Will probably go Ninja, with the Trap spotter trick at lvl 2. This should also speed up things a bit. As you mentioned that we lost öur divine caster, you'll likely get that kind of class in recruitment. Which is fine by me.

Tatsuo Arashi |

you are welcome,
if you want to try out more combos and have the time, Avalon Academy is always recruiting,
I do not think I have time. :/ Thanks for the tip though. Maybe one day I will get to try my Magus/Swashbuckler who's going to go Duelist idea.

So I have a question about how gestalt works. So I know that you can't gestalt 2 prestige classes at once and you can't gestalt 2 variants of the same class. I also know there are issues with Mystic Theurge kind of already being a gestalt class.
I was planning on going Dragon Disciple later, which has +1 sorcerer level for spells/day and spells known at certain points. How does that work with this? I was thinking of trying to do sorcerer/DD on levels where I don't have that and summoner/DD on the levels that do, meaning that it would be a lot easier for me to learn 9th level spells since I'm no longer losing sorcerer levels. But that also kind of seems like I'm gestalting 3 classes, which seems like the same issue as Mystic Theurge?

♣♠Magic♦♥ |

You can't change classes from one side to another.
Think if it like two straight tubes.
One column is one side and the other column is another side. Each level is a ball, or a certain amount of water you put in. You can't put two of the same color in both tubes. And you have to keep all of the same color together. If you prestige class, all your units have to stay in the tube that your qualifying class is.

what you ask is not covered in the original source, and thus is subject to house rules and DM fiat
I treat every level as seperate like you'd have
Sum 1/Sor 1
sum 2/sor 2
sum 3/sor 3
sum 4/sor 4
sor 5/DD 1
Sum 5 DD 2
that kinda stuff taking the overlap at each level
others take it as you ignore the other half when you make your build
I've played under different DMs who play each way

Dragon disciple is a prestige class that improves sorcerer so it can only be applied to your sorcerer side.
you cannot have a caster level (with spells per day etc.) higher than your HD.

DM of the coins |

either way I am gonna have to say no. the whole idea of the staggered caster levels is because it is made up for with the other abilities.
by switching back and forth you are essentially removing the inherent balance factor.
gestalt is already good enough without having to do that.

![]() |

fair enough, though by switching back and forth he does miss out on all of his summoner abilities, and the bloodline abilities would overlap with the dragon diciple levels, so he'd be giving up on summoner casting, elodion enhancement and other summoner stuff and only gaining the sorcerer casting, in my opinion he'd be missing out more if he did the way he intended, but as you have made your ruling, it's kinda a moot point

a sign of good leadership is the ability to respect the advice of those under them. and as such due to your experience in the matter, Magic I defer the problem to you to decide...
just kidding...

DM of the coins |

guys question posted in recruitment...
thinking of taking both applicants

DB3, I was hoping for the second table of this game.
I like all the characters.

My dad is hauling me off with his buddies and making me go on a hunting trip with him all this weekend. So at some point today I'm going to drop off and you may or may not hear from me until Sunday.
I'm missing going to our town's convention, and going to kill things, so needless to say, I'm not too happy about it...
I would tell him I don't like to hunt, but this is the one thing he thinks I like to do with him, and if I told him I didn't like to do it, he would whine and bring it up all the time. My dad can be really petty.

![]() |

interesting
do you eat the meat afterwords?
also
here's something to console yourself with, boar is an invasive, rapidly breading, violent species, they damage property, eat constantly, and are generally a nuisance on both the natural world and on civilization.

DM of the coins |

OK all quick check..
who is ready to move on.
for the new people as well as the old:
to make things easier. we will go with these two have been with you from the start. and are currently with you now. please allow them a chance to be a part of the conversation regarding chopping off a finger. before actually doing it.
everyone should have 100 xp (even the new guys).

Maybe you can find some other common ground ?
Watching sports, fishing, i dunno.
Tatsuo Arashi |

I'm ready to move on.
Tatsuo Arashi is an Asian human male, fairly young. He's dressed kind of like a monk complete with a triangular hat and has storm clouds tattooed on his arms and a totally badass dragon tattoo over his left shoulder/chest.
He doesn't look like a figher, but you did see him make a centipede go SPLAT and two others almost go splat when he called electricity forth to zap all 3 of them at once.
The Baron of the manor recently died. In his will, he wanted everybody with a silver key to be gathered together. The keys opened a vault, which we are currently in, that is supposed to contain great treasure. But the treasure is supposed to be guarded, and by accepting this quest, we also took on a large debt that hopefully the treasure will cover.
We haven't gotten that far into the vault, but currently there's a handprint that we believe will open a door. But, in order to unlock the door, we believe that you have to cut off one of your fingers. Currently either Letha or Conner is planning to cut their finger off while Mickey and I do our best to provide medical care. Also, it's likely that one of the treasures we get by unlocking the door is a longsword specifically designed to be held by someone missing some fingers.
Result of cutting fingers off:
- you take a -1 attack penalty on all dexterity based weapon attack rolls.
- take a -2 on dexterity based skills that require fine manipulation.
- take a -2 on CMD vs disarm attempts.
- this is considered a drawback, so you gain 1 additional trait

I'm glad it was useful. :-)

Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

Yes, thanks. And here is a basic description of Yaro:
Before you is an undistinguished young man, brown eyes, brown hair. He is dressed in a sturdy set of clothes suitable for a long journey. A well-worn pack is slung over his back and a well-kept but little used morningstar hangs from a loop at his hip. A wide belt with sewn in chain wraps around him rising to just under his arms, and what can only be called a skirt made of overlapping strips of metal falls to his knees. A ball of flame about the size of a torch head slowly circles his head like a comet. A bone pipe hangs from his lips spewing thick smoke, and as you watch, he slips a sip of something from a flask retrieved from a pouch at his side. His smile is infectious and his eyes twinkle with amusement and joy; his gaze never seems to linger on any one thing for longer than a moment. As you turn away, just in the corner of your eye, you see the fleeting image of a red tailed fox chasing a snowy hare around his feet. But when you look directly, the image disappears.

Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

GM, I know Jaroslav is a mouthful (not to mention his full name). So he does have a nickname - feel free to use 'Yaro' anytime you wish. This goes for any character who would know him well and is comfortable with informal address.

Mickey Carver |

My spells prepared:
0
Virtue
Spark
Detect poison
1
Magic fang(amazing for monks)
Shillelagh
Ed, I would like to take the Breeze rare cantrip. I think it would be cool for Mickey to fly his kite with, since that's how he meditates.
If I can, replace virtue with breeze.
This will be my usual spells prepared.

DM of the coins |

breeze is cool (pun)
I use it allot, especially Janna my air elementalist sorcerer. I want to get it made perm on herself so she always has a constant swirling breeze of wind around her.

Jaroslav Robertovich Nadmieny |

GM. For the trait you mentioned for removing the finger. Can I take Heirloom Weapon for this sword? It would give proficiency for this weapon only, no other longsword. The trait specifies non-magical, non-masterwork weapon, but assumes the weapon comes with it for no cost. Considering the adventure, the trait has the perfect fluff.

DM of the coins |

I think it would work
Conner: you will have to find the other runeswords, but they will probably not all be in this vault.
this is supposed to be an adventure path...

♣♠Magic♦♥ |

I had an English teacher who only had 4 on one of his hands. He was pretty funny. Nice guy. Liked guns.
Anyways, you may want to see if you can change the lore to 7 now that we have another player. Would be neat if we all had one. And am I correct in assuming that they're not all the same kind of sword. Daggers and stuff would be cool.
I don't know why I'm saying this. You've probably got this done already. XD
