Alledueces Undertow |
I hate to admit it Lanariel but you may be right... we've been through allot and we had no idea what were in for. We haven't even made it to the cult members hideout. It feels like wer'e failing Basila though.
Alledueces looks at the map to see how much further it is to the cult hideout.
GM Aumakua |
Alledueces roll me a knowledge local check. Higher the better
Alledueces Undertow |
knowledge(local): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Alledueces has spent very little time in the sewers and is prolly a little turned around from all the fighting.
GM Aumakua |
Looking at the map after all the twists and turns you know this map poorly reflects any accurate scale. The map shows that continuing west will take you to the end of the path indicated on the map.
Amigail Trentwell |
Amigail puts a hand on Alledueces's shoulder in a show of support.
"Why don't we press onward west but keep our eyes peeled for a grate or something that leads back to the surface? If we find a way topside, we can rest up and then return to the sewers from that point."
Lanarial |
"If nothing else, we can scout out what's ahead and retreat if we come up against any other creatures. But any more clashes will be disastrous for me..."
Dargorath |
"We could always go back the way we came if we're to get back to the city. If anyone had any of those healing wands, now would be a good time to use them. Mine got stolen by some bloody pickpockets. One more reason why I dislike cities."
GM Aumakua |
You stand in the cistern room trying to figure out what to do. As you go through your next steps you have a variety of options available to you. You know whatever you decide to do you should do soon as each moment gives the cultists more time to infect the city and escape.
Nhilune Rilyn'rahel |
"Oh, Bahram gave me this when we left... " Nhilune mumbled as she drew a wand out from where she'd tucked it away. She stepped in towards Lanarial and gave him a gentle prod with it.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Not satisfied with how beat up Lanarial still appeared, she did it again.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Well, that was a bit better. He looked less likely to fall over under the pressure of a big sneeze.
"Is anyone else experiencing the discomfort of extreme pain?" she asked the others, giving each of them a quick once over.
Lanarial |
Lanarial thanks Nhilune for the magical healing, then nods to Amigail and Elliana to resume their journey forward. He causes his dancing lights to appear and light their way as they go.
GM Aumakua |
You continue down the west tunnel that you watched the wererat flee down. You keep your eyes looking for anything suspicious not only in case the wererat returns but according to the map your destination ends somewhere along this tunnel.
Perception check everyone
Nhilune Rilyn'rahel |
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Nhilune keeps a wary eye out for trouble...
GM Aumakua |
Ready to find fresh air again you push even though you can feel the weight of this night's events all through your body. With little else to go on you keep an eye out for any sort of exit that would correspond with the map Alledueces is carrying.
You have probably traveled no more than ten to fifteen minutes when you notice a small hole in the side of the wall. The hole covered by some rubble and refuse is probably no wider than 2-1/2 feet in diameter. Taking a quick look the tunnel seems to wind around and the walls are unworked stone unlike the typical mason walls you have seen while in the sewers.
Amigail Trentwell |
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Not having the sharpest eyes, Amigail keeps general watch and allows someone else to examine the smallish hole if they'd like.
Lanarial |
The wizard waits for a fighter type to check out the rat hole!
Alledueces Undertow |
Alledueces looks at all the larger people and shakes his head laughing a bit...
I'll look If all you big people are scared.
The Halfling creeps up and peeks a look into the hole.
stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
GM Aumakua |
Everyone but Alledueces will need to crawl to check out the hole. So far it sounds like Alledueces leads the way followed by Elliana. Anyone else following?
GM Aumakua |
Alledueces you will need to light a torch or some other light source to see, but from what you can see at the edge of the opening is a winding passage that you can't determine how far it goes in.
Alledueces Undertow |
The small gnome looks around till he sees a small rock... He picks it up, casts light on it and tosses it into the tunnel to see if something jumps out at him from the dark.
GM Aumakua |
The rock travels about five feet before it sharply hits the bend in the tunnel. Nothing comes out of the tunnel but you do notice the passage seems to continue deeper.
GM Aumakua |
Elliana: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Giant rat: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
You are forced to crawl along to navigate this cramped tunnel. After winding through the earth for about 20 feet, the tunnel finally opens into a small kidney-shaped cave with a low ceiling. The floor is littered with reeking garbage and all manner of useless junk. The single occupant of this small cave is a giant rat over five feet long that can barely fit in this cave. It squeals at you as it rushes you.
ROUND 1
1. Elliana, Alledueces
2. Giant rat
No map for this encounter. The cave is 5 ft wide and 15 feet long. The rat is currently 10 feet away from you. The tunnel is also five feet wide so you can only fight the rat one at a time. Also remember Elliana is crawling on her knees so any weapon will need to be a one handed weapon. Also let me add Crawling: You can crawl 5 feet as a move action. Crawling incurs attacks of opportunity from any attackers who threaten you at any point of your crawl. A crawling character is considered prone and must take a move action to stand up, provoking an attack of opportunity.
Elliana, Alledueces. Your Turn.
Alledueces Undertow |
Get out of here... I'll cover your retreat best I can...
Alledueces waits for Elliana to move back then sets himself between the rat and her in a defensive posture.
Alledueces is total defensive as a standard and keeps up with Elliana's double crawl move with his move action. At least the rat is big enough that he should be squeezing too.
GM Aumakua |
You quickly retreat moving back as fast Elliana can move down the tunnel. When the rat moves up to attack you see that the rat can only squeeze its head out of the cave opening the rest of its body clearly too large to leave the cave.
Lanarial |
"What in Gozreh's name is the commotion down there?" Lanarial calls into the tunnel...
Alledueces Undertow |
Alledueces looks at the rat obviously unable to follow and sighs...
Good luck for us . Eh?
He pulls out his crossbow and lines up a shot and pulls the trigger.
small sized crossbow +0 (1d6) Alledueces has 15 bolts left. Just need to know how many bolts till the rat is dead, or runs off.
Nhilune Rilyn'rahel |
The OOC reason for not healing everyone up to full is because she can't see the numbers beside your names the way I can and doesn't have deathwatch. She did ask who else needed aid and the only person who said anything before my next post healed themselves ;D
"Just the one rat?" Nhilune calls to the two who had gone to explore the tight tunnel. She was quite sure she was sick of big swarms of the rodents. "Do you require assistance?"
While she waits, she gives the gruff Dargorath a poke with the wand.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
"I'm not sure what 'fully fix' would mean in regards to health. Hangnail fixes aren't really my specialty..."
GM Aumakua |
Alledueces: 1 bolt sends the rat back deeper into the cave as it can't squeeze out of the cave.
Dragorath: The rat you would learn from Alledueces is trapped in the room. The tunnel and entrance into the cave are too small for it to fit.
Alledueces Undertow |
So if we decide to fight the rat it looks like only one person can go in there. We could prolly use the wand of summon monsters to keep the rat busy a few seconds and then give them a flanking ally. So anyone ever wanted to cage fight a giant rat?
Amigail Trentwell |
"Could you see if the tunnel continued beyond where you encountered the rat? I'm more of a mobile fighter than a toe-to-toe combatant, but I could give it a try if there's something to be gained."
Alledueces Undertow |
I really didn't get to good a look, but there was allot of bones and junk in there. I was wondering if maybe there was a tunnel I didn't see or maybe a way to climb out. I mean that thing must be getting food from somewhere. Although who knows... Maybe some sort of goblin or kobold thinks of it as a pet and feeds it,
