Amigail Trentwell |
...and a longsword in his other hand! ;-)
Sweet! My instincts told me you were armed but then I saw the wand mentioned in a recent post and assumed that was all you had in hand.
GM Aumakua |
The zombie lurches forward giving Amigail a partial opening. Deeper in the room the sounds of more zombies move closer.
Amigail you can make an aoo against this zombie. Zombie gets partial coverage +2 AC
GM Aumakua |
The zombie slowly lurches forward catching Amigail's falcata in the shoulder but is unable to attack Elliana.
ROUND 2
Elliana swings her scythe but is unable to maneuver the scythe in a position to hit the zombie. She quick moves back but not before watching as another two zombies take position behind the current one.
Everyone but Elliana. Your Turn
Nhilune Rilyn'rahel |
Again, Nhilune is left with not much to do but ready her dagger.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Lanarial |
(As burning hands is a 15' cone effect, can we assume any zombies in the room would have taken fire damage from the two discharges?)
Lanarial sticks the wand near the door and uses another charge to flamespray the room again!
Fire damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
GM Aumakua |
Lanarial: Not the two new ones
The flames fans into the room again not fully catching the zombies.
Amigail and Alledueces. Your Turn.
Amigail Trentwell |
Amigail tries to time her slashes at the zombie in the next room not to interrupt Elliana's.
mwk falcata: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 for slashing damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Alledueces Undertow |
Alledueces finding himself completely blocked off from the fight just watches waiting for an opening.
Put Alledueces on delay please.
GM Aumakua |
Amigail's blade completely misses the zombie and instead cuts into the rotting door frame causing chips of wet wood to fly about.
The zombie attacks Elliana, but the paladin brings up the snaith of her scythe to meet the crature's flailing arm. The other two zombies unable to move further start pressing against the zombie in the doorway.
Zombie slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Party's Turn.
ROUND 3
Elliana Nym |
Elliana responds though unexpectedly in a different language, it seems as though she is unaware however. As she swings her Scythe.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
thank you, we just need to keep fighting. they won't use any fancy tactics. Though if anyone has Holy water now is the time
GM Aumakua |
The scythe cuts the zombie down cleanly slicing through the zombie's legs.
Amigail Trentwell |
OK, I think Amigail's gonna pull an infamous "Hold my beer--I wanna try something" stunt here. Assuming that Alledueces has been renewing the light spell on her, she'd like to move 2 squares (to 7F) and then use Acrobatics to move another square north (to 6F)...assuming there's no obvious threat in the area currently hidden on the map. The Acrobatics check would be to avoid provoking AoOs, and Amigail would take 10, assuming that's plenty to avoid even two slow-moving zombies. Then she'll take a hack at the zombie in 7G.
If she sees something(s) big & scary to the north, she'll abort the Acrobatics and just hack at zombie 7G.
Acrobatics - Take 10: 10 + 10 = 20
Acrobatics (If No Take 10): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
mwk falcata: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 for slashing damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Moved Amigail to halfway point between squares 6F and 7F.
GM Aumakua |
Since you would be putting yourself in immediate danger I would rule you can't take 10 in this situation Amigail.
Amigail runs into the room and quickly rolls to the left making past the outstretched hands of the zombies. As she comes out of her roll she slashes with the falcata and misses
map updated
Lanarial |
Lanarial tucks the wand into his belt pouch and stands ready to use his longsword against the creatures. He will follow Elliana in - the fighter-types should take point anyways!
Dargorath |
Dargorath continues to give Elliana guidance, having no intention to get into a melee scrimage with those zombies. Erastil knows what foul diseases they have on their dead bodies. he thinks to himself.
Nhilune Rilyn'rahel |
Nhilune takes a deep breath and steps forward beside Elliana. How brave! She holds her dagger at the ready still, just waiting for anything to come in range of a good stabbing.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
GM Aumakua |
Alone in the room the zombies turn on Amigail looking to beat her to a pulp. The first attack she anticipates the strike and steps to the side. As she does this she raises up her buckler and blocks the incoming blow of the next zombie.
zombie G7 slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
zombie G6 slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Party's Turn
ROUND 4
Amigail Trentwell |
Amigail had more faith in her ability to slip unharmed past the zombies than she has in her ability to hack them down. She again attempts to reposition herself to a position where she'll be flanking with Elliana or another ally who enters the room to engage the last two zombies.
Acrobatics to move to square H5 without provoking AoOs, then ready an attack on zombie in G6 when an ally steps into square F7 to provide a flanking buddy.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Readied Attack:
mwk falcata (flanking): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 = 13 for slashing damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Lanarial |
Waiting on the paladin to step up and into the room! =)
Alledueces Undertow |
OK guys I'll lead the charge... After me... AAAAAHHHH!!!!
Alledueces moves into the room and jabs at the northernmost Zombie to draw its attention away from Eliana, but fails to draw its attention.
attacks to aid Elliana's attack.: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (9) - 3 = 6
AC of 15 till start of next round. Should be drawing aoo from both Zombies.
Dargorath |
"Are you guys crazy? We had a perfectly good blockade until you all decided to charge in like lunatics."Dargorath berates the entire party. "Does it really do much more good exposing more of us to their attacks?"
Waiting for Elliana to use her guidance so I can get her a new one
Elliana Nym |
Sorry for the hold up i've been incredibly busy with work lately...Also forgot about the guidance actually, using it!
