Stranger in a strange land...:

As a young man coming of age in Alkenstar, Thomas Farlandar always dreamed of the exotic riches and beautiful woman of Katapesh. Tales of powerful shieks and even more powerful merchants would fill his head as he road the ranges of the Mana Waste. Always spending as much time near trader caravans to hear even a smidge, made up or not, of the amazing place. Learning to handle a musket with more skill than many of his peers, Thomas quickly made name for himself laying random shambling dead to rest from great distances.

Skilled in the saddle as he is with a musket, Farlandar racked up many trophies in the local races. Finally the day came when the boy had become a man,a man with tales of the Pathfinders rattling in his head. Making for Abaslom, the rifleman found what he sought in the form of the Grand Lodge. Managing to talk his way into the organization, he soon found his mission would take him to the land of his dreams. Given the names Garavel and Kelmarane, Tom gathered his gear, loaded his horse, and made for the port.

What might lay ahead? Will the deserts and villages be as amazing as he'd been told? A smile split his face as it did not matter, only the fact he was not tending aurochs in a blasted land stuck between two crazed empires. Trotting up to the ship that would soon take him abroad, Thomas slipped from his prized companion,Frizzen, walked forward to greet his new shipmates.

Thomas Farlandar is outgoing larger than life type who will fill the ranged fighter/skills role if picked up. I chose the Seeking Adventure trait. I will finish out the sheet if chosen.

I'd like to throw my hat in for consideration.

Background:
Somewhat short for a human Bhanbhagta Rana is a dark, swarthy man with black hair and dark eyes. He has a close beard and long moustache that hangs below his chin.

Rana, as his friends call him, grew up among a nomadic horse tribes of the steppes. He was a capable rider by the time he was 4. At the age of 13 he joined the other young men of his tribe to compete for the right to be one of the personal guard for the tribes new prince. A week long violent and bloody competition saw Rana and six other boys as victors. For the next two years the seven boys trained and lived together becoming fast friends.

For years the boys, now men, trained daily and guarded there young ward so that one day he would rule there tribe. Shortly after Rana's 20th birthday the boy prince and his entire family were assassinated. One of the seven, Nawang Kapadia, was bribed by a rival tribe to murder the royal family in exchange for being named Warlord of the combined tribe. Of the remaining six only Rana survived the attack on the family and then only barely. Rana knows that if it discovered that he still lived Nawang would spare no expense to have him killed.

For the last several years Rana has worked for a mercenary company called Falcon's Raiders. He enjoyed the life and comraderie as well as the protection the company provided. Eventually though he tired of not being able to set his own terms for who he worked for or what contracts were taken. He broke with company determined to make his own way and build his own company of mercenaries.

This last year Rana has been working for the Pathfinder Society running errands and solving problems. He sees his work for the Society as necessary if he wants to have his own company one day. Through the Society he hopes to build a reputation as a trustworthy problem solver and to gain contacts that will gain him the influence he needs to win contracts for his company.

There is still time. I'm not restricting anyone to only one submission. If anyone wants to make multiple submissions in an attempt to increase their chances, please do so.

In that case I'd also like to submit dear Sonja, here, a Human Theologian Cleric of Sarenrae. She'd be taking the Missionary trait. (This is Tassadan, btw, who is also submitting Targ Graklak) All info is in her profile.

With maximum wealth I bought him a couple of minor potions, I hope this is okay. I'm also tempted to get him a camel, though I'm not sure how much one would cost.

Thanks for reading!

Rena Shadowsong may be starting as a wizard, but she will multiclass rogue and eventually become an arcane trickster. i think the skill niche would be more fitting of her future planned role. tis not a good idea to allow initial class choices to skew one's perceived role.

Just to clarify, I'm going with Bard(Archaeologist) for Kito.

Noticed the Listings were a little light on Skilled Chars, so I'm submitting Cathal.

Story:

Both of Cathal's parents died in the events of Kelmarane. He was sent away to live with his Grandfather in a forest town of Thenn. His grandfather was a great archer in his prime, pride of the local guard, as his father had been, before leaving with his bride to Kelmarane. Cathal spent the years training under his grandfather, and when he heard tale of the reclamation of Kelmarane, Cathal decided to travel and aid the reclamation, and perhaps see what he could learn. As he left, his grandfather bequethed to Cathal his father's mail from his days in the guard, and sent on the road with only the words 'Be safe, and come back.'

