, good news since were in the desert, Wulfgar has the create water orison...
@ Lord P. Once you join the group, what do you think about the idea of flying ahead and harrasing the captain and his first mate. Fun stuff, slitting their water bags, cutting the hobbles of their animals and running them off, you know, just good fun... It would be nice to catch them walking in the desert with no water.
Mwikali
Was wondering if after 5th level I should try myhand at dipping into another class. Was thinking an elementalist shifter.
Volreg Sundek
I was thinking a bit of Unchained Rogue for a few levels after 7th level, or maybe a ranger or slayer.
Mwikali
Well I am looking to optimize my defense so was looking monk or. Brawler but remebered shifter. Figured shifter works more thematically
Mwikali
I figured with the harem women we would do a montage of training and see what they could become. Figured most would know how to entertain and even a few skulk about. So I see Rogues and Bards being prevalent. Others would be maybe Slayers, Fighters, possibly a Witch, Shaman or Oracle. Maybe a Brawler or Two. Figured possibly a Sorcerer! Think about it they are pulled from their families to wed the Emir and trained to please him. Or he wanted them because they were exotic including possible magical implications and training
Michael Johnson 66
So... About sacking Safi...
6 PCs, plus 8 NPC gladiators, plus 12 NPC harem girls, plus an awakened tiger...
That’s 26 and a tiger...
Versus...
15 Moslem monks, 15 Moslem clerics, a harbor master, a constable and 4 stablehands...
36 defending a fortified monastery, or ribāt...
26 and a tiger besieging a ribāt defended by 36...
Sounds like a tall order!
Wulfgar Ivarsson
Yeah, that's what I was thinking,
I thought the only chance we would have is subterfuge. That's why Wulfgar was trying to gather the emir's guards gear. If we dress like them we may be able to get in.
Of course we can just warn the ship, and be on our merry.
The other option is to speak to the monks. Oddly depending on how 'liberal or conservative' they are, they may be willing to offer sanctuary and let us put a base there.
I don't know the layout of the ribāt. Did we pass through it going from the docks to the inland, or does it set beside the road?
Might our Lord P. find a way to let us sneak in?
Lot's of options to explore and we have three days in the desert to discuss it.
Also, no one said all 36 had to have levels of training, and would the monks be really 'eastern monks' or more like 'European monks' (they didn't seem to give the Vikings any troubles)
So, before we decide any breakdown you could give us would be helpful :-)
Edit: Would there me a place nearby that would be better to set up a base camp and leave the NPC's at?
Mwikali
You would think that some of the Monks would be simple religious zealots who have levels in like expert, as well as those who would be merely in training.
As for Sefi. I say we focus on the ship before we try to do anything locally. We may see what things need to be done at the harbor.
Then we can maybe gain another level or two before we attempt a coup or the Emirs life. Just a thought
Volreg Sundek
We are currently on the chase after the Captain. We're also leveling after a long rest.

I have upped Lord P to level 4, more skills hp and stuff,
+8 HP + BAB, Ref Eill Save +1, skills but the one key thing is
he has a spell that can make a little dimensional hallway for the gang to hid in for 4 hours and Share Language so now he can talk to anyone for a day.
Volreg Sundek
Volreg has been leveled to 4 and is ready to go! He can now jump better, farther, and has finally grasped the arabic language!
Mwikali
Ugh I need to still level.
MJ66: I did read that the Kingdom of Kanem on the other Side of Chad is unstable as is the Kingdom of Bornu which Mwikali could have the group eventually head too. She seeks to free her people from Muslim oppression and unite her people. If she can think of the instability that would cause the Arabs!!

Very true! I will research those kingdoms and prepare content.

What do you think the party should be called?
The other table has been dubbed the Crusaders of the Catacombs. I was thinking, for you guys: The Libertines of Africa, or the Privateers of the Alanqilis, or the Buccaneers of the Moray (Alanqilis is Arabic for eel, and her figurehead is a moray eel)... Any thoughts or other ideas?
Wulfgar Ivarsson
a name? What is it with gamers and naming their party? So a name... How about 'the Clash', since we 'rock the Cabah' ( the Achiko of The Yellow Reed version)
Yeah, I know this is like the third time it's been played, but it never gets old, right?
edit: Or in honor of al the women in the party desiring to be royalty, and MJ66's last in game 'song' we could call ourselves 'Queen' or 'Queens revenge'...