Elliana steps into the room swinging her scythe once again
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1) + 6 = 10
GM Aumakua |
The zombies attack as Alledueces rushes drawing their attention. The halfling slips under one attack but runs right into the other as the second zombie slams with a fist throwing against the wall. Alledueces takes 9 points of damage
Zombie G7 aoo: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Zombie G6 aoo: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Using the advantage giving to her by Alledeuces, Elliana steps into the room and delivers a devastating blow to one of the zombie causing it to almost drop.
Dargorath, Lanarial and Nhilune. Your Turn.
Lanarial |
Lanarial continues to wait to follow Elliana into the room...
GM Aumakua |
Elliana has entered the room this round Lanarial if you would like to go. Alledueces already used up the zombies aoo for this turn
Lanarial |
Ah yeah - thanks!
Lanarial follows the Halfling in, wincing as the zombies attack him but using his misfortune to move all the way around to the back of the room and flank one of the undead creatures with Elliana. He thrusts at it with his longsword, hoping to end it's existence quickly!
Attack + flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
GM Aumakua |
Lanarial cuts down the zombie. Leaving only one now surrounded by the group.
The zombie continues to attack Alledueces who is only now regaining his senses after being hit by the zombie. The zombie pounds the halfling again. Alledueces takes 5 points of damage. Don't forget to update the aoo damage as well Alledueces. Think that puts you at 2 hp?
Zombie G6 slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
ROUND 5
Party's Turn
Nhilune Rilyn'rahel |
Unsure about going in the room herself, Nhilune remains beside the door, ready to stack the first dead-looking thing that comes out of it.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Alledueces Undertow |
dagger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Alledueces swings at the zombie that had struck him, putting all the strength he had into the swing.
Amigail Trentwell |
Amigail takes a deep breath and concentrates. Flanking opposite Elliana, there's no reason she can't hit the slow-reflexed undead before her. Exhaling, the young woman hacks at the zombie.
mwk falcata (flanking): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 2 = 24 for slashing damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
GM Aumakua |
Alledueces with new found courage – or maybe just the will to survive – drives his dagger into the zombie and quickly falls back as Amigail finishes the creature off with a heavy slash from her falcata.
With the zombies dead you look around the room. A well is set into the northwest corner of this long room. Much of its low retaining wall has collapsed, scattering bits of stony rubble and broken bricks around it. Six dusty oak barrels, all swollen with age, line the south wall.
Amigail Trentwell |
"Heal up now, if you need to," she whispers to the others while looking at Alledueces. To Dargorath, she sheepishly says, "Sorry about that--I didn't expect anyone to follow me. I got a bit impatient--I thought we were going to let one zombie come out of the doorway where we could all attack it rather than Elliana going one-on-one with both of them."
Seeing that the oak barrels haven't been touched in a long time, Ami ignores them and instead moves to the next door, listening at it.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
GM Aumakua |
Amigail you press your ear against the cold, damp wood but do not hear any noises coming from the other side of the door.
Alledueces Undertow |
. Sorry about that... But I was feeling useless. I saw Amigail go in and everyone else seemed to afraid to go in and help her. I wasn't going to let her face those things alone.
Alledueces casts detect magic and begins poking around to see if there is anything of interest in the room or on the corpses.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
GM Aumakua |
As you cast your divination and circle the room you are immediately drawn to two things. The dagger that you see Nhilune is clutching in her hand and another set of auras located behind the barrels.
Alledueces Undertow |
Nice magic dagger Nhilune. Hey guys there's another magical aura behind these barrels.
Alledueces pokes his head behind one and takes a look. If he can't see anything then he'll try and move the barrel.
Amigail Trentwell |
Ami quietly reports having heard nothing beyond the next door and walks over to help Alledueces reach whatever's behind the barrels...if she can.
Amigail's only got a Strength score of 11, so she'll probably not be a lot of help if barrels need moving. She can stand guard while they're moved, though, or maybe chip in an Aid Another.
Amigail Strength (Aid Another): 1d20 ⇒ 4
Never mind! ;)
Dargorath |
Dargorath comes over to help.
Str assist: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
"Oof! That's how you do it, boy!" Dargorath grunts while he helps Alludueces roll the barrel out of the way.
Lanarial |
"I'm good on pain management, but the Halfling is looking pretty rough right now...any magic left in that wand, Nhilune?"
Dargorath |
"And that healing wouldn't be necessary if all of you didn't decide to take foolish risks by charging into the room!"Dargorath berates the group. "We could have fought them one at a time at the doorway! But oh, what do you do? Think you're in some kind of tale and charge into the room without even thinking about any kind of strategy!
GM Aumakua |
With the combined effort of the three of you move the barrel to one side. Doing so spills some of the contents over the rim of the barrel but other than the foul smell it gives off nothing else happens.
Behind the barrel you see an open niche in the wall about a foot off the ground. Alledueces reaches into the cavity and pulls from it a small bundle of oiled cloth. In the cloth he finds six vials of slightly violet color and a slender wand made of reddish wood.
Alledueces Undertow |
Alledueces casts detect magic and ties to identify the potions.
spell-craft to identify the potions: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
perception to identify a potion by taste: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Unable to determine what the potions do Alledueces turns his attention to the wand.
spellcraft to identify the wand: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Nhilune your good with potions. Any idea what these ones are?