Wow. This sort of exploded at the last minute, huh?

Good luck to all.

Dark Archive

Yeah, good luck to everyone who applied.

Probably a bunch of procrastinators like me that have been watching the thread for days while they mull over what they want to play.

Aakif is done, only need to elaborate on his appearance but the picture I chose to represent him is very close. Equipment cost me some time, especially since I was picking all things separately before I remembered the handy class kits from Ultimate Equipment (which are nothing but class appropriate collections of stuff)

A second character -- the divine ranks are looking a little thin.

Flavor:

A faithful follower of the Drunken Hero, Velos is always up for a drink, especially when it puts him in the company of adventurers seeking excitement. He is well-known for his cheerful demeanor and willingness to share the glory of Cayden Cailean with anyone who asks -- whether to heal a wound, or to rid the room of that nasty hangover from last night. To the latter end, his ability to magically fill water flasks is a literal godsend.

While not the most handsome, nor the sharpest of men, Velos is well above average in physical ability, and never hesitates to help someone in need. Often dispensing wisdom to those who ask, and, after a few drinks, even to those who don't, Velos loves nothing more than sharing the joy of good drink with others.

The thought of a world beset by evil scares him, not least of all because, where would he enjoy a good drink? Lately, a feeling that he must go out and make sure that all are free to drink and be merry has driven Velos to seek out adventure. He is not so ignorant as to think that all are as lucky as he, and that fills him with a great sense of indignation on the parts of the misfortuned.

Personality:

Velos is unequivocally chaotic good. There is no law that trumps the right to freedom, especially the freedom to enjoy a good drink, so should one choose. While he is no troublemaker, Velos has been known to help a drunk or two escape from the law, because it's not their fault they had one too many (the bartender should have cut them off!)

Still young, Velos lacks the wisdom of his elders, but seems to surpass his peers. While lacking in formal education, likely due to nights spent in taverns and mornings spent sleeping,

Build:

I'm thinking of trying something along the lines of the reach Cleric presented here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5kvBvq2DEHjRWctNG05X0JINm8/edit?pli=1

Velos has a longspear, morningstar and sling. His primary weapon is the longspear, for the reach it gives him and he uses the morningstar in case things get up close and personal. For armor, he wears a chain shirt.

His domains are Strength and Travel and he's got Create Water permanently memorized, because when you live in the desert... Light helps in dark caves and Detect Magic is a standby.

Summon Monster 1 helps distract enemies so that Velos can position himself better for AoO (he has Combat Reflexes). Comprehend Languages is good for solving drunken misunderstandings with other races and his campaign trait is Desert Child.

Rules Questions:

Regarding additional summons for Summon Monster: Would it be possible to add the Lyrakien Azata and Cassisian Angel to the Summon Monster 3 list? The Azata is from Bestiary 2 and the Angel is Core, IIRC.

For the latter, how unbelievably in-character would it be for a drunken Cleric to summon a winged helmet that flutters onto his head and tells him how to get home at night (Know Direction)?

I would call it my trusty drin-- er, thinking cap, granted to me by Cayden Cailean for being such a delightfully besodden adventurer. If I could do that, I would gladly trade Reactionary for Fortified Drinker (Cayden Cailean's trait), because it would be too flavorful to pass up. In which case, I would have to seriously consider carrying around a pocket flask of literal "liquid courage".

There's just something about wearing a minor angel as a winged helmet that I find hilarious.

Just a quick heads up. I have a meeting to go to this evening at 6 o'clock and probably won't be home until after 9:00. So I'm going to extend the submission deadline until 9 o'clock tonight. Which means I probably won't have the final decisions posted until tomorrow morning or afternoon at the latest.

@Velos the Merry- Yeah, sure. SM III sounds like a good fit for them.

Great!!Good luck to everybody!!

Background:

Turok is the last surviving member of an desert village that was attacked by gnolls. While out hunting a band of gnolls came upon the village and annihilated everyone within the village. Alerted by the rising column of smoke Turok rushed to the little village but came too late. Searching, he found his wife and daughter among the victims.
Placing their corpses inside his hut, he relit the structure so that the wind could carry their souls to their eternal rest. Once the flames died down, Tuork took the soot from the ashes and spread them across his face and body and took out after the war party.
Over the next few weeks Tuork stalked the band of gnolls striking at night and leaving death in his wake. Until finally he faced the warband's leader. in the battle to the death Turok fought with reckless abandon, not caring if he lived or died, until only he stood within the gnoll camp. Taking the chieftain's prized hyena as a token of victory Turok returned to the desert and Has since wandered the wastelands destroying gnolls wherever he can find them.Recently when he was in the little town of Solku Turok heard rumors of an expedition to retake the town of Kelmarane from the clutches of a tribe of gnolls who has conquered it. Intrigued and growing weary of the life he was leading, Turok sought out the caravan master and offered his services to help in the retaking and reestablishment of the town.

