Appearance
Wiry and lithe, Amigail doesn’t appear to be a very imposing warrior. She looks like a nondescript sellsword…until she draws her falcata and takes the stance of a Taldan duelist. Ami’s sandy-brown hair is shoulder-length and straight. She’d be prettier if she smiled more.
Personality

Amigail was born in Cassomir and has lived in the city all her life. Her father, Nathan, once served in the Taldan Imperial Navy but was discharged when found liable for an onboard accident that badly wounded three of his compatriots. Nathan was beaming with pride when his only child, Amigail, was also accepted into the navy’s ranks. Alas, she lasted less than a year before being dishonorably discharged herself for stabbing the son of one of the shipmen her father had nearly killed years ago. Although this jerk was the instigator, blaming Amigail for his father’s impairment later in life and trying to force himself upon the young woman in a fit of rage and madness, he had friends who backed up his version of the encounter, in which Amigail used a dagger to fight off the assault.

After hearing what had happened to his daughter, Nathan Trentwell sought out and confronted his old shipmate and his lustful son, and in the ensuing fight killed the older man. He’s now serving a long sentence inside Swift Prison for the crime, leaving Amigail to care for her mother in their shabby home in Admiral’s Fen. Amigail briefly adventured with a group called Crantor’s Gang but found their company to be most unappealing. Now she’s looking into joining the Cassomir constabulary.

Nathan often frequented the Pike and Tankard, occasionally drinking to excess in the dark days following the naval discharges of both himself and his daughter. He was on friendly terms with Vasaro, with the two sharing old war stories on slow nights. Now Amigail spends a few nights each week at the tavern, taking a meal and then nursing a few drinks into the night.

Although acquainted with the owner—who knows her to be the daughter of his former regular—Amigail’s not very outgoing and probably wouldn’t be considered a ‘friend’ of the innkeeper. The warrior woman earned his respect and some brownie points one night, however, when she stepped between an inebriated man who was getting too ‘friendly’ with Basila, ‘accidentally’ delivering a shield bash to the ribs when the man refused to halt his unwanted advances.

Buckler Bash (Ex): At 2nd level, a buckler duelist can perform a shield bash with a buckler (use the same damage and critical modifier as for a light shield). This ability replaces Bravery.

Taldan Duelist (Combat): You trained at one of Taldor’s elite fighting schools and are skilled at rondelero, the art of fighting with the falcata (see the Advanced Player’s Guide) and buckler. Prerequisite: Dex 13, Exotic Weapon Proficiency (falcata), Shield Proficiency (buckler), Weapon Focus (falcata).
Benefit: When fighting with the falcata and buckler, your shield bonus to AC increases by +1 and you gain a +2 bonus on Acrobatics checks.

VASARO: A tall lean man in his early 50s, with hawk-like features, greying curly black hair, and a twisted beak of a nose, Vasaro was born in Cassomir to common labourer parents. He would leave Cassomir and spend almost 20 years serving in the Taldan Phalanx in Zimar.
During his military career, Vasaro skirmished with many Qadirans on the border of both nations and grew to detest any who show any sign of Qadiran blood in them.
Following his career in the miliatry he joined up with a group of adventurers that operated out of Zimar and explored the lands of Qadira. His adventuring career came to abrupt end when his group stumbled into a hidden gnoll warcamp. He was caught and enslaved for several years. He would be freed by a group of Qadirans known as the Blades of the Dawnflower, as he and some other slaves were being taken to the slaver markets to be sold. His feelings about Qadirans changed after they freed and returned him to Zimar. He stayed in Zimar and met the woman whom he would marry and give birth to his daughter, Basila. When his wife died during childbirth with his infant son he packed his belongings and moved back to Cassomir with Basila.
His hatred for gnolls is obvious to any who step foot in his establishment by his collection of stuffed gnoll above the inn’s fireplace the nearly 9-foot tall not-so-well-preserved body of a gnoll chieftain standing in the taproom.
BASILA: Basila is Vasaro’s 17-daughter. Energetic, darkeyed, and voluptuous, Basila is Vasaro’s greatest treasure and only remaining family member, after the loss of his wife and son 12 years ago during childbirth.
Though she's a pretty thing, Basila is far from a brainless doxy. She has a good head for numbers, warm and welcoming with the inn’s customers who deserve it. Those who attract her ire get to hear about it very quickly.

BUCKLER DUELIST ARCHETYPE

These duelists use their bucklers both to defend themselves and to launch unexpected strikes while chopping and hewing at their foes’ unprotected bodies and heads with their falcatas. They wear any type of armor, but favor bucklers, and are comfortable using both hands for offense and defense.

Buckler Bash (Ex): At 2nd level, a buckler duelist can perform a shield bash with a buckler (use the same damage and critical modifier as for a light shield). This ability replaces Bravery.

Buckler Catch (Ex): At 3rd level, a buckler duelist can catch his opponent’s weapon between his buckler and his forearm, effectively wedging the hafts of polearms and hammers or the flats of blades. This functions as a disarm combat maneuver, and the buckler duelist gains a +4 bonus on the roll. If the buckler duelist’s attack fails by 10 or more, he suffers a –2 penalty to his AC until the start of his next turn. This ability replaces Armor Training 1.

Strong Swing (Ex): At 5th level, a buckler duelist gains a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls when wielding a falcata and buckler that applies to attacks made by either hand. These bonuses increase by +1 for every four levels beyond 5th. With a full-attack action, a buckler duelist may alternate between using his falcata or his buckler for each attack. This does not grant additional attacks or incur penalties as two-weapon fighting does. This ability replaces Weapon Training 1.

Armor Training (Ex): At 7th level, a buckler duelist gains Armor Training 1, and can move at his normal speed in medium armor. At 15th level, the buckler duelist gains Armor Training 2, and can move at his normal speed in heavy armor. This ability replaces Armor Training 2.

Chopping Blow (Ex): At 11th level, as a standard action, a buckler duelist can make a single melee attack with a falcata. If the attack hits, he may make a sunder combat maneuver against the target of his attack as a free action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity. This ability replaces Armor Training 3.

Suggested Feats: Exotic Weapon Proficiency (falcata), Improved Shield Bash, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Power Attack, Shield Slam, Shield Master, Duelist, Two-Weapon Fighting, Weapon Focus (falcata), Weapon Specialization (falcata).
