Lanarial lowers himself to the floor of the attic. The floor creaks as your feet touch it and you slowly move away from the rope to allow Alledueces down. Waiting for Alledueces to respond

Apologies I didnt update the map for the 2nd floor. Amigail and Elliana check to see where your tokens are if that is where you envisioned them. We will say Dargorath has moved inside since he on the main floor and talking loudly enough for Elliana and him to communicate.

Alledueces and Lanarial:
You move to the remains and see that it is the remains of two bodies. Likely humans from the size and shape of bones and skulls that you see. You see a satchel beside one of the bones and a few items. Clearly these bodies have been here for sometime

The creature moves up and quickly attempts to strike Amigail. The creature anticipates Amigail move before she can duck under the strike and you watch as the claw rakes her. Almost immediately her clothes catch fire. It then turns it flame enshrouded head towards the Elliana and glares at her as if drawn to the paladin. Amigail will take 5 points of damage and she will need to make a DC 14 Reflex check

Ack! I guess she'll try an Acrobatics check to avoid any AoOs; no idea how much of a penalty trying that on stairs will incur, but I'll roll the check now in a spoiler so you'll have it when Amigail's next turn comes around.

Still haven't passed the stone but the pain hasn't worsened, so the plan's to check back in again on Wednesday.

Alledueces and Lanarial:
Looking through the contents you find that scattered amongst the bones are 2 daggers, a ring set with 3 small green stones and five vials. Two of the vials are smashed and there contents spilled about the floor. Three other remain intact – 2 are inky black and the other almost appears transparent. The bag has begun to rot but you see that is full of gold coins.

Amigail you move to roll back away from the wraith heading for the stairs while Elliana watches on. As nimble as you are the wraith proves to be just as fast and it rakes at you once again but you dive out of the way and make it to the stairs. Go ahead and move your token to where you would like it Amigail

Elliana. Your move. Be aware if you stay within 5ft of the wraith at the end of your turn you'll take heat damage

Lanarial tells the Halfling about the potions, keeping one potion of spider climbing and giving the other two to his partner. He then examines the dagger and ring to determine their properties. Finally, he will be ready to enter the next room, longsword in one hand and the wand of burning hands tucked into his belt and ready to grab.

I couldn't live with myself if we just abandoned a child to his death. Thank you for the healing. Hopefully Alledueces will be a little more understanding if we succeed in rescuing the child and agree to a bit of rest before proceeding."

"I still think it is a foolish plan. He went up on an unstable building, not knowing what he would face above. If he ran into something he couldn't handle, would he be able to get to the rope in time? Furthermore, the stairs are blocked by the wraith, so he has no safe avenue of retreat, and we cannot get to his aid easily. Nor would we know he even ran into trouble. Stupid halfling. If things go wrong, there will be two more bodies in this house." Dargorath curses vehemently. "Attempting to slay the wraith, or at least getting the right tools to slay the wriath would make more sense."

Elliana, Amigail and Dargorath stand about halfway down the steps and look up. You watch as the wraith floats a the top of the landing watching you vehemently. It stays there for a little bit and then drifts back out of view.

Yes i do believe it helped, even if it didn't look like much now. Information was gained, this monster has a range limit, and we now know what part of that limit is...Also he can climb out how he went in no? that is why he brought a rope? there is no need for him to come down this way. Ellliana explains maintaining a calm while talking to the Dwarf Though we can discuss your willingness to abandon a child later, right now there is work to tend to

While Lanarial begins to examine the ring and the dagger Alledueces you turn around but are too slow to act as a dark shadow rushes you. The creature resembles a fire-blackened, emaciated child wearing a cloak of dusty cobwebs. Where its head should be you instead see a half-dozen tiny floating rat skulls. All of sudden you are both surrounded in aura of unnerving childlike whimpers, songs, and sobs.

As the creature barrels into you Alledueces you feel one of its miniature rat skulls bite into you. Take 3 points of damage and make DC 16 will save. Don't forget you make that roll at -1 since you are in its aura

Any living creature in this area loses the benefit of all bardic performances affecting it and takes a –1 penalty on all attack rolls, damage rolls, and Will saving throws. Roll your save and then we will move into Round 1

On the main floor Elliana, Amigail and Dargorath continue their discussion on what to do next. With the wraith no longer there and three of you at bottom of the stairs you begin to wonder how Alledueces and Lanarial are doing.

Attic crew:
Alledueces you immediately feel your lethargic following the bite by the creature. Alledueces: You are now fatigued

The creature bites at Alledueces again and one of the little rat heads tears through Alledueces clothing finding it's mark. Take 2 damage and Will save DC 16 again

It takes Alledueces a little time to register just exactly what this thing is but he recognizes it from an old nursery rhyme Whispers in the Attic used to scare the children from wandering about. The creature is called an attic whisperer. It can steal a person's voice and mimic it. Also it's bites will drain you causing you to eventually fall asleep. Once asleep you stay like that until the creature feeds off of you or the creature is killed. You also know the creature is undead.

Lanarial's fan of flames barely nips the dusty cloak of the creature.

Alledueces steps away from the Attic Whisperer and throws his roof tile into the shadows through the doorway and peers into the now lit room looking for evidence of the missing child. But being panicked by the circumstances is barely able to get more than a glance that way. Unless the kid is sitting right there, there is no way Alledueces is seeing any evidence of him.

I think it might be time to make our retreat...

Lanarial... I see the boy forget trying to fight this thing and get him... I have an idea of how to distract this thing for you... It's a longshot though...

A take 10 on knotted rope should get you there fine...unless you can't make DC climb on a take 10? Its a str based check so even with ACP it is not a complete disaster.