Good luck, everyone.

Hi GM, thanks for the response, have updated hit points for Antal's animal companion and have reposted their stats here. Apologies for confusion, when I said two traits from the player's guide I meant two traits from the Legacy of Fire campaign guide. Hope that's alright, if it's a problem and Antal's joining the group I can easily change it.

Backstory:

Antal grew up amongst a family of itinerant merchants. Relatively prosperous, they traded in Katapesh the city and many of the region's settlements, and Antal stood to inherit much. But then, a jealous cousin managed to disgrace Antal and turn the family against him, and for good measure engineered it so that Antal was sold into slavery.

For three years he worked as a slave at a lord's country retreat before escaping to freedom. Wandering the desert, he fell in with a nomadic tribe in the interior, the Isrin. He accepted their hospitality, and helped them to defeat their oases and families from raiders. From the Isrin, Antal learned how to ride, to fight, and to aid and protect the vulnerable. When it was agreed that it was time for him to move on and seek his destiny, they gifted him his steed, a blazing white pony that he calls Shariq.

Now Antal is a wandering soul. He has mixed feelings about returning to his family after the way they turned their back on him, and he would prefer to earn a great reputation before seeking them out. So lately he has been drifting, working as a caravan guard or mercenary in some places and in others just helping to defend the weak from the strong. He has a fierce hatred of slavery, and will do anything to thwart slavers or to set slaves free, especially halflings.

@MPL - sweet, thanks!

Also, it looks like I forgot to finish a sentence in my post. Deadline crunch'll do that to you. If you decide you'd like Velos in your campaign, I'll be sure to fix things up.

Just came across the thread, and hoping to duck a character concept in there. I would like to submit a Life mystery Oracle of Sarenrae, similar to a character I created for another campaign that fizzled very quickly - the concept was kinda fun, but rather than recycle the character, I feel the need to generate another. I'll try and post something more substantial before the deadline, but you can see the previous character here.

This is lowdown. I know it's a bit late, but I would like to submit Malavus Dawn for consideration.

And so we play the waiting game. Good luck to all.

It's the waiting game...
Its opponents say it's mighty tame...
But we play the waiting game...
Isn't it always the same...
Because we all want in the other game. ;)

Hey, it's me again.
Just wanted to tell you that I'm waiting on input from the returning players before finalizing my selections.
Good news is that I've already decided on two of the three palyers just waiting for a quorum on the third. Once I have all three in mind I'll post them here.
Bad news is that I'm going downtown with my daughter to do a little Daddy/Daughter bonding at Navy Pier and the Shedd Aquarium so I won't be home until later this evening.
I'll keep track of everything via my phone, but don't know if I'll have anything to post til later.

So this is a post to tell you I have nothing to post, sorry. Just trying to keep everyone informed.

Thank you for your patience.

I don't think spending time with your kid counts as bad news.

Unless her mother's Rosemary.

Sent you a PM, but just in case. This is the oracle I was hoping to submit, if it matters. Thanks for your consideration, and hope you had (or are having) fun!

I think they're just implying "Rosemary's Baby" in more words. :P

A typically antiantichristian point of view.

In fact, I did know that. I just didn't think anyone would care.

Could you change the arcana to undead bloodline because i forgot to put my bloodline as undead on my profile.

Thank you all and after much handwringing and hemming and hawing over the final decision I've chosen the following three people to join the crusade to free Kelmarane from the clutches of the gnolls who inhabit it.

Tassadan- Sonja Velfieren- Human Cleric (Theologian)
Alexander Michaels- Turok the Wanderer- Human Druid (Desert)
Mihajlo Velickovic- Badharkân- Human Ranger (Guide)

As for the rest of you thank you for make a difficult decision all the more harder. There are plenty of good characters here that hopefully someone will take heed of you all and decide to run a LoF campaign of their own.

The discussion thread is linked at the top of this page so please make your way over there and introduce yourselves and I'll try to get this game underway tomorrow.
