New class feature: Evasion!
New archetype class feature: Swinging Reposition!
Swinging Reposition:
At 2nd level, a pirate incorporates a ship’s masts, rigging, ropes, sails, and other such structures into her combat style. Provided she is wearing light armor or no armor, when fighting in an environment where such structures exist, the rogue incorporates them into her movement, and does not have to move in a straight line when making either a charge attack or bull rush combat maneuver. Once she completes her attack or maneuver, she can reposition herself. Immediately after making the charge or bull rush, she can move 5 feet as a free action, even if the charge ends her turn. This movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity. This ability replaces the 2nd-level rogue talent.

Thank you, Alabaster. It would be interesting to try out. I think that, looking at the wording, I am able to make charges and bull rushes on ships without going in a straight line. Shame that it can't be received without taking the pirate rogue archetype.
Also, nice character development in your post, Alabaster.

Could be interesting. Swashbucklers are focused on charisma. You would be a less effective bard. But, you would have panache, which does give you some added benefits. And a bonus feat. As well as other abilities. It's your choice.
If you do decide to take swashbuckler, consider the musketeer, picaroon, or corsair archetypes.
The musketeer archetype doesn't offer many changes. It gives you the addition of muskets.
The picaroon archetype allows the addition of one handed firearms. For example, at level 2, you gain weapon finesse with light or one handed piercing weapons, as well as the benefit if two weapon fighting when you wield a light or one handed piercing weapon in one hand and a one handed firearm in the other hand. Though, this might step on Alabaster's toes.
The corsair archetype, in my opinion, is optimal for this campaign. For example, you gain bonuses to intimidate (particularly, with demoralize) and give yourself and your allies bonuses to sailor checks. You also gain other benefits. Though, to receive the full changed benefits, you would to, at least, go to level 7 in swashbuckler.

In terms of Fortitude, the swashbuckler has slow progression for fortitude. It's saves are like the rogue's; fortitue and will don't get any increase until level 3.
Again, your choice and it could work as an interesting build. The panache and deeds can work to your favor.

I think he is also looking at getting more hp per level.
Don't blame you. Hard to give up. A couple level splash in swashbuckler does have some significant melee bonuses though. Need combat reflexes with it, imo.

So did we fail on making sure no one got the escape boat?

My father in law is having triple bypass surgery on Tuesday. I will be on the road traveling on Monday, at the hospital on Tues. and perhaps home by Thurs or Fri. depending on his recovery. During that time, I will be posting but times and frequency may be weird or spotty. My apologies in advance.

Yeah, it is. But, Isaac jumped into the boat after Alabaster... or we can say he's very dedicated to his job.
