Lol....I have an idea for a gnome witch Khaleesi who rides a pseudo dragon with the mauler template...... But that pales when compared with the pug
Helgarr |
Without wanting to throw a lot of the sand on the gears... I just realized we may be doing something very wrong here...
If fatigued characters continue to fight, don't they become exhausted...?
Wabbit the Paladin of Chaldira |
Thankfully there is nothing in the
Fatigued
A fatigued character can neither run nor charge and takes a –2 penalty to Strength and Dexterity. Doing anything that would normally cause fatigue causes the fatigued character to become exhausted. After 8 hours of complete rest, fatigued characters are no longer fatigued.
Or the
A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death.
Saying they can't continue fighting while fatigued after raging... that would suck and make raging a VERY risky proposition, unlike now where it is the standard tactic/class feature of the barbarian
Helgarr |
I see where I made the mistake - 'Doing anything that would normally cause fatigue...' - I misinterpreted this: fighting does not cause fatigue :P

Furnock, Maria, you guys close? Calvary is welcome, figuratively, no pug riders please. :)
Cleo Gingerberry |
Having trouble deciding?
Cleo Gingerberry |
OH... wait is that possible? Zombie Furnok?
Furnok of Ferd |
I guess I can slowwwwwly make my way down.
Even dead, I can lead the calvary
DM TreasureFox |
Nah I'd bring him back alive. I've been thinking of his afterlife. I thought it would have suited him to have fought glorious battles within the realm of Gorum.
Furnok's original body is not available at the current time. So we either need to reincarnate him, or come up with something else.
Furnok of Ferd |
Perhaps a side trip to Ustalov
Cleo could ride on my shoulders like Master Blaster
Cleo Gingerberry |
Nope, not happening... Aggah though!
DM TreasureFox |
If there was a way to balance you being a flesh golem, I would consider it. Immunity to magic and no constitution score kind of ruin the possibility.
I stumbled upon the Duskwalker outsider and I'm liking the general idea of you earning the right to come back for a second life. I would change the theme, however, since I think it's more fitting for Gorum to sponsor you rather than Pharasma.
You won incredible glory on Gorum's battlefield. When he looked upon you and saw your history, he deemed your death to have been a waste. There was much more potential for Furnok, and so he sponsored you by bringing you back into the material world. You retain all your memories (including your short afterlife, which explains how you got stronger). Gorum has left you with one condition:
- You must seek out stronger and stronger opponents to fight. If you fail to battle anything challenging within one year, you will be returned to my domain.
To make life simple, I would say that you look human, you use human stats and traits, but your type will be Outsider (native). You will be unable to reproduce (which you may find to be a boon rather than a curse). We can bring you into the game whenever you're ready, starting with you appearing in the Sandpoint Boneyard.

If you need any help DJ any of us would be happy to help... though you might end up a halfling :)

Gnomes rule.
Furnok, are you okay with this "backstory"?
And are we in agreement for no giant corgis?
If you're having a hard time finding a good animal companion, because I'm being a meany, here's some that I would suggest:
- Badger (honey badger)
- Boar (this would be a nice compromise for your herd of pigs idea)
- Cat, small (fire pelt cougar fits into the environment nicely)
- Dog (I know that the dog is inferior to the wolf. I'd be happy to give it the trip feature to help compensate.)
- Thylacine
- Giant Weasel
- Wolf
As a hard rule I would say no dinosaurs (they just don't exist on this side of the inner sea region). Large creatures may end up having difficulties getting into some of the dungeons.

A druid can handle her animal companion as a free action, or push it as a move action, even if she doesn’t have any ranks in the Handle Animal skill. The druid gains a +4 circumstance bonus on all wild empathy checks and Handle Animal checks made regarding an animal companion.

The druid may cast a spell with a target of “You” on her animal companion (as a touch range spell) instead of on herself. A druid may cast spells on her animal companion even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the companion’s type (animal). Spells cast in this way must come from a class that grants an animal companion. This ability does not allow the animal to share abilities that are not spells, even if they function like spells.

It is what hero lab tells me. Con 12, with 3 hit die of 8. Max hit points first three levels for her right?

That sounds awesome! Enjoy sir.

I saw a picture of something like that, Furnok. I don't remember where I saw it, but it was a funny modification to one's backpack so the halfling can stand on it.
Orik retired on that game, having made enough monthly income to live an aristocratic lifestyle. Not bad for a level 3 character! He helped clear out a mine of magic ore, and saved the dwarf who had a claim on it. Now he gets 1.2% of all the profits made by the mine for the remainder of his life, paid monthly. That came out to about 15gp/day, which for 5th edition was ALOT. He didn't have any other motivations that would keep him with the party, so I'm thinking he bought a house and is living it up with hookers and blow.
Currently I'm making a Gnome wizard who's obsessed with ancient ruins, legends, myths, etc. GM asked me to make it level 1, which is going to be quite the challenge when everyone else is roughly level 4.
Helgarr |
Hahaha, really cool on Orik's retirement Fox :D
I think 15gp a day is a LOT on any edition!
By the way, how are you finding D&D?
And why so harsh? Creating a level 1 character when all others are level 4?
DM TreasureFox |
For what I'm doing, which is dropping into a cafe to play d&d, I think 5th edition is perfect. It takes about 30 mins to make a character from scratch, and you just hop in. It's simplistic, but for the casual game that I'm playing, that's actually a good thing. I wouldn't be as interested in 5th if it were on forums. That's where I think the complexity of Pathfinder really shines.
I typically see systems as tool kits, each one used for different situations.
I'm not sure why he wanted me to make a 1st level character, but he said he had his reasons. When I first joined, I made Orik as a 3rd level fighter, so I dunno. I'm not fussed about it, but I am curious about what he has in store. In 5th edition, having level disparities isn't that big of a deal. I'll still be able to compete in certain areas, and since the regular characters don't have anything called intelligence, I'll dominate the knowledge checks.
The regular characters are:
- A NE half orc who is seeking riches in order to sponsor a war for her people
- A LE dragonborn cleric of Talos, god of storms and destruction
- A CE tiefling rogue who's backstabbed us but under sort of justifiable reasons...?
- A LN dwarf fighter who commands people and runs a crafting guild
Cleo Gingerberry |
It is the staggered that's killing her, well I mean she's slow normally but one move action is murder :)
Orik is not particularly bright right? He feel through the wall if I remember correctly. Your version seems a tab more intellectualy.
DM TreasureFox |
Your version seems a tab more intellectualy.
Ah it is the wisdom that is different. This is just the difference between pathfinder point buy, and 5e stat array. I gave RotRL Orik 12 Int, 10 Wis, 8 Cha. He doesn't have money, fame, or anything like that. In fact, he's scared of going back to his mercenary ways. He's always been screwed over, but getting suckered into a cult of lamashtu that wants to burn down a village that he kinda likes? That's a whole new level.
5e Orik has 11 Int, 13 Wis, and 9 Cha. So he makes slightly better decisions. Slightly. I figured since he had literally more money than he'd know what to do with, and money is his primary objective, he'd retire. He also had no attachment to the other party members, nor goals that aligned with the story.
