The door is unlocked, and opens with a simple push of the green button.

Beyond is an unlit room. Four vats sit on the floor of the room, each one about 4 feet tall and 4 feet in diameter, filled with a bubbling, green, opaque liquid. Each vat is connected by a maze of transparent flexible hoses to a wooden enclosure full of glass bottles and alembics.

Thorthal:
There is a pile of armour and weapons in the northeast corner of the room.

The liquid in the vats is impossible to see through, and Haer Kul is not tall enough to look at it from above.

Thorthal has found a half-dozen battleaxes and a half-dozen suits of studded leather armour. One of each seems particularly well-made.

Haer Kul will move to the wooden cabinet and begin looking at the glass bottles and alembics in the cabinet. If he can, he will start trying to identify the liquids in the glass bottles, taking 10 initially.

All of the apparatus is involved in feeding the liquid to the vats. If Haer Kul wishes to fully understand the liquid and process involved, he would need time, alchemical equipment, and to take samples of the liquid at various stages.

The party is prodded by Slick's impatience and, after bundling up the magic axe and armour, move on to the next door.

Haer Kul detects no traps on the door.

Haer Kul will see if the door opens with a key. If not, he'll spend a while trying to open with disable device: 10 + 7 = 17.

The door opens easily when the button is pressed.

The revealed room is lit by a glowing metal plate attached to the ceiling. The remains number of smashed cages and glass cases litter the floor, with the debris including a scattering of rocks, plants, and feeding dishes. A long table is against the south wall, holding many small glass dishes and jars. A trident sits on the table's west end.

BR-N3R intones, "Specimen Laboratory."

The group begins filing into the room as BR-N3R replies, "Fauna."

There is definitely magic in the room for Petronicus to detect, but he will have to wait until he can sort out the jumble of auras and eliminate those the party carries.

Haer Kul can see the cages and tanks were smashed by some sort of blunt instrument.

Slick discovers the blunt instrument when he goes to examine the trident, and the end of the table quickly transforms into a toothed blob which lashes out at him!

The creature lashes out again against Slick.

It smites Slick with a heavy blow, and the tentacle exudes a sticky slime. Slick is stuck fast to the creature, and it squeezes him for even more damage.

Slick slumps in the coils of the monster.

Note that if you hit the creature with a weapon (or natural attack), you must also make a Reflex save.

BR-N3R scuttles forward and climbs up on the table. Its tail arches over top of it, and a beam of energy shoots towards the gluey blob.

The fluid covering the creature changes a bit, and everything the creature is holding is released, including Slick and Thorthal. It then tries to smash Morgrom.

Note that you found 2 potions of Cure Moderate in the room with BR-N3R, and they went to Thorthal and Slick.

BR-N3R intones, "Recharging plasma torch. Analysis indicates direct contact results in this unit's destruction."

Both Slick and Morgrom are at death's door, but Morgrom is closer. However, the mimic is still grappling Morgrom.

In spite of Petronicus' interesting strategy, I am indeed waiting to give the CLW to Morgrom. I can take one of Morgrom's CMW and administer that afterwards.

Everyone:

Neil is correct. I am away, and internet is spotty. (ie. I have to choose between free WiFi or the beach and free booze. The WiFi is not winning.)
Haer Kul doesn't have very effective attacks. He's happy to deliver potions in battle, and be used as a trap detector/remover in non-combat. I'll be back Monday morning.
