The tiles in the upstairs bathroom were icy cold and slippery as we were adding new blinds throughout the house and the cold night air seeped inside the room. I slipped, slid across the floor and smashed my face into the sharp bath seat corner, landing on my thumbs. Sigh. Only I can do this trick, No icy side walks in my part of Oz (we get no snow in my area and the temperatures don't get below 6-8 deg celsius in winter).
Off to bed as it's almost midnight here and I can barely breathe from this stupid virus. Night!
Good Lord! Ow! Take care of our friend better than that!
I hope you're feeling better soon!
As an aside, one of my favorite YouTube channels is a guy called OzzyMan, an Australian who posts funny commentary about videos. His "Destination F'ed" videos are often very funny. But when videos show people sliding on ice it's like he's watching some alien planet. His self-satisfaction at never having encountered it in real life is almost as funny as the commentary.
I was an OzzyMan regular during Game of Thrones. ”Now Robyn will have to buy his milk at the supermarket.”—that line even cracked my wife up, though it’s so wrong.
…and best left unexplained to those who didn’t watch the show.
Alright, my friends! I am off to GenCon in the morning and won’t be posting for the next week. Please expect me back on or around Tuesday the 9th of August. If I am the GM for this game, I’ll see ya then! If I’m a player, please feel free to bot my character as appropriate.
Stay safe and I’ll talk to you all in a week!
PS: I’ll be away the whole second half of August, too. Nerd vacation now, family vacation then. :-)
My cat’s seriously injured and can’t walk on his own. I’m his nurse (carrying, lifting, medicating him) until his surgery next week. I won’t be back on the boards until next week. Sorry about all this personal upheaval. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
@Tilly, Poor cat and poor you! I’m sorry life isn’t giving you a break lately!
@Tarondor, I apologize for this, but will need to drop out of this and several games. Here’s what I posted on Discord a few minutes ago:
Hey, all. I just made a decision to drop pretty much all of my PF games. You may have noticed I have consistently played with heart and enthusiasm, but lately I think I come off more like a zombie nudging a d20.
It’s in part because I really have to get my butt in gear regarding the job hunt, and in my current state of mind, dice math, loot and leveling just feel like additions to my list of chores.
So sorry to do this, and also that I spent x months following the predictable patterns of Guy About To Bow Out Of Game(s) instead of just pulling the band-aid off.
Just know it’s not anything you did as a GM or PC teammate. It’s the toxic workplace.
Just a heads up I am headed off for a week's vacation starting tomorrow. I will have a computer and an internet connection, so I'm planning to post as usual. But sometimes plans go sideways, so if I'm quiet for about nine days or so you'll know why!
As previously mentioned, I am on vacation. I may be around a bit this weekend (August 20-21), but then I’ll be gone until at least August 28. See you ‘round!
Unfortunately, hubby gave me coronavirus as an anniversary gift (today is our wedding anniversary) - I tested positive, this morning. If I’m slow to post it’s because I have two of us to take care of now. Apologies.
The company can probably get the bucket of apples and jugs of apple cider for free as Tilly's family own an apple orchard and have/produce those. Her grandfather also planted the apple trees by the gate into/out of town and the tree is full of ripe apples that can be picked.
Tilly herself hasn't got much coin in hand (common living), however she has some great connections in Bree and I'm sure (pretty please) the GM will allow the company to gain some good discounts on items we need.
The One Ring doesn't really track treasure in the way that D&D/Pathfinder does. It tracks wealth. Each of you has a standard of living based on your culture. Men of Bree are fairly prosperous, and could afford the goods for a long journey. Dwarves of the Blue Mountains are flat-out rich, so I'd expect that if he wanted, Bain could outfit a whole expedition.
Don't worry about the costs unless you're doing something unusual (like building a ship or acquiring jewels.)
I'm in a pulp Cthulhu game on Roll20 every other Wednesday that's the same way. There's one member of the group that is just filthy rich and basically bankrolls anything the rest of us need! If he ever gets killed we're all in trouble!
So, we have the list of gear/goods we wish to gather/purchase before we head out to Rivendell. Can we assume we have those, GM, and are we ready to move ahead or do you need something else from us?
It’s been a full week, so I want to check in and report that I have pneumonia. My recovery has been decently effective, thanks to heavy doses of...whatever it is they’re giving me. But I’m still quite tired. I’ll be trying to post in some games no later than tomorrow.
Folks, my recovery from pneumonia took longer than I thought it would. Turns out I’m still alive. I’m still fairly weak but I’m going to get to this game today. Sorry it took so long.

Hello, I will be on vacation from now through Jan 8th. I will have access to the internet, but I am not sure how much I will be able to post. Bot me as needed. Happy New Years!
I just finished reading the last chapter of The Lord of the Rings to my sons (they're 8 and 9 and this was our third read-through). I couldn't keep from choking up this time, either...

I am cheating and just showing my daughter the extended movies. Though my wife was slowly reading the books to her. I am not sure if that ended though.

I will be traveling from 1/26 through 1/29. I should have good access to the internet and be able to post in the evenings. But feel free to bot as needed.
There’s some unexpected RL family stuff to take off, so I won’t be back on the boards until my Monday (your Sunday). If you need to bot my character in the meanwhile, please feel free. Thanks for your understanding. Please have a good weekend.
Hello. I’m making this post across all my games. These past few weeks have been filled with increasing health issues and I’ve been grateful for your understanding and patience. I’ve had to reevaluate my priorities and refocus energy into taking care of myself/my family and my ailing mother (she’s been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and has been rapidly declining). It wouldn’t be fair to take up a place in game and not be available to play with any consistency or coherency. So, sadly, I’ll be withdrawing from all my games. I’d sincerely like to thank all my excellent GMs and fellow players - I’ve enjoyed playing alongside you all and am grateful for the opportunity to learn new things and play my characters. At this stage, I don’t know when, or if, I’ll return to Paizo, so I want to wish you all the very best and please take care.
