Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

Jaroslav looks back and forth to each of his new companions. Hardship is way of North. "Is saying in my country, 'Plan and think, but remember always, people who no move, freeze to death where they stand.'" He walks to Mickey and holds out his hand. "I yam making sacrifice, of own free will."
If Mickey hands him the ring, Yaro puts it on, takes out his dagger, and with a spurt of red, takes his finger off at the first knuckle. He grimaces, then immediately speaks a few soothing words over the wound. Fire dances across his hand leaving frost in its wake. The faint transparent image of a snowy white hare seems to cradle his hand for a moment in embrace and the skin is revealed unbroken. Jaroslav casts cure light wounds. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Jaroslav wraps the finger in a bit of cloth and packs it tightly in tobacco leaves from his pack.
He turns to the handprint, "Now, let us see where Fox and Hare have led us." And presses his hand into the indentation.

I am still here, just letting you guys decide what you want to do. If someone is wearing the ring let me know

Jaroslav's features take a slight elvish appearance, barely noticeable, but since you are looking for that now you can see it.

Jarsolav I need a fort save DC 12 but you get a bonus of +2

Jaroslav: (need a shorter nickname that's easy to spell)
you make the cut and scream out in pain. the sudden shock and blood loss you pass out. (you did not cast CLW)

Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

"You see, is nothing . . ." Jaroslav looks up from his bleeding hand. Both the dagger and severed digit fall to the stone floor. "I . . . yam . . . not feeling so good . . ." his face goes ashen, and while the smile does not leave his lips, it has a sickly quality now. "I yam . . . asking please for . . . ummm"
Before he can articulate what he is asking for completely, his face loses the last of its color, and the young man collapses in a heap.

DM of the coins |

Conner's Stabilize spell quickly ends the loss of blood. but yaro is still unconscious. it will probably take a few more minutes for him to recover.
Yaro is down 2 hp

Tatsuo Arashi |

Tatsuo flicks water in Yaro's face to try to rouse him. When he finally wakes up, he then pressing his waterskin on the man, encouraging him to drink. He then helps Yaro to his feet, waiting to make sure that he's not going to fall down again before letting him go.

Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

Yaro looks up sheepishly from the foor. He takes Yatsuo's hand and rises to his feet. "Good thanks my friend." He laughs at the others condemning statements. "Remember to others each of you is the barbarians" He then speaks a few soothing words over the wound. Fire dances across his hand leaving frost in its wake. The faint transparent image of a snowy white hare seems to cradle his hand for a moment in embrace and the skin is revealed unbroken. Jaroslav casts Cure Light Wounds (dice roll from above) He wraps the finger in a bit of cloth and packs it tightly in tobacco leaves from his pack.
Jaroslav turns to the handprint, "Now, let us see where Fox and Hare have led us." And presses his hand into the indentation.

DM of the coins |

As Yaro presses his now "deformed" hand into the indentation, the area glows sightly and after a few seconds a small portion of the wall opens like a door, revealing a small room no bigger than 5' by 5'
against the far wall of this small room is a sword resting on a stone Alter.
the alter is adorned with runes that do not seem to match any thing the party can recognize. you can guess that these runes seem to center around fire.
these are ancient Thassolinian runes

Tatsuo Arashi |

Would read magic help at all? If so, I cast it. Also, detect magic.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

DM of the coins |

read magic will not help as it is not magical writing.
along the blade of the sword runes (similar to those on the alter) begin to glow.
the reading is confusing. there seems to be magic hidden within the runes but it is locked somehow.
you can gather immediately that in the right hands this sword is a +1 long sword.
this weapon will grow in power as the wielder increases in level
this has all the markings of the legendary sword called "flamesinger"

DM of the coins |

The best interpretation you can get:
"behold, Flamesinger, one of the six runeswords, forged from the volcanic magma of the Isle of Sorcerery"

Tatsuo Arashi |

"As we thought, a longsword to be used by the person who cut off their fingers. It's magic, of course. Interestingly enough, it seems like it will grow in power as its wielder does. Quite a nifty trick."
Tatsuo walks away from the room and back towards the door.
"Now come. I think we've spent enough time in this room. Let's see what else there is in this vault."
He exits and starts walking down the stairs.
Same thing as before. If no light source follows, he will use 2 minutes of dancing lights. Past that, he'll cast light on his hat. And he'll have detect magic up.

Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

Jaroslav, perhaps a but unsteadily, walks over the alter and takes the sword up in his 'improved' hand.
He looks to the rest of the group, "Is gift of Fox!" Yaro swings it experimentally. As flames dance across the runes and blade, he gets an almost worshipful expression on his face. "Is beautiful . . ."

Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

Jaroslav looks up and watches his companions begin to file down the stairs. He chuckles at himself, Now why would these fine folks want to watch you stare at sword anyway. his laugh grows louder as he steps down the stairs himself, illuminating the way with the Ioun torch circling his head.
A discarded morningstar is the only thing left in the room as he leaves.

Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

Jaroslav accepts the weapon back with a smile. "Thank you my large friend. I yam being very forgetful." He packs the weapon securely in his pack.

** spoiler omitted **
not a problem it may be more interesting later on of course
I was just giving you the stats for your character sheet

Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

Jaroslav moves quickly to catch up with Tatsuo. "Thank you for early kindness. Was more than I was expecting, yes?" The young man continues to chuckle at himself. "Is unwise perhaps, but as said in my country, 'Is always the foolish rat who finds the cheese, the wise stay home and starve.' Now gift of Fox is mine. Is good." He grows serious for a moment. "Gifts of Hare and Fox are just that, gifts. But you show skills, read books. Would you look at ring that led to sword and tell if Yaro has greater worries for future?" He claps a hand to Tatsuo's shoulder. "You have thanks already, but as said in north, 'Do good or bad, village always expect more of same." He laughs again.
Would Tatsuo be so kind as to look at the ring. I need a spellcraft check, and Jaroslav is untrained in the skill.

Tatsuo Arashi |

"I'm sorry friend, but I already looked at it. It isn't something that I've seen before in my studies."
I believe Tatsuo already made a spellcraft check that I'm pretty sure he failed when he initially found the ring.

DM of the coins |

more than one check is fine, one may notice something that another missed. You can try again the next day or if something happens that causes the ring to have an unexpected effect on the wearer.

DM of the coins |

i may have made a mistake, the stairs go up not down. Sorry for the confusion
Down the cooridor and carefully assending the stairs the party has a better view of what lies beyond.
Atop the stairs the corridor continues another thirty feet then another flight of stairs go up. Ending at a door.
To your left, there is another corridor going about 20 feet ending in a door. This door is slightly ajar.
The far door is illuminated by the faint light you noticed when you came in.
The far door is closed, it appearsto be made of some kindof metal, but at this distance hard to tell what kind.

Tatsuo Arashi |

more than one check is fine, one may notice something that another missed. You can try again the next day or if something happens that causes the ring to have an unexpected effect on the wearer.
Does that mean I can make another one now? If not, then the below check is for the light up the second flight of stairs.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15"I would suggest we check that way first," Tatsuo say quietly while pointing down the left corridor. "Since the door is slightly a jar, I'd feel better knowing that there wasn't anything in there that was going to sneak up on us."

Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

Yaroslavl hangs back from the door to allow the sneaky people the chance to do their thing. (He has no ranks in stealth, and the light from hid Ioun torch might give them away.

Tatsuo Arashi |

Or you could just keep daze, and I'll cast message on you.
Tatsuo decides to hang back but casts message on Sam first. He also prepares to charge in and blast anything if need be.

DM of the coins |

sorry about the silence but lots going on.
peering through the open doorway you can make out a large room.
Level with the entryway is a 5 foot wide ledge which serves as a walkway around the upper level of this room. a stairway descends about 10 feet from the entrance to the lower level.
Small doors line the upper and lower levels of this room, each with a small brass plaque fastened to it.
Evidently, this was the NeMoren family mausoleum. Several of the doors have been wrenched from their hinges, and the smell of rotting flesh permeates the area.
#1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
#2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
#3: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
You think you can make out movement on the lower level you can also barely make out the sound of bones rattleing
on the floor of the center of the lower level you can make out several stones that look more valuable that a common rock and what looks like an old parchment
If you made the DC 20 you also made the DC 10

Tatsuo Arashi |

See that nobody fell into a fiery pit of doom, Tatsuo moves forward to glance into the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
His nose wrinkles at the smell of decaying flesh. Barely above a whisper, he says, "I suggest that we be on the lookout for undead."
He closes his eyes to concentrate briefly and a black dragon crawls out of his shirt. The dragon definitely looks like it would have been too large to fit inside the man's robes.
Sora's perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
She gives a soft hiss and a few sparks of electricity crackle along her scales only to be mirrored across her companion's hands as they keep a wary eye out for threats.
Tatsuo casts detect magic. If he doesn't detect any, he starts slowly prowling around the upper floor looking for dangers.

Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

Yaro listens carefully and pears into the light provided by Mickey's torch. perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
"Look out my friends! I hear bones of unquiet dead. I fear contents of coffins seek to drag us back with them!"
He draws Flamesinger and holds it at the ready.

I assume crossing the ledge needs no Acrobatics check ?
Letha walks along the upper ledge of the room to see if that provokes the undead. She has an blunt arrow nocked to her bow "We have to provoke them anyway. I'll blast them with holy energy if they prove very dangerous"
If the undead are not provoked, she'll walk slowly downstairs, five feet at a time.
