Totally possible! You just take a -2 penalty to the attack roll for every range increment beyond the first.
Don't remember what the increment is for a shortbow, but as an example, a 30' range increment means no penalty within 30', -2 at 35-60', -4 from 65-90', and so on.
Okay. So they're 30 feet from the shore and 65 feet down. Would that be 30 feet in total or would the height play a role in that as well?
Height does count. Rather than involve Pythagoras I generally just use the greater distance--65' in this case.

It has its own caster level, 3. So it's going to be 3+[your highest mental ability bonus]

Guys, i'm in need of 2 players.
In the spirit of approaching Halloween, i'm composing a 1-shot from 3PP Publisher material, for a group of my PBP regulars.
Unfortunately, 1 is indisposed, and 1 i haven't heard the decision of yet.
If anyone'd be interested, it involves making a lvl 5 PC from PFS legal material, on a 10k budget.
The two that are on board are likely to be an UC rogue and a skald.
Sorry, I'm pretty wrapped up right now! Have fun, though.
Edward, I am interested. I play a lot of PFS so know how to build that character. Can you give me a few more hints on what will be needed? Like something about the setting. I would not want to build a character htan needs a mount to work well and find we are doing a lot of delving. Is the rogue a two weapon fighter? A strength build? Is the skald melee? Is ether a face character? If you are only gonna have 4 total, then the skald likely needs to fill the role of healer or melee. Else you will be missing divine or arcane support.
I'm guessing it'll be a 5 PC party, as one of them is asking a friend to join.
I don't know what builds they have in mind yet.
The setting would involve a small town and a forested area. Most likely involving missing persons, strange monsters and a curse.
OK. I'll come up with a concept and mail you later today. Thinking a warpriest at the moment.
